William on Graham Norton

Poor Harry. As if his week hasn’t been bad enough he has now had to watch his brother appearing on the best talk show , holding his own, looking comfortable and relaxed, keeping up with the banter, making half decent jokes, telling stories against himself with humour.

Makes Harry’s attempt at tv chatting seem even more uncomfortable.

“Call me William” versus “I am a prince.”

I tend to think that other people’s successes are only to be looked on favourably. It’s not a competition. I didn’t see Harry’s, but if it didn’t go well, he should watch and learn. Or stick to his professed desire to live privately. I’d hate to be in the public eye. It’s genuinely my idea of hell. I think William does an excellent job with his rather strange role. He’s treats it like a serious career, not an entitlement.

I suppose it’s a ‘serious career’ where he’s gone straight to managing director with certainty he’ll be appointed CEO in due course. Must be nice.

I just watched it on catchup. I thought he came over really well. And he kept going slightly pink which tells me he is possibly quite shy in person. He was funny, told stories against himself, seemed quite down to earth.

I've never rated Robert Irwin but thought he came across so well. Such genuine passion. TBH I thought he was someone trading off the family name (ahem- the irony vis a vis a Prince is not lost on me) yet he's clearly the real deal.

Are you sure that he has ended his affair with Rose?

Idiot.

NoHangoversToday · Yesterday 10:03

Giles Coren admitted publicly he had made up the affairs rumour. I's incredibly unpleasant (and GC has moments of true unpleasantness which he reveals quite often).

Why would celebrities be on this listening to such shite.🤣

Awwww, don’t be so hard on yourself, kiddo.

I loved those pictures of Robert, and William asked about the snake! He seemed really nice as well.
I laughed when Hannah made ambiguous remark and William said "you'd better caveat that, Hannah!"

Because they are human just like everyone else!

Plus, none of it was "shite", plus they're all involved with Earthshot. Certainly not "shite".

I’m not even a Royalist but I love William and Kate, a much more slimmed down monarchy is what we need but happy with these 2 at the helm.

Genuinely how can you love strangers?

Giles Coren wasn’t the source of the rumours, he just amplified them. But either way, I’m not sure it’s a huge deal if William has affairs. Just about every Prince of Wales in history has done so and you’d be hard pushed to argue that the Royal family upholds any kind of ‘traditional’ moral standards.

MauveLibrary · Yesterday 10:14

OneFunBrickNewt · Yesterday 09:48

Yes, you're right about the choice.
I'd argue the cost would be massively reduced. After all, the state wouldn't- either directly or indirectly- fund the president's uncle's legal costs or housing his gran's cousins in a palace.

Its a moot point given that we have a constitutional monarchy and not a republic. Its unlikely to be something that will change.

Rose Hanbury issued a formal legal notice about it. Folks keep saying it's true, flying in the face of evidence, but then some people prefer gossip to facts.

Presumably because they knew they'd have been sued by Rose and her husband for printing lies?

the UK press also need to keep the Royals on side for access.

Tiger Woods is a classic example of a press relationship, many journalists knew for yrs about his infidelity (he wasn’t discreet) but it was more favourably to sit on the stories.

Kings have always had affairs and remained popular. Edward VIII could have had Mrs S as mistress and no-one apart from Mrs S would have mind. It's almost in the Job Spec.

Well that's strange because I've read plenty of critical articles about various members of the RF over the years.

Possibly Harry saw it and felt proud.

Why the assumption of competitivemess?

Edited

Harry's the one who sees himself as the "spare", who was upset because he didn't get as many sausages as William.

Insinuate?

This...what a strange comment. William becomes King the moment that Charles, its not something that he has to "insinuate" himself into.

There are so many examples of this! The miracle of good PR.

God almighty, Spare was dripping with resentment and jealousy.

raymundo · Yesterday 10:21

@issyforqueen you misunderstand or are you arguing the Royals and press don’t have a relationship?

BunnyBunbunbun · Yesterday 10:21

The attempt to make people believe the Rose affair fabrication really isn't working.

raymundo · Yesterday 10:22

@issyforqueen why would you read a book by someone you dislike?
