Just to add that I think H and M want people to see they have security ( therefore ViPs) and it wouldn’t suit them to have security blending in .

There's visible security and then there's a guy hoisting a f**ing kevlar shield over the 'principal's' behind. I swear I've never seen that with any senior figure - honestly the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Apart from anything, it's clear that Harry is the one demanding this, if it were Megan, there'd be a kevlar shield behind her too. Absolutely insane manufactured levels of threat for a child's school. The only redeeming feature of that photo is the level of side-eye that almost everyone else in the photo is directing towards them.

Some of us have very long feet, why do other women find that so hard to understand?

No, it’s the camera angle. M doesn’t usually look like that!

OhTheHamanity · 28/09/2026 17:12

If only H went out and about with the raging great mop he remarkably sprouts for magazine covers, there would be no need for Kevlar shields.

It looks thicker than a helmet.

Where was this ? I must have missed it .

This was in Columbia so they had much higher levels of security. Iirc there were hundreds of security/police guards, an ambulance on stand by, etc. That trip was mystifying in how pointless it was for the effort put in.

Thank-you, dear HAM, for increasing my knowledge of our wonderful world on 28 September 2026. Until today, I had never heard of a Kevlar shield. Now I know what one looks like, what it's for, and how it works. I also now understand that the threat level from shrapnel and projectiles in primary schools is high. Some may say (but not me) that given this threat, all primary children should be equipped with a Kevlar shield as part of their school uniform. But I am one who fully understands that it is the national order of things that a Prince of the Realm should have his arse covered while little mites perish. With eternal thanks 🙏 🙏 🙏

Yes, I'm always uncomfortable with personal comments.

There is plenty to criticise in Sussex behaviour, without criticising physical characteristics.

Very visible security, usually 'bulky' exWWE/UFC looking blokes in too tight suits to show off their bulk, is one mark of the C (and below) List celeb in H'wood. That type of security detail is intended to show how famous they are, or rather, that they want others to think they are. It also does draw the eye, but not of the A & B List in attendance. Or to the People Who Really Matter if you want to advance your career.

Of course there are some A & B List who do the 'security circus', but most usually have more 'subdued' security, from invisible to more like the Secret Service presents itself. You know who the SS agents are if you look for them, but they don't really stand out.

One of my Russian customers has a team of 5 chaps all look and dress like Dior models. They also have beautiful manners ❤️ I am ever so slightly in love with them 😂😂

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/09/2026 17:31

Whoopiedooo · 28/09/2026 14:27

Why do the security men always look unfit and overweight? Or am I only noticing those ones?

Perhaps they're the only ones Harry can afford, Whoopiedooo?

I'm told that close protection's a popular job among ex-special forces personnel and I can't imagine they're fat and unfit, but then like all quality I doubt they're cheap either

Talking of the European Royals- I was struck by how warm and respectful William was with everyone at the king of Norway's funeral. Harry in Spare talked about how Charles 'droned on about European royals who were relatives' and Harry tuned out because it was boring. He really isn't fit to represent the monarch.

Just when I think he can't be more idiotic in print...

I work in the NHS, I want a kevlar shield.

Mr AutumnCrow sometimes likes to pretend he’s my security guard when we go shopping: he wears black clothes and sunglasses, and adopts that particular stance while glancing around. He thinks it’s hilarious.

He has also just presented me with a ‘get well soon’ present of a Pulse Oximeter so I can ‘monitor’ my vital signs when I feel ‘anxious’. He’s going to need more than a Kevlar vest one of these days. Grin

IdaGlossop · 28/09/2026 17:38

Given H's all-round buffoonery, what can being married to him be like? Does he have redeeming features? I imagine him lurking around the house, under-employed,bored, sulky, irascible, half cut.

Apparently brave Harry always needs security while visiting school children!

I know the talk's turned to the Kevlar shield, jeff, but he's also "showcasing" his groin yet again with that stance

What IS it about his need to do this? Hasn't it occurred to him that every other male has the same, or has Meghan convinced him that his is somehow special? Confused

His main redeeming feature was papa's Coutt's account. Was.

I remember reading that one of his previous gfs (Cressida?) said that he was very unromantic, sulky, silent and generally miserable around the flat.

You’d be forgiven thinking that his main redeeming feature now is his little man, given that he keeps pointing to it.

What next? Cupping a moob?

I noticed this too. If he's sitting, he often has his hand right in front. At this school visit, he also did a little dance with his groin thrust forward. Not a huge deal in and of itself, but a bit of a pattern.

When I was a teen one of our 'fun things to do' was for one of us to walk into a shop alone wearing dark glasses and start looking at things. Then in a few minutes the rest of us (like 3 girls) would come in and start looking. We'd the start to whisper to each other and one of us would approach the 'lone shopper' and excitedly ask for their autograph, then the others would ask too. We used to get a kick out of the other shoppers trying figure out who the hell the 'lone shopper' was.

We were very easily amused back then.

Honestly, he seems obsessed with it ! However he won’t be the first or last man to be that way inclined, however you would expect a prince to be slightly less public about it!! 🤣

Perhaps the Henry VIII genes prevail. His cod piece in that Holbein portrait looks awfully optimistic.

I have a kevlar glove in my kitchen, stops me chopping my fingers off.
