“They are banking on it being a global phenomenon, first on the big screen and then streaming on TV. And it’s going to make a fortune for Harry, Meghan and their Archewell production company.

“From this one project, it is even possible that in one shot they will earn more than the entire $100 million (£75m) five-year contract they signed with <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/U3jhl/www.express.co.uk/latest/netflix" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Netflix when they first arrived in America. It’s that big of a deal.”

Whoever the 'source' is clearly hasn't got a clue. We know they didn't make anything like $100 million from their NF deal. And the idea of queues around the corner to see a Diana film is fantasy.

“Princess Di is still loved by people in every corner of the planet,” our production source said, “so green-lighting this film was an absolute no-brainer.”

Really? Who outside the English speaking world cares about Diana? Even in Britain, nobody much under 50 is that interested. What more is there to be said about her? She really wasn't that fascinating.

I loved Diana and was really upset when she died.
l hoovered up every article about her, every book every tv show.
BUT I’m firmly on the side of William now. By the time the 20th anniversary came I genuinely felt it was well past the time to leave her alone and to rest in peace.
I wouldn’t go and see this. I wouldn’t watch it even though I’ve got Netflix as it just encourages Harry to keep on milking his poor dead mother.
My mum (huge royalist) wouldn’t go either. Nor would anyone I know be interested in watching it.
The world has moved on so so much since she died and it truly is time to let her rest and consign her to history. I feel so so sorry for her, for William and for the King who I think did love her -just not enough.

Oh ffs Grin

Im sure that the twats are saying they’re ’banking’ on it, but any fool can bank on whatever they like.

HaM are really not the sort of ‘fucking grifters’ I’d be investing in with actual money. Not without buy-in from the Big Cheeses of the family.

If I was Netflix I'd be cashing in on the Markles & Doria's side. Many would like to hear what they have to say!
They backed the wrong horse in Ham.. bring on the Markles please!

JSMill · 27/09/2026 19:12

I’m going to against the grain and say I there is interest in Diana and her death amongst the younger generation, in the same way my generation was interested in the deaths of JFK and Marilyn Monroe. Young people love a conspiracy theory and my dcs have expressed on several occasions their
nel that Diana was associated. I think there is also an interest in Diana as a style icon. I was really surprised that my 10 year old dd was annoyed when I went to the Diana exhibition at KP in 2018. She happily came with me to view her wedding dress at KP a couple of years later.

You know what would make money? A documentary about HAM that exposed the truth about who they are and how they operate.

Even 6 one hour episodes.

Wardrobe malfunctions and fashion fails

The hypocrisy of the parents

Drugs, lies and manipulation

Etc.

Yep narrated by the Markles!

Cocolapew · 27/09/2026 19:27

Scorchio84 · 27/09/2026 17:00

Wow that must have been fascinating Coco!! Was the villa beautiful?

Also yes I'm a size 8 & I can be sure as shit there'd be no way I'd fit into any of the clothes from the 30/40/50's

It was beautiful, it wasn't massive, nothing like it's portrayed on The Crown😁

See, this is what I am waiting for but I will probably carked it before anyone has the chops to make it. Bring it on!

Cocolapew · 27/09/2026 19:29

Disna was probably in St Tropez as the Al-Fayeds have another villa down there.

The thing is regarding the cameras at the school visit, next time he talks of his trauma, you can guarantee the interviewer will not pick him up on this. It is absolutely pissing me off that after 6 years no one has the balls to really question him.

This is like Harry's "Uvalde" moment - remember when Meghan used a school shooting as a PR exercise and was seen directing the cameras to get the right "grief stricken" shot?

