William on Graham Norton

Poor Harry. As if his week hasn’t been bad enough he has now had to watch his brother appearing on the best talk show , holding his own, looking comfortable and relaxed, keeping up with the banter, making half decent jokes, telling stories against himself with humour.

Makes Harry’s attempt at tv chatting seem even more uncomfortable.

“Call me William” versus “I am a prince.”

Loved it …

honestlyfine · Yesterday 00:28

my family all agreed that William came across very well.

minnowonthesay · Yesterday 00:32

I thought he was great, what a sport for doing it, just so normal having inhabited a very abnormal world. It makes you realise our monarchy is in for a serious overhaul once he is King.

MrsKateColumbo · Yesterday 00:38

I thought it was excellent PR, he had a great segment, just the right amount of jokes, he played it very well.

Side note - how cute is Robert Irwin, I feel very old seeing him grown up

PR Bitch slap of the year.

Crispynoodle · Yesterday 00:47

He was great I’m looking forward to the time he will be king with Queen Catherine

Are you sure that he has ended his affair with Rose?

What a shame, William deserves to be spoken about without it starting off as some snark to Harry.

Anyone would think they are conjoined twins the way its impossible on this board to talk about either one of them without a snark od comparison being mentioned.

Fantastic . He did really well .

I thought Prince William was phenomenal; he’s a great ambassador for our country.

I think he came across as modest, self-effacing, and with a genuine sense of humour. The fact that he’s genuinely on football forums anonymously is hilarious and he didn’t mind the gentle ribbing from Graham about it.

I was also really touched when Hannah Waddingham said that William had written to her when her mum died two years ago.

The Earthshot Prize is making a real difference too, it’s a great incentive.

And Robert Irwin was just adorable! No wonder he’s involved with the Earthshot Prize, he’s brimming with positivity and passionate about the environment.

It was a lovely, feel-good show tonight.

You never know - maybe Catherine is here on mumsnet. I know a few celebrities are

Maisymouse2 · Yesterday 05:05

Daisy May Cooper certainly is as she has mentioned it in interviews and it gave her the inspiration for her tv series 'am i being unreasonable'

What an odd assumption, that if one member of the family does well the others are automatically shown up or shamed by it! It suggests a dreary, limited, transactional view of life - plus you don't seem to think much of your royals if you don't believe that multiple members of the family are capable of impressing the public - or at least getting through a talk show segment without ranting, raving, or eating their shoes.

Exactly. And surely one lesson of the last decade or so is that, esp for men, wait 60 years before you worship them. Esp rich or powerful men. There may be dirty horrific secrets someone is keeping for them that will only come out when their power wanes. For now both brothers are supporting some good causes.

Cheering this family estrangement is weird

Possibly Harry saw it and felt proud.

Why the assumption of competitivemess?

William came across well. That Hannah one a bit of a pain. Robert & Cate good though.

Very normal-being the main guest on a premier prime time chat show! 🤣🤣Just like us, eh?

William and Kate’s PR team are SO much better than Meghan and Harry’s. I do wonder what goes on there and if H and M refuse to follow their advice or if they’re just terrible PR people.

piscofrisco · Yesterday 06:40

Played a blinder. I can believe he is an alright down to earth person (which is a coup considering his background). He came across, as Meghan would have it, very authentically. As opposed to just saying he was ‘showing up authentically’, and therein lies the difference. I’m sure it’s all an act to a degree, but it’s a better act at the moment than Harry’s.

He's not 'a sport', he's getting in there, gaining public support so his positioned is secured! His father is old and unwell and he needs to insinuate himself now before the debate about the worth of the monarchy begins.

I think they're arrogant enough to think they know best.

Katastrophyy · Yesterday 06:48

He did a great job, as did HW and the young guy. Thought Cate was a bit subdued

In what sense is the heir apparent’s position not secure? The clue is in the name.
