Pa won't give them a place though. Or free security. So then they'll have to rethink.

I think Pa will give them a place. Not a royal home though. Pa and Willie certainly don't want the Markle stench near them

I'm not pointing a finger at Meg for any of that, at least I haven't once it was revealed that Roslyn Loveless was the letter writer and she mentioned some unspecified hearsay in the midst of a character assassination of Thomas Markle Snr.

My only query about Meghan's behaviour is why she cut off all relations with her father on the basis of some malicious hearsay from his embittered ex-wife instead of asking him if it's true. I think most people would confront their parent first rather than immediately believe the worst thing said about them.

To be honest, I couldn't care less about Meghan's relationship with her father or siblings. They are all unsavoury characters and I wouldn't blame her for wanting nothing to do with them. My problem with Meghan here is that, as usual, she's obviously lying and manipulating, trying to rewrite the history of her break with her father, using this incident as an excuse for the estrangement when she had clearly cut him off much earlier. And she is also using this incident to try and habilitate her reputation and attack her detractors and the press, while directly feeding the same press with material.

It's the constant chaos and drama and inaccuracies and accusations and manipulation and portrayal of herself as the great victim who is being wronged by all these nasty people that's the problem. If she just shut up or made brief, rational statements then half her problems would disappear. But she's too much of a narcissist to do that.

She cut off her father 8 months before the malicious hearsay was sent

Exactly. I don't think they do plan. School fiasco case in point. But I really do think Harry wants to be in UK tormenting his father and brother to keep him busy. Cali, what was he doing? Playing PlayStation, surfing and smoking weed? At least in UK he can prince around, spewing nonsense, tickling beards and pissing off kids

I actually think he could 'prince around' easier in California. Because there he could at least play 'American royal', stupid though that is. But back in England he looks extra ridiculous competing against the real thing. Like we saw in Nottingham the other week. The contrast with a genuine royal visit was stark.

So why are we criticising MM for not doing following up over the last 7 years if there was nothing to it?

Because MM is not saying that it was unlikely, malicious, vague rumour - she is saying she expected it to be investigated but didn't follow it up.

He tried princing around Cali but that died on its arse. If he went to Australia he could pretend to represent his father in the commonwealth (chaos no doubt)

Hmm was she silent was she silenced. It's the former isn't it. They're all hot air unless it's the horror of nude tights or small sausages at Balmoral

Yes and Masterchef in the UK has of course had a run in with this sort of thing already. So definitely not a good look for the brand over all

I bet it's going to be a sickening "bake a cake fit for a princess" type challenge 🙄

Yes, this exactly.

She’s waving it around to say “See, I told you I was right!” and “Oh I’m SO upset!”

She can’t simultaneously pretend she found it credible AND justify having pretended it never happened for 8 years.

Pa giving them a minor estate away from Windsor and Sandrngham would be a wise move. He would be acting in a private capacity so no impact on the institution and would absolve himself from accusations of heartlessness.

She is also saying that’s why her dcs never met her dad, so she believed it but knew her father hadn’t been investigated so was potentially still doing horrible things.

Do we see another Australian royal tour to coincide with Masterchef ??

I’ll lay odds we don’t see the two of them together in public until one of them goes to rehab or similar.

That’s the only move that will get them out of this. I think it has to be M, too.

I mean given she's made some huge allegations and statements in the 7 years since they left the royal family (racism, sexual harassment, suicidal thoughts etc) it's surprising that she chose not to speak out about this - if she was really concerned.

Harry never met her dad either in the 2½ years before the 2019 letter was received.

I don't think her blue collar dad really fitted with the Angelina Jolie-type image she was trying to convey

While I agree with this, IcedPurple, the trouble is that Americans don't have much use for titles unless they come with a high level of success attached, which is why Harry was mistaken in thinking "just being him" would be enough

Unfortunately being himself is no longer enough for anyone else either, because shorn of the MIGS's image cultivation we've seen how deeply nasty that "self" is, so where he goes from here is anyone's guess

HAM really need to make serious money to pay Tom junior off. He knows where the bodies are buried and has all the morals of a sewer rat

I would like to see her exposed, I think she has a lot of secrets.

