William on Graham Norton

Poor Harry. As if his week hasn’t been bad enough he has now had to watch his brother appearing on the best talk show , holding his own, looking comfortable and relaxed, keeping up with the banter, making half decent jokes, telling stories against himself with humour.

Makes Harry’s attempt at tv chatting seem even more uncomfortable.

“Call me William” versus “I am a prince.”

Why would celebrities be on this listening to such shite.🤣

Edited

He was publicising his Earthshot awards for environmental change. AND he was terrific. Very natural. For example, when asked he could name his favourite movies. And he laughed and joked with the celebs whom he already knew.

Him and Charles are massively and obscenely wealthy owning swathes of
land due to family grabbing it in the past.

I’m sure they are perfectly nice
people (as are frankly most of the people I know who could also be genial and self deprecating on a sofa for 20ins) but once you appreciate the sheer enormity of the unearned wealth it’s off putting.

William was so at ease and confident. My hubby, who has no interest in the daily ups and downs of the royals, was also impressed and more importantly, connected with his personality. William comes across as a very positive person, loved the energy all the guests had around Earthshot prize.

He's not 'a sport', he's getting in there, gaining public support so his positioned is secured! His father is old and unwell and he needs to insinuate himself now before the debate about the worth of the monarchy begins.

Also his whole slot will have been heavily written, vetted, written again and then rehearsed. The other guests will have been primed. He does speak well,as does Harry but they have been groomed to be able to do that since they were born.

TheFirstAffair · 24/10/2026 07:19

He's bloody brilliant! Him and Catherine are a breath of fresh air and I believe they are both really kind and genuine people

What an odd assumption, that if one member of the family does well the others are automatically shown up or shamed by it! It suggests a dreary, limited, transactional view of life - plus you don't seem to think much of your royals if you don't believe that multiple members of the family are capable of impressing the public - or at least getting through a talk show segment without ranting, raving, or eating their shoes.

I’m not sure it’s that odd of an assumption when it’s essentially what Harry said in Spare. That the family was/is massively competitive, media appearances were compared and tallied up (“The Court Circular was an ancient document, but it had lately morphed into a circular firing squad. It didn't create the feelings of competitiveness that ran in my family, but it amplified them, weaponized them.”), people got cross over positive press about other members of the family if it outshone their event etc.

Dayorigami · 24/10/2026 07:26

He does come across very well, confident but not overly so. Him and his team will have been told all the questions in advance so the answers will have been rehearsed to some extent. It also helps that he also knows all the other guests.

This thread or mumsnet generally? The latter then a fair few have mentioned using it. I dint know if she counts as a celebrity but I saw a clip of Katherine Ryan referencing it yesterday.

Horses7 · 24/10/2026 07:27

William was great on GN - Diana would be proud.
The other guests were all entertaining too.
PW pulling the lever at the end!! 🤣

Are you sure that he has ended his affair with Rose?

The non-existent one, story of which was pedalled when Catherine was not seen for a while, as it turned out because of cancer treatment?

I woild also add that what a narrow mind people have that you cannot recognise good things regardless, Harry isn't always ranting. He does well when he is promoting Invictus and other xharities he works with just in the same way people are saying here that William was great on GN show.

I am sure there are things William hasn't done well a few come to mind but I don't need to be here ripping apart a person because in the grand scheme of things it had no impact so wha6ts the point of putting out awful comments about people.

Pabbel · 24/10/2026 07:56

All kudos to William and his Earthshot project, he came across as just a nice guy on GN show,

Also, would Catherine's sister Pippa have called her daughter Rose if the rumours were true?

Many very rich powerful people do. Including a large contingent of overseas investors.
The difference being the Royals one job is to support Britain.

Kingsandqueenz · 24/10/2026 08:07

William is getting even better looking with age, he's in fantastic shape too. He looked very happy & relaxed on Graham Norton.

Washingupdone · 24/10/2026 08:07

I enjoyed watching the program last night. William came across as a normal guy with no hang-ups.

IdleGossip · 24/10/2026 08:08

We watched it too and thought he came across very well, natural and comfortable and quite happy to tell stories to the rest of them about how he wanted to be a DJ or posted on Aston Villa fan forums. Got involved with the red chair nonsense. Hannah Waddingham and Robert Irwin were great too, Cate Blanchett wasn't quite as engaging but still entertaining. Audience were clearly not told in advance William would be there as they all looked shocked when he was announced.

speakball · 24/10/2026 08:17

If William had bombed last night would that mean anything?

PetulaGordeno · 24/10/2026 08:17

I thought he was fantastic and really natural. Obviously he has to be very careful what he says.
I think it’s also about preparing him to be King. Obviously, Diana did ‘that’ interview with the BBC, which William spoke about a few years ago and was very unhappy about, so I think the interview was also providing a clean slate with him and the BBC, and what better show to do that on the Graham Norton?
I think in all of the madness going on around him, he’s clearly looking to the future.
I cannot wait for him and Catherine to take the top jobs and I hope William modernises the monarchy because it is much needed.

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 24/10/2026 08:22

When he laughed, his expressions were so like his mum.

He came across as very engaging, positive and authentic.

I like Graham Norton, I like this interviewing style so it was a great fit

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 24/10/2026 08:24

That’s a good poin above. That this interview was a postive engagement with the BBC. Perhaps resetting relations with them,

Very normal-being the main guest on a premier prime time chat show! 🤣🤣Just like us, eh?

Yes, and he was solely invited based not on any achievement but on which battles his ancestors won over a thousand years ago. It was good PR and he came across relatively well; still doesn't change how wrong it is that he was driven home in taxpayer funded police motorcade (sure those officers could be better put to use doing other things) and slept in a taxpayer funded palace and had his bed made by.....taxpayer funded servants.

BermudaRhombus · 24/10/2026 08:29

This will help him boost his figures for working engagements. At least he’s doing something I suppose and makes a change from just attending premieres and his favourite sports matches.

These costs will still apply when we return to being a republic, but at least we’ll have a choice in the individual concerned.
