No. I think he is a good King.

He’s waited so long I can’t imagine him willingly giving up what they see as a duty

Suszieq · 17/09/2026 20:09

100% abdicate

Cucurella · 17/09/2026 20:13

Because Harry and Meghan are back in the UK? Really?

Sometimessmiling · 17/09/2026 20:14

Yes, mind you I wish they would all go. Ridiculous having a Royal unelected family..

Princessfluffy · 17/09/2026 20:26

If he abdicated he could have a simpler relationship with Harry.

No, although I wish they'd all just disappear. Kings and Queens belong in fairy tales, not in real life.

BirdLandedonmyHead · 17/09/2026 20:28

Maybe when George is an adult.

HoraceCope · 17/09/2026 20:29

He won't live until then.

I'm not sure whether he should abdicate, but I don't think any of the reasons in your OP would be good reasons for/necessitate abdication.

nocoolnamesleft · 17/09/2026 20:32

Nope. That just brings it closer to the kids.

Who won't live? I don't understand this post.

The alternative is electing a President.
Do you have anyone in mind?
Obviously, that would not work.

Danhausenrocks · 17/09/2026 20:33

Why? Genuinely?

He won't live until then.

Hes only 77, 5 more years seems ratger lujely even with hus health issues

Ridley4 · 17/09/2026 20:34

No I think he is doing a great job. I have a lot of respect for him and am not remotely interested in Harry and Meghan. I hope they are happy and settled here but they’ve taken the decision to be non working royals

Dearover · 17/09/2026 20:35

Recollections vary

Charles Spencer must be finding things tight in the run up to Christmas. Such a paragon of virtue himself.

Calling · 17/09/2026 20:35

The late Queen did not abdicate and she faced many obstacles.
Don't you understand that monarchs make a vow? They make it in Westminster Abbey.

He is ... a difficult person.

WhiteFramesandPlanes · 17/09/2026 20:37

No. William's children are still too young, he won't want the job yet

TeenToTwenties · 17/09/2026 20:38

No, he is doing fine.

itispersonal · 17/09/2026 20:39

It’s been 29 years since Diana died! Why release the book now? And actually who cares what either of them said nearly 30 years ago. Charles and Diana shouldn’t have married and both families were at fault for that!

And no I don’t think he needs to abdicate, William doesn’t want the job ….. yet!!??
