Of course they are winning.

They are the only ones competing. No matter how many fairytales you and the like invent to convince yourselves otherwise.

If the plan was to dazzle everyone with how popular they were in Nottingham and use that as leverage with Charles, it’s flopped badly.

What leverage, though? how that's going to be framed to HM? 'Look, we're so popular and we do the royalling so well, you need us back. You just have to forget about the OW interview, Spare, Megz taking the piss out of grannie, the racism accusation and all the calls for apologies, yah? oh, and an apology WOULD be nice, too.'

Yes, exactly. You know it’s ridiculous and I know it’s ridiculous but I think their plan is/was - Charles severely wounded by the Spencer book, H+M so wildly popular that W+C look a bit useless and beg them to come back to save the RF. This is how they saw the situation when they left - they were single-handedly modernising the RF and everyone was jealous of Meghan because she was so good at it. Then since they’ve been away, Meghan sighing about how she just didn’t want to go back to being “the face of the RF” again, and Harry declaring himself a working royal when he absolutely isn’t. Harry volunteering to help when Charles was ill and apparently surprised that William hasn’t asked for his support.

I think the only way they can survive financially is to be supported by Charles and that means being a working royal. Looks like the idea is that Harry does that, secures the income, accommodation and security, while Meghan pisses about selling clothes and tat off the back of the royal association. Maybe in time they could lobby to be given half of the Duchy of Cornwall.

But it won’t work - Charles and William don’t want a bigger WRF, and even if they did they wouldn’t have Harry, he’s so toxic and useless, just an embarrassment. The Sussexes did everyone a favour when they left. And Charles seems pretty adamant that they remain private citizens, nothing to do with him, HIHO is still off the table. They have no official role or public event to attend for remembrance - how humiliating that the prince, former soldier and Captain General of the RM has to mark Remembrance Day privately. Obviously there’s no invitation to Sandringham either, no Christmas morning pap walk, no opportunity to reveal A+L alongside their royal rellies. They will never be allowed anywhere near the Wales children.

Basically they need a plan B pretty quickly I think.

Spent the morning on public service ( sorting out donations in a local charity shop ) and now catching up with a coffee .
For years I have found HaM antics quite entertaining and sometimes mildly amusing but I am now getting angry.
And before anyone jumps in and says “what does it matter “ , I am a Monarchist and feel that HaM are essentially sticking two fingers up at KC following his letter .
They and their supporters say they are doing charity work however the bits I have read and seen suggest that today’s little outing is all about HaM .
I honestly think the titles have to go . They are a disgrace to the RF .

Honestly can we stop feeding the pigeons - they are flapping about, shitting all over the board and being inadvertent given disproportionate airtime and profile by others engaging with them and quoting them.

Be more RF - grey rock the tantruming toddlers.

I’m so sorry to admit this openly but I’m here for the pigeons. I don’t know why, but they fascinate.

Exactly! Will they be at the State Banquet or Sandringham at Christmas, nope because they haven't been invited as they chose to leave the royal family & proceeded to sell nasty lies so no way back now!

NautilusLionfish · Today 14:42

I think they have done really well. See bbc https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/cme8r0eexr3yo

Given Royal assignments incl one in Nepal gave Harry anxiety I hope this doesnt retraumatize him because its styled very much like a Royal visit /s

I bet there will be celebrations between them and with their team tonight. They will probably speak to Diana and sing with some seals tonight. But seriously it seems a resounding success

A quitter is exactly what Meghan is. Whatever happened to her 40 x 40 initiative? Her Spotify contract? Lemonada? Netflix?

Good point! I suppose I meant she always comes up with something new to pivot to, normally with a narrative that she is finally getting to be her “authentic self”, each time she runs out of road/interest on the current activity.

Will be interesting to what's next if the “faux royalling” peters out.

Is the man behind Harry taking a photo of himself?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · Today 14:44

Very good summing up @LookOutLookOutTomCruiseIsAbout and I agree 100%. It's now all about 'but you NEED us!' and the RF going 'actually, no, we're good, thanks.'

By what criteria?

I used Chat in this instance;

If you’re going to judge royals by how many people turn up to see them, then apply the same standard to everyone — including Harry and Meghan, as well as the working Royal Family. Compare them fairly with the crowds Queen Elizabeth II attracted at the height of her popularity. And remember that the working royals are funded and supported by a substantial publicity machine, whereas Harry and Meghan don’t have the same resources. It’s a foolish argument to make if you’re trying to prove one side is more popular than the other

I think PPs have already made the point that W+C get larger crowds than this without any publicity, whereas H+M announced this visit two weeks in advance and still had to bus in schoolchildren and send ‘aides’ around the nearest industrial estate trying to drum up crowds.

TheOvertGardener · Today 14:47

valeriy2 · Today 14:23

To the last point a resolute no - you are quite right to take me up on that. I will soon enough bore off.

My last point informs the first two.

Don’t throw stones. You don’t know anyone here nor anything about our lives, brains or hearts.

Lol, that looks pathetic. Take a look at how empty it looks with wider shots. And the bussing in of the "crowds" has already been discussed.

Of course they are winning. No matter how many fairytales you and the like invent to convince yourselves otherwise. It’s another example that shows that your opinion of them does little to disrupt their everyday life. You are part of a very small, albeit determined, minority that direct all your time and energy to hating on a couple who, through their actions, show that you do not matter.

They look completely daft. What exactly are they "winning"?

Againtwo · Today 14:53

The video shows Meghan has left the stitching in her coat vent. Which is hardly attention to detail!

Noodledog · Today 14:53

Maybe it's just me, but I'm finding this surreal. I honestly have no idea what they think they are doing - just turn up somewhere and play act being on a royal visit? It's the behaviour of the deluded. Even more bizarre is the MSM reporting on it with a degree of seriousness.

Strange times 😁

It's a win for them. They will never get the W&C crowds. If they accept that, they'll be content. Yesterday it was reported they wouldn't do a walkabout because of booing.

I think they’ll always have to curate their small crowds very carefully.

Do we need special clothes to be part of the claque?
I do hope so!

I need some 'dont panic' glasses Homers hem is riding just a little too high for my comfort. My watches stress alarm just went off looking at that.

If they stick to kiddies, people who think H could be king and folk wanting an excuse to go out for a cig?

They'll be fine.

LookOutLookOutTomCruiseIsAbout · Today 14:59

I know they can’t help the timing but this embarrassing coverage is going to look even worse when compared to the Omani state visit, Aberfan commemorations, Remembrance, W+C in Mumbai for Earthshot, then the royal carols, then Christmas morning. Not to mention whatever else the RF get up to. Poor H+M just cannot compete, no matter how many schoolchildren they manage to rustle up.

BemusedAmerican · Today 14:59

I'm hoping the extras spend their money locally in Nottingham restaurants and pubs.