But why has her brother been silent for so long?

I think he was paid off by HAM. He recently fell out with his father and this latest dump is revenge

I do wish that the media would wait until there's some proof before they go writing a million breathless articles. The tech people are on it and will find out in due course if the images were downloaded before or after the machine left Thomas Markle's possession. They should wait until then before they demonise Markle and exonerate Meghan. I really hope the timing of the downloads proves that TM is not to blame. I find it hard to believe, seeing as he appears to have been a great father, especially to Meghan, but of course, you never know.

And can I just point out that Meghan was horrible to her father way before she knew of these allegations? She failed to take Harry to meet her dad when they were dating, when they got engaged, and in the run-up to her wedding, when he was in hospital with heart problems. She did not go to see him after her wedding, despite him having heart surgery, and this was 2018. She knew nothing of the allegations until 2019.

Maybe the Markles are all just a bunch of bad eggs, including Meghan.

Harry sure knows how to pick 'em!

Oh I agree! Being royal got their foot in the door, but the trouble is neither has any marketable talent or attributes, so they never came up with the goods for Netflix or Spotify. In California, they were mere curiosities, but the shine has long since worn off.

I also don't see where they can go from here. Luckily for them, they have enough money to live in comfort without ever having to work again but I don't think that's enough for them. Also, neither seems to have any passions or hobbies to which they could dedicate themselves. So I think we're going to see more faux royal tours and minor media deals like the Oz kids' Masterchef. Diminishing returns all the way.

Very true, Lunde, but then all the other "revelations" have been done at a time and in a way to suit her and this one doesn't fit the pattern since it's Markle Jnr who launched it instead

Of course, if as some think they've done it together than that's moot, but relying on someone like her brother keeping in line really would be riding a tiger and I don't know if she'd risk it

I'm jumping way ahead from my place on page 4 (catching up), so apologies if someone has already addressed this.

I think the Masterchef gig is a perfect cover for the Hams 'getting the hell out of the UK Dodge' without any hullabaloo about why they're going (ie because the move to the UK has been a colossal failure on many fronts).

They go, bide their time a bit, and then during, or as soon as, filming wraps they announce how much they LUUURRRVVVE Aus, how the weather/the lifestyle/the people echo their 'beloved' California so they've decided to stay put.

They have the money to up sticks and leave relatively easily. They own no property in the UK, they have no real 'ties' there since the RF has said 'Thanks, but no thanks" so I think they figure there will be no help or money from that quarter. And it sounds as if any friendships they've made there are 'new friendships' and easily jettisoned. I'm not sure how similar the UK vs the Aus educational systems are, but I'd think it's more similar in nature to the UK than the US system. So I suppose it would still count as a 'British education'. Kinda.

I suppose the downside for Harry is that the Hamlets will end up with Aus accents rather than a UK accent. But the upside is that he can get back to the sand, surf, and sun life that he had in Montecito.

It also, I think, distances them a bit from the TMSr scandal. I think her 'involvement' (or lack thereof) is a much bigger media 'thing' in the UK than it is in the rest of the world.

They can't just decide they fancy staying in Australia. They would need visas.

He wasn't blue-collar. He was a respected Hollywood director of lighting and photography director, for which he received three Emmy awards. He made a lot of money, enough to fund all of Megan's private education from nursery through to graduating from a good - and expensive - university. Northwestern is a well-respected college, and she went to the same private school as Johnny Depp's kids. Meghan is not the rags-to-riches story that she likes to portray. She said that she had to work while at school and her dad said she did not, as he would not have allowed it. She also said that she was raised on some cheap salad bar, but on her blog The Tig, she said that she had lots of healthy farm-fresh food growing up. She's as much a liar as her siblings. As far as I can make out, she and her family - on both sides - are pretty mucky. (Doria was done for drug offences and spent a few years inside, which is why Megan was brought up by her dad during that time.)
