I don't believe she's considering a return to acting. She spent years living down the road from Hollywood, with her own production company, and never expressed any interest in acting again. But she's going to do it now that she's in rural England? I doubt it. In any case, who would hire her? She's not a good actress and would bring a whole lot of drama to the set for no obvious gain

I agree, @IcedPurple, though maybe there's the possibility of cameo appearances in the hope of them leading to something bigger?

A bit of a comedown, admittedly, but then so is everything else

though maybe there's the possibility of cameo appearances in the hope of them leading to something bigger?

She's not really a big enough star to get a cameo in a major film with a 'well known and established' director. Those cameos aren't for 'drumming up offers' but usually just a bit of 'fun' or as a 'personal favour for a friend'.

However, 'lesser celebrities' are often drafted in for approved projects that are turning out to be, shall we say, 'proving a bit disappointing' but are contractually required to be made.

Obvs the point of both is to boost ticket sales.

If she wants to return to acting, more power to her. I have a feeling that she realizes that she won't be getting many offers, if any, from Hollywood. I think she's probably hoping to break into the UK film/TV industry.

I could not agree more. They won't even end up in vases at home. They'll just be chucked out.

So fucking strange. Then again, people try to give sweets & chocolates to the young royals at Xmas & Easter. The security people take them away. Freaking weirdos they must be.

Edited

The flowers are given to local hospitals in the area. At least that’s what happens with the WRF.

British Vogue has confirmed the cream trousers were Boden. You read it here first 😂

Boden was mentioned on the previous thread but thank you for confirming it.

She had her own production company with a NF contract! She could have cast herself!

I don't buy that she's considering a return to acting. It's hard work and if you're not very good, as she isn't, it's difficult to hide it and she'd hate getting bad reviews. Also, while Hollywood isn't as dominant as it once was, the British film industry is still much smaller. That's why so many British actors go to America to look for work. Even putting aside who Meghan is and her mediocre acting abilities, there just aren't a ton of roles for 45 year old American women in the British entertainment industry.

Wheresthebeach · Today 16:45

What a ridiculous state of affairs....they run away, they come back. They attack the RF, they then pretend to be working Royals. I just wish they didn't get so much media coverage. They are an utter disgrace.

AlexandraCarrington · Today 16:46

I doubt she can do a convincing British accent, so on tv she'd always have to be a visitor from America. A long lost Dingle cousin, maybe?

The burgandy really suits Meghan but the full outfit was top much & all different shades... my daughter said she's in purple the colour of royalty😂

The colour really suits her but the coat looks too big for her frame. Also there is an imbalance between the heavy coat and bare legs.

The coat is too oversized for her petite frame & also in some side photos her skirt is below the coat hemline which just looks wrong... but the burgundy is much better than the cream & nice & seasonal.

She seems to like that look. We saw it in her engagement photos way back in 2017. I remember thinking bare legs and spindly heels were an odd choice for a grey November day. The visible hem of her dress looks sloppy too.

I got cut off earlier, the thread went too quick!

in reply to someone who said I was a 'supporter':

I'm not a H&M supporter! I'm pretty indifferent to all the royals and have no particular affection for H&M or the rest of them.

All the stuff people have countered with seems (to me) like relatively minor stuff, a bit daft, or tit-for-tat elements of the wider family conflict.

My interest in this thread isn't a 'how dare you! They're angels!' - I'm sure they're annoying at times and lovely at others. I think William and Kate probably are too.

And the person saying I accused them of racism - it's interesting that you immediately jumped on that. I wasn't accusing anyone of anything, I was wondering aloud what elements of the situation contribute most to threads like this. What things could you change for the very particular type of person who tears through the Mail/Telegraph for another bit of H&M goss and then camps out on a mumsnet thread talking about stuff they've 'heard' that backs up their opinions about a couple they've never met...

I have not come across a better explanation for the hatred of Meghan, to be honest. Look at all that crazy nonsense that she has no womb and then the stuff Clarkson said. I can’t see how she’s any worse than any other royal or celebrity. And when you see that stuff laid side by side from the Mail and Express where things her and Katherine done are the same but Meghan gets the hate, it is truly chilling. If it’s not racism it’s profiteering on the racism of the readership of those papers.

One needs to learn how to get in and out of vehicles when attending engagements.

No-one needs to see one’s claspers.

