Anyone saying 'he should be the next king' is so bloody uninformed they should be disqualified from having an opinion.

Quite.

C19 theatre / opera claques were a French thing, not Italian. Eventually spread a bit but France had the proper organised claqueurs.

I’m not sure the Praetorian allusion worked particularly well either. But hey ho.

From the DM "Harry was in playful mood and was pictured tickling a man's ginger beard. "

Well I suppose if you've got the roadworks barriers up and people are facing you it's harder to slap them on the bottom. 😂

And yet the BBC thought fit to broadcast that opinion. The Huw Edwards fawning era is well and truly over.

Maybe the BBC are taking the piss 😆

They have “put Nottingham on the map”? So Robin Hood, Brian Clough, the lace industry and Raleigh Bicycles didn’t manage to do that then? 😆😆

Once again they are scuppered by timing.

Way down on the lunchtime news. Tucked neatly behind Donaldson and Brand. And many others.

Varangian guard wouldn't work any better, either. How about 'claque of sycophants'? that's got a ring to it and is multi-use.

I hope Harry asked permission. No bearding without consent, please H.

We might well say the same about the lady who commented "The youth of Nottingham need someone to look up to", MrsD

Call me picky but I wouldn't personally include a self confessed druggie and proven liar who lacks any concept of accountability, willingly trashes everything else in his own interests and has failed at just abvout everything he's ever attempted, but there's no accounting for taste

Unless “tickling a man’s ginger beard” is a euphemism 😂

I reckon he’s got an eye on it for his next syrup.

1325 and on the news.

Crowds is stretching it a touch.

It would depend on the youth, really. Perhaps their life is so miserable and lacking in achievement that looking up to a self confessed druggie and proven liar who lacks any concept of accountability, willingly trashes everything else in his own interests and has failed at just about everything he's ever attempted, would actually be an improvement and a role model.

I'm sure Nottingham isn't THAT bad, though. Anyway, they may as well milk it, their enthusiasm won't last and it's not long before they fade into insignificance with the Wales children growing up.

Janiie · Today 13:29

I wonder why they do this knowing it is exactly what the late Queen said no to back in 2020.

It is bizarre to see them prancing about as if working royals. Why not stick to private charity stuff, must he have the attention to boost his ego?

I do think KC needs to do something to stop them, surely it is a conflict of interests for them to be so blatantly 'competing' against the RF.

Are the ham haters of MN out in force then? Clearly people have too much time on their hands or nothing else to do. Bread and circuses spring to mind

swedishrhapsody · Today 13:30

The reporter is saying it ‘looks and feels very Royal’.

Does it though?

‘Looks and feels’ don’t count.

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · Today 13:30

They are so pig headed, determined to bulldoze their way back into being working royals, whilst still earning commercially. We don’t want or need that or them.

Bet there is an OF for it

BemusedAmerican · Today 13:32

Has anyone actually asked some Nottingham youth if they do look up to Harry? BTW, that toupe that he is allegedly wearing isn't working.

Trump blew off another BBC deposition date. He's too busy being president but may be free in December. We have Thanksgiving here in the US in November and he has to pardon the turkeys (sorry - that doesn't mean clearing up Harry's visa issue). At least the BBC has Harry to comfort them.

Just to mention this is very near to me, and a friend who works on the area's industrial estate tells me they and several other businesses were visited by someone (PR staff? They didn't know ...,) who said excitedly that the couple were coming and did they want to come and watch

So it appears the schoolchildren weren't the only ones being dragooned in ...

I'm catching up. Does this happen for actual royal visits? I don't get the impression that their teams whip up a crowd.

AutumnCrowRidingThroughTheGlen · Today 13:34

valeriy2 · Today 13:11

Oh dear the Beeb is letting it's sympathies show ...

I feel this is just mocking people now who don’t understand how the UK constitutional monarchy works, and who are wedded to the perceived comfort of social media and celebrity.

'Looks and feels' generally means 'will pass for the real thing but if you look closely is obviously cheap version and won't fool anybody.' Not sure that's what the reporter meant to convey.

valeriy2 · Today 13:35

Well at the very least the damp squib fox has been well and truly shot. So back to fake royals and grifting accusations from the 'claquers'.
