She knows how bad it looks that she never said anything for 8 years!!!!

But how could she have said anything? There was an (ongoing?) police investigation and normally the family of the accused would not be keep updated on how that was going. Plus, she would know that if she so much as hinted to the media or her followers that she had her reasons for keeping her distance from her father, the internet and every would-be sleuth in the entire world wouldn't let it rest until they'd found out why.

I'm no fan or apologist for MM (do a MN search on my user handle if you don't believe me), but I don't see how she could've said or done anything.

BemusedAmerican · 23/10/2026 15:28

Thanks @TheTwerkingDuchessOfMonteshitshow I had no idea the health care was so bad there!

What is Clemmie Moore on about? I have sympathy for Megan with regards to her father and feel the statement was probably the best she could do, bearing in mind she doesn't listen to PR advice. But, and it's a big but, to suggest that we should give her a pass on her own conduct because her Dad is under investigation doesn't make sense.

We each are responsible for our own decisions and the consequences of those decisions.

Edited

It feels like EITHER a massive wind up to get the frothing going, OR as if she's let CEO of the Sussex Squad write the article.
Having said that, I've never read a Sun piece before, so maybe they are all like that. I do know they have to write at <12 reading level though.

Kingsandqueenz · 23/10/2026 15:23

But she accused the royal family of racism , was she not afraid of legal action there?
Again this is not adding up..

I think this whole thing just illustrates how little
strategic thinking goes on with the Sussexes. If this was the real reason why she didn’t see her father, why did she say it was because of the wedding suit photos and then Harry say it was his fault as op have said. If she had this massive secret, why accuse the RF of racism etc. It’s always all just knee jerk reactions and clap backs and it’s now ringing very hollow

I actually saw him speak a few years back at a festival - he got a standing ovation at the end - a decent honest intelligent leader that we never realised we needed until we lost him.

He was a Conservative and he presided over one of the most corrupt governments.
Honest? What about the affair with Edwina?

AtIusvue · 23/10/2026 15:29

IcedPurple · 23/10/2026 15:24

She didn't have to say anything at all.

She does not owe the public information on her relationships, or lack thereof, with family members. Has William ever spoken publicly on his falling out with Harry? But Meghan's perennial problem is that she can never ever resist putting her version of events out there. That's a huge part of the mess she and Harry have made of their lives these past 7 years.

They see themselves at truthsayers, that they are compelled to do what’s right, even in the face of adversity.

Yet on the serious issue of CSA, they cover it up with a story about tabloid collusion?

There’s a difference between not saying anything and obscuring the truth.

John Major, the man who fooled millions into believing the words 'honest' and 'politician' could be read in the same sentence without a cynical laugh.

I know. Even by Tory standards, a shyster.

It is an admission by a Sun assistant editor that the press helped create a damaging narrative about a woman whose reasons they did not fully understand and a desire to make hay on their big story. This is not their usual lines to take for sure.

I don't understand how her father's alleged crimes are supposed to affect my opinion of her claiming that the Royal family were racist?

So why was she told of the allegations in the first place?

And why was Markle allowed to travel around the world if he was the subject of an investigation for very serious crimes?

I agree that it was not Meghan's responsibility to speak about these allegations in public, but the whole story is a bit odd. There has to be a lot more to come out.

What's with all the letters???? Email has been around for 30 years or so

I googled about how law enforcement in different countries communicate and Interpol used I-24/7, which allows frontline officers and national central bureaus to share criminal data, alerts, and wanted-person notices.

The idea that the FBI wrote a letter and bunged it in the post is risible.

One thing I would say about John Major is that the absurd pantomime that our series of PMs descended into since then does make him seem like an ok calibre in hindsight 😅

I've been just assuming that the letter the Met people showed her came from an official source - as in, a police authority in the USA or Mexico. I can't see the Met people taking the future DIL of the HoS aside to show her a letter they received from an individual alleging her dad was a bad 'un.

And if the letter was just from an individual, and your daddy was such a luvvely chappie - as she was asserting right up until she snagged a prince - any normal person would have told them either to stuff their letter and/or to come back when there's some hard evidence.

That’s how I interpreted it. As TM has never been to the UK there wouldn’t be offences here for the Met to investigate.

I know the thread has moved on and might already have been pointed out.

Frogmore House is not Frogmore Cottage.

I’m fully aware it isn’t.
Catherine and William were at Frogmore house.

Hmmm. Maybe there was only one copy of the letter and it was given to Meghan, but unfortunately, the dog ate it 🤔

Again this is not adding up..

So she said all she could say about the RF instead, because she knew they wouldn’t be able to reply to her or use legal action to address the lies that were told.

She’s a bully. Picks on people who can’t answer back.

Archie M-W was born on 6 May 2019.

MM’s letter to her father was dated 27 August 2018. She may, perhaps, have just learned a baby was on the way? She didn’t have a child “to protect” at that point.

Conception date for 6th May, assuming going to full term, and we haven't heard anything to suggest that he was early, would be the first week in September. So even assuming an early test wouldn't know for around a fortnight at the earliest.
