It’s all happening! 3 charity visits coming up!

I'm hoping the extras spend their money locally in Nottingham restaurants and pubs.

That would be nice hey!

I can never understand why people hand over bunches of flowers?! To people far, far richer than themselves who will almost certainly just give them away. What is the point?

I could not agree more. They won't even end up in vases at home. They'll just be chucked out.

So fucking strange. Then again, people try to give sweets & chocolates to the young royals at Xmas & Easter. The security people take them away. Freaking weirdos they must be.

Lifestooshort71 · Today 15:57

I like the colour of the coat but think having no shoulders makes it too amorphous. Shame I can't recall the name of the charity they're visiting.

swedishrhapsody · Today 15:59

One needs to learn how to get in and out of vehicles when attending engagements.

No-one needs to see one’s claspers.

British Vogue has confirmed the cream trousers were Boden. You read it here first 😂

swedishrhapsody · Today 16:03

For those of a nervous disposition - you see nowt but an inelegant dismount from a vehicle.

The burgandy really suits Meghan but the full outfit was top much & all different shades... my daughter said she's in purple the colour of royalty😂

That’s why I’m wondering if she’s planning to return it. It might not even be on loan, as such.

It may be more to do with the fact that such an obvious mistake will be bound to lead to plenty of social media commentary - I have long suspected Meghan likes to subtly troll in this way.

Your daughter is mistaken, it was a sort of brownish burgundy. Nice colour.

Yes it is burgandy, I agree & told my daughter the same! The colour is good on her & a nice choice for autumn but I think all burgandy is too much. Nice to see she accessorise with a belt this time. Her all cream ensemble badly needed a belt to break it up last week

BasiliskStare · Today 16:12

Wasn't there once a photograph of M once with the label hanging below the red? coat.
I do think she will be loaned , given clothes because she is in an investor in Only One and advertises said clothes that's fair enough. Whether wearing advertising these when on charity visits is quite the thing ( cf Australian hospital / Bondi Beach ) not so sure. That said I do not know whether M's outfits from tea with Malala or today's outing are on Only one as I do not subscribe so I'm happy to be proven wrong here.

She tends to do monochrome, it's quite an American look, I like it.

Yes, I've thought so for a while.

It increases online activity around her name, and also provides further examples of 'unpleasant trolling' of her for when she requires them.

When they said half in/half out this isn’t what they meant though did they. They meant making money and doing the big stuff, not visiting community centres.

Well yes, but the providers of the "big stuff" didn't want them, so I guess it's a matter of taking what they can get

Like the red dress with the label still on it?

That reminds me of tv show from decades ago - Never Mind The Quality Feel The Width.

🤣

We're the same vintage because I remember that as well.

Tom Sykes on the ground.
You can see an aide bringing in more children to swell the crowds.

Yes, and what are they doing prising kids out of school to watch this anyway?

Unless it was for something really major - and then they'd probably have been off anyway - I'd say this no matter which royal it was, and I honestly thought the days of getting little kids out to cheer at their "betters" was past

IcedPurple · Today 16:22

Noodledog · Today 14:53

Maybe it's just me, but I'm finding this surreal. I honestly have no idea what they think they are doing - just turn up somewhere and play act being on a royal visit? It's the behaviour of the deluded. Even more bizarre is the MSM reporting on it with a degree of seriousness.

Strange times 😁

It is bizarre, but it's of a piece with their behaviour these past several years. All those faux royal 'tours' in places like Nigeria and Colombia. "Engagements" at charities. "Statements" from the Office of the Duke and Duchess. It's been clear as day all along that they absolutely love royal status and all the trappings thereof. They just don't like that they weren't at the very top of the tree.

What makes this latest outing extra weird, of course, is that it's happening in England. Yes, Great Salty Isle which they ran out of, and which their fanz, some of them posting under new names here, assured us they would never ever return to. Yet, here they are. Visiting unglamorous places in a fairly rough Midlands city. With no security and no royal machine smoothing their path. Look at all the ugly graffiti in the background of one of the photos. That wouldn't have happened had the 'grey men' been organising things. But they weren't, and here we are.

They stepped out of a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce, faffed about aimlessly for a bit, and then clambered into a beat up Mini. It's quite the trajectory.

BemusedAmerican · Today 16:23

I really wish someone would do a real truthfull documentary about the Sussex Squad.

How are they getting these children anyway? You can't just rock up at a school and say hey, lend us a few of Yr4, can you.

Not surprised.

I was out for a couple of hours over lunch so have just managed to catch up.

Most impressed by the work of the Praetorian guard 🫡

Someone far upthread mentioned something about Harry, in contrast to the Duke of Windsor, not having been provided with an income, and hence Oprah, Spare etc.

There were some differences:
-the Duke of Windsor had been King, hence any negotiations had an entirely different starting point
-the Sussexes, when they announced their original choice to 'carve out a progressive new role within this institution', stated that they intended to 'work to become financially independent'.
-in Oprah, Harry announced that he had been 'cut off financially'. It was later discovered that the then Prince of Wales had been supporting him for at least a year after that point from the Duchy of Cornwall.
-the Duke of Windsor, having been King, owned Balmoral and Sandringham personally, and forced his brother to buy them back

Yes. How does this work? You can't just take random kids out of school

bluegreygreen · Today 16:34

Re the children - I haven't watched the videos, but some children were brought to one of the venues for a workshop. There's a photograph of them walking along towards the entrance through photographers.

Were there children brought separately to be crowd members as well?