Cocolapew · 27/09/2026 19:35

I don't want to detail but the villa was kept as it was, there was a on-site art expert chronicling everything and an Italian man who was very good at, ahem, copying art and sculptures.

canklesmctacotits · 27/09/2026 19:35

A good Diana documentary actually could be a massive thing around the world. She was front cover not just in the UK and Europe, but also many African and Asian nations and not just commonwealth or ex-commonwealth ones. Als the Caribbean and a few South American countries. But it would have to be good, by which I mean it would have to reveal new facts/“facts”, be told a new perspective, reveal stuff about palace machinery. Harry has the knowledge and with the right machine behind him could produce something somewhat novel. But I think he’s already made himself so vulnerable to attack, to cries of hypocrisy and lies that it would be quite easy to at least rebut any new offerings. And if Meghan gets in on it, it would be game over. The whole thing would be too distastefully grifting (especially if money goes to Archewell) that perhaps they’d make money but they’d be over, absolutely over, in any social circles that they might be interested in.

Cocolapew · 27/09/2026 19:36

Is this worth a buy at 99p?

I don't think Harry has the knowledge. He was raised in a very aristocratic way, from 8 he was at boarding school, and with nannies. I doubt Diana told him much. That last summer he was mostly with his Dad.
He can talk about the funeral, but he's already done that.

But what is there left to say ? Diana’s story has been told so many times , books , programmes , interviews .
As we are repeatedly told , H was only 12 when she died , spent most of his time at boarding school and only saw his mother for short periods . What new facts could he have ?
And what about William ? You know , Diana’s other son who some people are trying to airbrush from her life ? Surely he would have to give permission for personal photos etc to be used ?
I hope that none of her close friends and family agree to participate.

I think he could talk about his day to day life after the divorce, what it was like being told abc by the MIGS and xyz by his dad, what he learned about his mum after the fact as a grown up, what it was like when Camilla married his dad, about the weirdness of having Diana as a mum and having people like John Travolta dining out on that one dance, about the decision making processes in the palace - just so much stuff from the inside. Basically, cheap inside gossip, completely one sided but his story/truth.

He would give his perspective and needn’t even reference his brother. There can’t even be a pretence that this would be a rounded perspective, seeing as nobody inside her birth family or the RF will participate. It would just be about his and his life and his mum and her influence on him.

Gonners · 27/09/2026 20:10

So it would just be a work of fiction, then?

Not fiction necessarily (although given his output since he first flounced, probably so in a “recollections may vary” way), just his version of things. It’ll be about him and his life. He can’t pretend that it would be an impartial, fact-based account because he won’t have the ability or access to provide such a thing. Besides, all of these biopics have an agenda or a side.

How far back in time would the archivists go, I wonder? I'd love to see some of the correspondence between Victoria and her Prime Ministers, but also ... Tudor and Stuart history, imagine!

The Royal Archives mainly go back to George III but plus some Stuart stuff from the Pretenders which was bequeathed to Queen Victoria by the last of the Stuarts.

Gonners · 27/09/2026 20:25

I think it would be extremely dull, because we're all many of us are finding his version of events quite tedious and even the comedy is wearing off. I suppose the Americans might enjoy it?

Reminds me of Bruce Forsyth when asked if he’d ever met Elvis. “No, but then he never got to meet me either.”

I LOVE this 😂😂

Yeah it stinks of HaM Bute

Ha, love a bit of Brucie. From him it’s a joke, from Meghan.. to describe herself as something that Diana missed out on shows an absolutely monstrous ego imo. Unfortunately for Meghan though, she’s not the DIL who wears Diana’s engagement ring, the one who’s going to be queen 😬

And nor is Harry the DS who looks just like Diana and is going to be king.

It’s unbelievable that they still haven’t come to terms with that yet.

But he’s selling it as a documentary about Diana, not yet more shiteing on about him and his life. Haven’t we all heard enough? Who is interested in any more?

wordler · 27/09/2026 20:39

But they did a very lovely documentary for the 20th anniversary - there was some new private family video footage and her two sons talking together about her. It was a really nice piece - was very popular but still not groundbreaking or worthy of a cinematic release.

What could Harry’s documentary offer that hadn’t been done before?

John Travolta 'dined out' on that dance???

Err, you do know John Travolta's career do you? Lots ro 'dine out on' that are far more famous than a dance with Diana...
