If Harry goes ahead it will be spare 2 or the same format as Spencer’s book…however this will slag off his father and his brother….he has nothing of note to say and he’s too petty to not use any platform as a means to stick the boot in.

I think that’s absolutely right. He will also slag off the palace machinery and the very people who were protecting him from himself before Meghan. He would use it as a platform to air every grievance, make allegations (substantiated or not), all while saying “I love my family and don’t want to cause them any harm, this is my truth, I wish they could be as free as I am to use my voice”. He will paint Diana as the mostly saintly of women, the only person who ever saw him or loved him for who he was, say that after she died he had nobody (and then he met Meghan). He’ll talk about how he sees echoes of his mum in his wife and daughter, how he’s the luckiest man alive to be able to give them a free childhood, the opposite of his, that America was where his mum also felt free so he gets it. Completely predictable, possibly some new scandalous piece of gossip, heavy on his life which Meghan made possible for him, and that now he really, really will lay his mother’s ghost to rest and this will be the last of it from him [until next time]. It’ll be beautifully shot, a few pally strolls around althorp with uncle Chuck, back in Montecito which is where his family feels free and private, then back to the rolling hills of England which he will proclaim he loves in his very dna. Bonus points (and dollars) for full face cameos of his children.

The problem is that Harry has said previously in the Netflix series that he has very few childhood memories of Diana. Which in itself is a bit odd for a 13 year old - but it would strain credibility if he suddenly claimed a lot of memories.

It's not odd... I was a bit younger than Harry when my Mum died and I have very few memories of her. Not sure why...maybe trauma.

Scorchio84 · 28/09/2026 00:27

💐for @Seasidewalker & @UncleColm grief definitely plays tricks on your memories

wordler · 28/09/2026 02:50

Memory is a very weird thing - my MIL and her DSis have a long running never to be resolved argument about a specific incident that both claim happened to them.

It is basically something like a specific road trip with specific incidents that happened along the way.

Logically it can only have happened to one of them but somehow whoever originally did the road-trip described the journey so well that both of them remember specific details - like the pattern of wallpaper and carpets in motels, conversations that happened in restaurants, one potentially dangerous incident.

They can both go into tiny details and are both outraged that the other is claiming the story. I can tell they each believe they are the one telling the truth.

Unfortunately anyone who could verify the story are all dead.

Agree. She will only have thought as deeply as Wallis = American in the Royal Family. She will understand nothing further about the background to Wallis and Edward being ostracised, Wallis’ political leanings or the reasons for the deep resentment at the huge upheaval that was caused to George vi and his family

She probably thinks Wallis = American in the Royal Family. And her husband loved her so much he gave up his family / role in the RF to be with her. It’s a true love story.

So, in order to not be the second best American to have ever been in the RF, she needs Harry to give up his family / role in the RF to be with her. She’s competing with Wallis.

What could he possibly have known at his age? William is the son who knows where the bodies were buried because he was older and Diana leaned very heavily on him. The only Diana doc worth watching is one that shows her many flaws as well as her many strengths.

Yes, If Piers Morgan is to be believed, when he had lunch at Kensington Palace, William was there too and he said Diana was very open in discussing things with him, even her relationships. Harry doesn’t seem to have been privy to any of that, so most of what he will recount about her personal life will be third hand.

That being said, I do think there will be a big audience for it, look at Spencer’s book, immediately a bestseller.

Spencer's book was controversial and hit the headlines not because it was about Diana, but because of his accusations against the King.

Williaminagingerwig · 28/09/2026 06:24

My two adult DC are in their 30s, they know who Diana was, bit aren't particularly interested in reading or watching about her. They said their friends are the same. Unless Harry really digs the dirt, I would think his project is of limited interest.

Thats true, which is why I think Harry will do another hatchet job on his father and his parents marriage, along with the RF, all in the name of Diana, as that is what will bring in the money. Weren’t there rumours he had meetings with Al Fayed before he died, so he could go down the conspiracy route.

Harry also said he had enough unused content from Spare to publish a 2nd book, will he use that? Again in the guise of a documentary about his mum.

It will only be a blockbuster if there are some dramatic new revelations or huge controversies.

You're probably right. That's all Harry has and it wouldn't surprise me at all. Some of those headliines would be clickbait for sure!

I am just waiting for HAM to say the incident at the RAF base in Gloucestershire increases their need for security.

LOL, I thought exactly the same.

Multibarpack · 28/09/2026 07:00

Re unused material from spare. I don’t believe he never told his ghost writer it or publisher the ‘material’. It would be that they didn’t consider it worth including. When you consider the pettiness of what was actually included, just imagine how much more petty the stuff left out was. Every perceived childhood slight writ large. Not just an extra sausage - William also got the last rolo!

So it seems likely that William had a much more “warts and all” experience of his mother and was aware of her tangled emotional life. H just sees her as his perfect mummy. I don’t mean that scornfully- it’s just a fact.

Therefore H doesn’t see the potential pitfalls in dragging her out for public attention again whereas it’s extremely painful for William and he’s all too aware of the seamy side which might be exposed all over again.

Poor William. He got, and still gets, a raw deal as Diana’s son: no credit but most of the emotional burden.

I assumed it was content from when the book was being written, so it was either not interesting enough or it was deemed too contentious to be included.

Maybe they initially had a Spare 2 planned, but Harry backtracked on that, he backtracked on publishing Spare in paperback, although I think that was possibly more down to the publisher realizing the market was over saturated with the original hardback publication. .

Mine are also in their thirties. They have absolutely no interest in the RF and could barely name them. Their friends are the same.

SqueakyDinosaur · 28/09/2026 07:16

H has suggested in interviews that at least some of what he left out of Spare was because he 'didn't want to cause trouble' with the RF. So I think what's been left out is a mixture of the incredibly petty and the potentially inflammatory.

Quite. It's extraordinary how poor his judgement is.

I agree, it's really not a younger generation thing. Diana's relevance has diminished.

I know Harry isn’t the brightest but does he not realise the dangerous game he is playing ? In the future his brother will be King and I am fairly certain that non working members of the Royal family will lose their titles .
Without their titles the Sussexes are even less relevant.

Mondommountain · 28/09/2026 08:03

Guess they will need to move back to the US pronto, US embassy has issued warning to US citizens in UK to exercise caution after the terrorist attack on the US army base. I would say Harry is hounding the home office as we write.

Hard to believe it was foiled by a passing resident, Trump trying to make out it was foiled jointly by the UK and US intelligence, no one was answering the phone at the airbase. What a disgrace.

I think Harry has decided to go for it while HM is still alive. While we can see that that's not the best of ideas, Harry isn't a long term strategic thinker who considers consequences - and William doesn't strike me as the sort of person who forgives easily. In that respect he's very like Diana.
