Yeh, don’t understand why it’s taking so long to enquire about a letter.

Surely that would be a pretty important file to have no?

Maybe they’ve had orders to type one up……

Meg is going to have to produce this letter as it’s seems strange that the Met wouldn’t be able to find such information quickly.

She’s also going to have to produce the legal advice she was given that she was precluded from talking about it.

FBI should have a copy, surely? they could fax it over.

I shall be too busy having trotted off.... as per posts passim.

I misread your trotting as a reference to Trotsky. You will be a great admirer of him presumably.

Starryfifty · 23/10/2026 15:53

The MET have to go rummaging for a letter ?? No photocopies or above standard filing system for such important documents? The whole thing is a farce

Also, if she was told she couldn't talk about the allegations then, why is she talking about them now?

It could be that the investigation has already concluded so she's free to speak. But the Met say they never investigated Markle at all! This is a mess upon a mess.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 23/10/2026 15:55

Didn’t Harry get one of the high ups in the NYPD to write a letter saying the high speed car chase was true or something??

Yes, it's only 8 years ago. Everything would be recorded digitally and easily accessed with a few clicks.

You would think.

Finding the letter if it exists will be the least of their worries - it's the release of it or information within it ,if they do , that would need to be handled very carefully with a lot of consultation before you get to that stage.

He did. He could surely have made some follow ups regarding his father (if allegations are true).

A Met spokesman said: 'We are aware of media reports that officers from the Met's Royalty and Specialist Protection Command were involved in the passing on of a letter in 2018. We are undertaking enquiries internally in an effort to confirm this.'
The Daily Mail understands that the Met has not and is not investigating Thomas Sr.

In 2018 I was working in an accounts department handling invoices. Every so often the invoices would be scanned and filed by month paid into folders on the C drive.

My record for finding an invoice required by audit was five minutes. My suspicion is that the Met is looking for a unicorn.

Eh? Why would they need to release it? They just need to confirm the existence of said letter. Like I said upthread, the danger is that they gave the one and only copy to Meghan and the dog ate it. If the Met say they didn’t pass a letter on, however….🤷‍♀️

I'll stick my neck out and say not only does the letter exist that people who doubt otherwise will need to eat their words.

Theunamedcat · 23/10/2026 16:01

Why would they give her the only copy? Especially as if she was going to live in this country he might one day show up and once he is here shouldn't they investigate him?

I think we can be pretty certain that no 'letter' exists. This is just typical Meghan embellishment.

The real question is whether or not RPO's passed on information regarding allegations against Thomas Markle to Meghan. I'd assume there would be some record of any such communication, even if there is no 'letter'. How long would it take to access it, if it exists?

Well have we had Andrew's protection officer records released yet the ones that could exonerate him from heinous accusations ?

Why have you posted what is essentially the same thing, twice?

Abbeycrunch · 23/10/2026 16:04

This is shocking news. What I don't understand is why MM brought the privacy action about the letter she wrote to her father given what she was told about him in 2018. This stoked up a lot of interest in their relationship at the time.

I doubt such records exist.

Kind of like this alleged 'letter'.

Nice try though, if a little lame.

If there was a letter I regard it as much more likely that she was briefed by an officer of appropriate rank, given the letter to read and a copy to keep.

Perhaps when MM says she saw a letter she means a printout from Interpol's I-24/7 communication system.

A letter will be found I’m sure, whether that letter is genuinely from 2018 or hastily written up today under orders we will never know.

Yes but surely Meghan would have kept a letter of such importance ?
