William doesn’t do much with the BBC post Bashir, so they fall over themselves for any royal coverage they can get. Harry is evidently not so discerning, signing up with NF while they were busy dramatising his mother’s mental health struggles and death for mass entertainment in The Crown, doesn’t mind the BBC which was responsible for the deception that led to her abandoning her security, and also happy to work with CBS who broadcast photos of Diana in the car after the crash.

And then the BBC reports its Sussex Squad Propaganda, calls it ‘news’, rips off licence fee payers and wonders why there’s political and popular push-back on its funding.

The latest Director General needs to get a grip.

Who was it predicting the hand on heart, 'all this for little ME?' pose?

You win the thread!

For some reason the link won't post but you can check it out yourself.

Have to laugh at this.

"Large crowds gathered for Harry and Meghanpublished at 11:19

Our journalists at the CRS estimate a couple of hundred people had gathered for the arrival of Harry and Meghan."

Since when is 'a couple of hundred' equivalent to a 'large crowd'?

Gonners · Today 11:31

One of the captions from that DM article:

More than 100 people were waiting for the couple in the East Midlands this morning

I hope nobody got trampled in the crush.

Starryfifty · Today 11:31

a crowd of 200 is a lot more that I expected tbh

IdaGlossop · Today 11:33

Good morning @jeffgoldblum and company. I am the Saccharine Squad today. I really like Meghan's outfit - a simple silhouette in a season-appropriate colour which will stand out in online and print press coverage without shouting.

Now I'm off to make a cottage pie, a task which will fortify me for whatever comments come my way soon 😁

Her bare legs do not look attractive.

The burgandy like the cream is too much & it's all different shades of purple... another fashion fail, I actually had high hopes for today as she looked fantastic yesterday in London

Exactly as I predicted, school children being shipped in.

Other people children again!

They are popular and genuinely so not that many here want to hear this. William and Kate have had much smaller crowds on a regular basis. Oh dear sorry to be the bearer of bad news for your hate fest !

God, they're just awful, awful human beings aren't they?

The second stop for Harry and Meghan will be Himmah, a charity in Hyson Green that seeks to tackle poverty, food insecurity, racism and social exclusion through community meals, food parcels and providing support.
The couple will first see a cooking class at the Himmah Hub, before visiting the charity's food bank.
The Duchess's relationship with Himmah grew after the Together: Our Community Cookbook was published in 2018.
In 2021, Meghan donated £10,000 to Himmah from sales, which Harry then matched with his own donation - saying: "Nottingham holds a special place in my heart, having had the privilege of visiting and supporting the community there for over a decade."

Himmah says the charity "needed to show solidarity" with the Duchess of Sussex.

Thanks for posting this. Those poor little girls obviously have no clue who this weirdo is trying to talk to them!

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · Today 11:38

William doesn’t do much with the BBC post Bashir,

I'm not discounting a 'well fuck YOU, mate,' from the BBC. Royal broadcasts were not automatically on the BBC after the way they treated the QM's death, which was pretty much 'well, she's 100, no big deal, right?'

FallenNight · Today 11:38

I bumped into Catherine recently at a hospital garden opening. I was there for an appointment. Had no idea she was going to be there. Hardly any crowds, mainly hospital staff on breaks and patients outside on a cigarette break! But then again it was not really publicized at all. So even as a local I had no idea she would be there until she turned up. It later got a write up in the local news praising the fundraisers and volunteers who had worked on the garden.

This appearance has been publicized as it is their first joint appearance in the UK for 4 years. So one might expect the crowds to be a bit bigger if there was genuine interest and love.

And all their own money - just look tat the love in many of the faces of the video I supplied. No 2 more helicopters on the public purse for them unlike the Heir.

Yes, a 'couple of hundred' people in a city the size of Nottingham, where visits from 'celebrities' aren't that common, really isn't impressive. Especially as many of them probably just happened to be out and about and thought they'd have a gander at what all the fuss is about.

Where are they popular? There are a few dozen people in a small space with close-up shots to make the crowd look bigger. The more zoomed-out shots show a paltry crowd. It looks ridiculous.

They are emulating a walkabout. William and Catherine have much, much bigger crowds at walkabouts. If you're talking about William and Catherine visiting the inside of a building, then of course there are going to be smaller crowds because only people who have something to do in that building will be there.

Why are they awful? They want to be working royals again. It's not worked out in California, but I don't know why. Maybe they were happy doing royal stuff and wanted to give it another go? No idea

What's 'royal stuff' though? Anyone can visit a charity.

The whole point of royals is that they represent the Monarchy. Harry and Meghan don't.

How can you possibly hate that amount of bronzer?

Nothing says celebrity more than white hands and a Hawaiian Tropic face.

I know! The Express headline is more realistic:

Prince Harry and Meghan dealt blow as fewer than 200 people in crowd for first UK visit

Yes because the 'engagement' wasn't announced in advance in the hope of attracting maximum crowds and publicity.

Seriously, if you're going to compare Harry with William then you're on to a loser in just about every single way. I thought Harry found freedom to avoid those sort of comparisons anyway? How did that work out for him?

It is isn't it - you would think they would ignore them and concentrate on bigging up the successes of the Institution but many seem to get unconstrained glee at poring down bile on this hapless pair as if they are channelling some sort of evil. As Justine rightly said it's unhinged.
