Of course they are winning. No matter how many fairytales you and the like invent to convince yourselves otherwise. It’s another example that shows that your opinion of them does little to disrupt their everyday life. You are part of a very small, albeit determined, minority that direct all your time and energy to hating on a couple who, through their actions, show that you do not matter.
Depends on what metrics they (not you) consider winning though.
Did they get press attention? Yes, clearly?
Did they draw a crowd? Yes they did.
Was it as big as they were hoping? We cannot know.
Did they get a massive dopamine hit from being the centre of attention? Undoubtedly yes.
Can they make any money out of this? Unlikely
Does it add to their case for armed security? Unlikely
Is this repeatable? Yes - although they’ll probably face a decline in public and press interest the more they do this - novelty is a big factor in interest here I suspect
Will it secure a future income stream? Unlikely
Looking at that’s it seems it’s been a successful tactic, yes. But is it a hallmark of a successful strategy for their future? That looks far less likely. Thinking short term has always seemed to be a problem for this couple, and so it continues.
And as others have said, they intentionally walked away from this exact life to chase stardom and riches in Los Angeles. Yet now they are back, geographically and circumstantially. Making lemonade out of lemons is laudable (and we know Meghan is not a quitter) but going back to square one because you are out of other options is not generally considered a win.