Oh god, how vulgar ... I'm a nobody and even I was taught how to exit a car in a decorous manner Confused

bluegreygreen · Today 16:55

Re the positive Times article upthread: Kate Mansey works closely with Roya Nikkah, who seems to be one of the people in the Sussex PR WhatsApp group.

The others who tend to run the same stories (or have exclusives from the Sussexes) are Victoria Ward (Telegraph), Chris Ship (ITV), Cameron Walker (GBNews), Matt Wilkinson (Mirror). Tom Sykes was also in the WhatsApp group and discussed it at the time of the security row in the summer. I don't know if he's still in it, or left at that point.

Those topics are not encouraged on these threads; those of us who are regular posters try to keep the threads clear both of conspiracy theories and unpleasant comments that break Talk guidelines.

It would be good if you did not introduce them on to the thread.

And if she hasn’t a womb due to a medical emergency or intervention?

How would you feel if that was dismissed as crazy nonsense?

How could we possibly know? It is none of our business and to even put that notion out in a defence is as bad as racism.

It is stating that a woman is not a woman if she does not have full function to breed.

Many of us are in that position and your comments are disgusting.

That is what is chilling.

She's just not very stylish. She looked her best when a working royal, but Charles was paying for her bespoke designer wardrobe, including some eye wateringly expensive stuff from Dior. The colours were sharp and bright.
Now she doesn't have KC to pay for everything, it's all gone a bit awry.

DaisyDooley · Today 17:00

valeriy2 · Today 14:14

If the metric is live or die by the crowds then let's have this applying to real and faux Royals alike and let's further more benchmark that against peak QE2 with a reminder who is being paid and has an extensive PR machine and who doesn’t. It is foolish to fight on those grounds if you are choosing to do so.

That is some word salad,
I don’t understand a jot of it!

Boudy · Today 17:01

Harry was taught from an early age that this is “work” when, patently, it isn’t. It’s simply self-justification for the enormous privileges the state bestows upon them. So I can’t blame him for doing what he was taught to do by the institution and “Pa”.

Lord Foulkes made an excellent contribution to this debate in the House of Lords yesterday, challenging the very idea that royal engagements automatically constitute real work. As he put it:
“That is not real work. It is not like a teacher who works five days a week or a nurse in a geriatric hospital who might be working a 12-hour shift.”

He also questioned why taxpayers should continue funding such a sprawling institution when ordinary households are struggling to make ends meet.
Perhaps the real question is not whether Harry is doing what he was taught to do, but why we continue to accept the institution’s own definition of “work” as justification for its extraordinary privileges.

That could also be applied to the House of Lords imo.(the third para)

MonetsLilac · Today 17:02

Harry looked terrible, he shouldn't pair jeans like that with the jacket. A nice pair of trousers would have been better.

Dontevenlookatme · Today 17:05

I don’t care whether they had a large crowd or a small one, I wish the media would stop referring to these visits as “engagements”. Report on them if they must, but at least get the language right.

@IcedPurple " Look at all the ugly graffiti in the background of one of the photos. That wouldn't have happened had the 'grey men' been organising things. "

This is a fairly trivial comment but I think it was Billy Connelly who said the Queen (QEII ) thought the country smelled of fresh paint, because people would paint the facing bits before she arrived. 😂 I suspect she didn't give a hoot.

Having looked at some of the photographs , I just think - Oh let them do it. They seem to me to be trying to get back the Royalness , but on such a lesser scale than they had before so why bother - pre and post them stepping back from WRF my suspicion is nothing they do as "pubic engagements" will ever look like proper WRF engagements. A tight camera shot and relatively few people for a well publicised event does not a beloved royal couple make. (my opinion)

What? It’s not me saying she hasn’t got a womb, it’s nut jobs on Daily Mail’s/ Express’s FB. There’s this mad conspiracy that the kids don’t exist or are played by actors. I’m not saying it, I’m using it as evidence to show there is an unhealthy obsession with the woman based on racism and the papers use it to get clicks and profit.

For the second time: we don't discuss conspiracy theories around the children on these threads.

There are other websites if you wish to do that.

ETA The only times this topic has been raised on these boards, in the last couple of years while I've been on them, is by Sussex fans wishing to cause disruption.
I have never seen it mentioned first by neutral posters or those who criticise the Sussexes.
