This is a multilocation visit so crowds are building at a second place - no doubt when they have finished inside they will have 'swelled'.

I am 30 miles away from Nottingham and can see people surging down the street if I look out of the window.

I write like that hence the post.Don't worry I'm busy clearing the house on eBay and just popped in for a mo to see how it was going and hopefully help the OP with the answer to her question.

Actually, I've been posting articles in the past day proving that Williams behind the scenes work has more impact than opening a supermarket, so you unintentionally proved my point.

BTW, Prince William did a firehouse visit when he went to NYC. It wasn't announced. Local cops told passersby that he was coming, and an unplanned crowd of NYers showed up to see him.

Please note that his security wasn't shoving innocent bystanders.

Prince William visits iconic FDNY firehouse during NYC visit to meet with Big Apple’s top fire officials

Prince William toured the FDNY’s iconic Ten House in lower Manhattan Tuesday, where he met with the city’s top fire officials and was greeted with loud cheers from the crowd.

There’s a fair bit of Welsh nationalism in the BBC Cymru Wales newsroom. (Rhun ap Iorwerth himself is an ex BBC journalist.)

As far as I remember, this year was the first Senedd election since William became PoW so not sure how he is supposed to have attended as PoW before.

The poem was rejected for references to Gaza and the trans debate, nothing to do with the RF I don’t think.

Yes, shoehorning the story about the poet into this particular news report was quite egregious.

Are they running towards the HaMs or trying to get away?

It's a win for them. It's project rehabilitation for them. H plugging Diana and his MH for all it's worth to try to gain sympathy. If they play the long game, it might well work out for them

Balanced, brief coverage on Radio 4's 1pm bulletin.

Visitor's 'soft spot' for Harrypublished at 12:26

Mary Kate, 87, from Hyson Green in Nottingham, says she has a "soft spot" for Harry.
She said: "I'm here because of Harry. I love him.
"I think it's because of what he's gone through. What the papers have done to destroy him."
Mary added the couple had "put Nottingham on the map".
"Good luck to them," she added.

They have “put Nottingham on the map”? So Robin Hood, Brian Clough, the lace industry and Raleigh Bicycles didn’t manage to do that then? 😆😆

I’m bundling the entire family onto a train right now.

Well let us hope that H keeps his hands to himself and doesn’t go tweaking nipples or pinching bottoms.

No doubt he swells when he does that.

Poor old Mary Kate 87 if only she was on here you could educate her out of her plebeian views.

How much did they slip her? 😁( meant as cynical humorous comment)

“I personally think he should be the next King”.

That’s not how it works love…

StrawberryWasp · Today 13:14

I do find it galling them prancing about as if they are royal. And wish people would ignore them or boo them.

Personally I think their past behaviour combined with the hubris of pseudo royal engagements deserves boos.

But I console myself with the thought that they can do this self aggrandising pretence all they want. It won't make them royal. It's not their job. It's a little ego soothing hobby for them.

And it may get headlines but it's gossip headlines.

When it comes to representing the state, official occasions, duties and roles, and even now family occasions they have nothing. It will all be KC and PoWs.

And if M didn't like doing visits before because 'she wasn't getting paid ' she's really not going to like doing many visits to Midlands towns she'd never heard of as a hobby.

This is temporarily attractive to her only to annoy the royals. She won't be maintaining free visits to small charities outside London for very long.

valeriy2 · Today 13:14

The Beeb is really doing us proud - here's a royalist to boot who hasn't taken sides !

Not to mention a university founded in 1881.

I always wonder when the media prints these positive reactions just how many people saying 'nope, not bothered,' and 'what the hell, I was just on my way to Tescos and wondered what the fuss was,' they have to flip through before they get all the glowing 'oooh, they're so lovely' ones.

I'm only 15 miles away, Ida, and here the road's getting like the crowd scenes from Gandhi Wink

Meanwhile I'm reading some of the comments reported by the BBC - "I love him", "He treats everyone the same", "He should be the next king" - and wonder if the rather cruel journo's comment about these people wasn't on point:

"Fewer IQ points than teeth"

50 people though., bloody hell. Was nobody in the area of the second stop interested? Was there nobody available to go round the nearest industrial estate trying to persuade people to turn out? Or were they just told where to go? Are the first crowd booked for all three venues but have to get between them independently, hence the delay? There’s not much fun in arriving to stand outside a building that H+M are in, I wouldn’t have thought.

I was commenting because you highlighted it. One person saying something like that doesn’t make it much of a “win”

Exactly & it won't get them an invite to the state banquet or an invite to Sandringham with the kids at Christmas, those are the things that matter!

Anyone saying 'he should be the next king' is so bloody uninformed they should be disqualified from having an opinion.

On X they look considerably bigger now - they are doing cookery indoors now.

And yet the BBC thought fit to broadcast that opinion. The Huw Edwards fawning era is well and truly over.
