William on Graham Norton

Poor Harry. As if his week hasn’t been bad enough he has now had to watch his brother appearing on the best talk show , holding his own, looking comfortable and relaxed, keeping up with the banter, making half decent jokes, telling stories against himself with humour.

Makes Harry’s attempt at tv chatting seem even more uncomfortable.

“Call me William” versus “I am a prince.”

If somehow they all reconciled, and I know that wouldn't be easy, then I'd have huge respect for them all. As it is the bitterness and intransigence on all sides (maybe) is so offputting to me and doesn't present a good image.

In a family at the head of our country, it would be a lesson in humility and forgiveness (if all sides play ball), to just bury the hatchet. KC is not well and honestly could they not, with all their power and money sort it out?

Until then, and I know there is fault on different sides, I cannot see them as a loving family at all. There is nothing that cannot be overcome if the sides are willing.

PR Bitch slap of the year.

Not really. The Thomas Markle allegations are taking up a lot of the headlines.

janedoesdallas · Yesterday 10:23

Am I the only one who found hw unexexpectedly irritating?

raymundo · Yesterday 10:26

@leperol agree, they would be much more representative of a normal family if they just made up, did family things together and bitched to each other afterwards.

William and Kate’s PR team are SO much better than Meghan and Harry’s. I do wonder what goes on there and if H and M refuse to follow their advice or if they’re just terrible PR people.

H&M go through comms advisors like a dose of salts. As one myself, I suspect its entirely because they refuse such counsel and go rogue. I'm not even sure they have anyone retained currently. W&K on the other hand - it's a PR masterclass.

I suppose it’s a ‘serious career’ where he’s gone straight to managing director with certainty he’ll be appointed CEO in due course. Must be nice.

When dynastic succession in successful family businesses work out well it’s lovely. But most don’t involve being in the public eye.

Cushionthefloor · Yesterday 10:30

There's that love to hate thing again.😂 Do the royalist never give it a rest?

CathyorClaire · Yesterday 10:31

He was publicising his Earthshot awards for environmental change.

Those glitzy awards held round the globe with no apparent thought given to carbon emissions?

Did he mention his numerous helicopter trips to and from his various forever homes?

raymundo · Yesterday 10:32

W&K PR is defo better but masterclass? Disagree, I don’t think they are particularly relevant with the younger generations and they haven’t managed to shake over the workshy label which has been around for years. They did hire a crisis management person recently which is a good idea with the Andrew mess.

It would be a hell if a lot easier to reconcile if Charles and William didn’t have constitutional roles and if Harry didn’t want a free ride on the back of those.

You are not meant to mention the

3 dc,
fleet of Range Rovers
holidays
private/military transport
staff
etc

😆😆

Nothing is impossible if the sides are willing. They have the power to do whatever they want really in all things. That is what being an immediate member of the RF gives you, in comparison to you or me.

I watched it. I thought he came across very well. It gives me hope for the future of our monarchy.

I think Hannah was slightly drunk.

the UK press also need to keep the Royals on side for access.

Tiger Woods is a classic example of a press relationship, many journalists knew for yrs about his infidelity (he wasn’t discreet) but it was more favourably to sit on the stories.

I disagree. Tampongate proved the tabloids were willing to put stories over access to the Royals. If they had irrefutable proof William was having an affair, one of them would publish. But that's the point – it's just rumours and no substance.

I’m not even a Royalist but I love William and Kate, a much more slimmed down monarchy is what we need but happy with these 2 at the helm.

We already have a monarchy forcibly slimmed by scandal and flouncing.

No sign of it costing proportionately less though and I don't expect W to change that.

raymundo · Yesterday 10:37

@Passingthroughagain

The relationship with the press is entirely different today than 3 decades ago, Diana’s death changed a lot of that.

Yes, I think she was!

Credittocress · Yesterday 10:38

I thought he came across really well, but young Robert Irwin really surprised me, what a great and entertaining guest and ambassador for Earthshot.

Tootyfilou · Yesterday 10:38

Bread and circuses keep the British public in their place. Reading these frankly pathetic comments about a vastly privileged, not very bright man, makes me sick. 3.4 million children living in poverty in the UK, while the taxpayers still fund these scroungers, unbelievable that this still happens in 2026. The peasants are still fawning.

Yes, but if they had irrefutable evidence William was having an affair – photos, messages, receipts – I don't think they would hold off from publishing.

CatSquirrelDuck · Yesterday 10:41

I think the Royal Family should support themselves; no need for them in the modern age.

That said, he killed it on Graham Norton. Enjoyed the show.

Edited

The problem with slimming down is that they don’t have enough people to cover all of the engagements and duties they previously did. This is especially the case when members become unwell and the next generation aren’t yet up and running. I actually like William’s idea of treating the monarchy more like a job, but that means we need to assess it accordingly - we need to look at scope, costs and performance.
