IF - and it’s a big IF - HAM are awarded taxpayer funded security could RAVEC advise ( instruct) them to keep a lower profile , stay off SM etc ?

I'm not sure that's really their role, Mylovelygreendress, but as everyone's seen, advising/instructing H&M doesn't tend to have positive results. They're out of control, and while the RF can try to "cover" themselves with statements about their position it unlikely to make any difference to their actual behaviour

We still don't know the real story behind the departure from the US, but I'm with the PP who thought there'll be a lot more to it than the more obvious money/visa issues, etc., and whether the real truth will ever come to light is anyone's guess

I find H's lax behaviour over security quite extraordinary. I have several friends who are ex-military and served in conflict zones. They are always warned not to talk about the detail of their service in any capacity. The claims in Spare about H's service in Afghanistan not only runs against this advice but effectively paints a target on HAM's back. Given the editing process left this in I can only see this as deliberate.

^^

Very much agree, and like you I do think it's highly suspicious that some of the claims weren't removed during the editing process.

Who wants to get mixed up in that. I pity the school

Sorry to go backwards, but all this talk of security problems with the convoy takes me back a link posted very very early on in these threads, where a former police officer talked about the specialist driver training he undertook and why HaM would want to keep it. He made a thing of how close they all had to drive to each other, in rush hour traffic and not get separated (albeit with outriders).

The notion that professional security are having their convoy disrupted by yummy mummies on the school run makes me alternatively laugh and shudder at why you’d hire such incompetent security professionals. Driver training is by no means something that only the police can do, and the difficulties in maintaining a convoy without outriders during rush hour would be obvious from google maps!

Agree it’s odd and it could well be that it was done with an eye on trying to force the security issue. Equally it could be that Harry didn’t think about the consequences and was just “bigging up his part”. I think he is that naive

SqueakyDinosaur · 16/09/2026 13:32

The thing about wanting outriders and convoys reminds me of a story about Prince Andrew in his pomp, claiming to I think Boris Johnson that he had all sorts of brilliant ideas for revolutionising productivity and so on in the UK. When questioned, they all boiled down to "I think it should be possible to alter the traffic lights so that members of the RF don't ever have to stop at them when they're going somewhere". BJ was quoted as saying to one of his deputies (he was Mayor at the time) "Christ almighty, I'm not a republican, but I will be if I ever have to endure a lunch like that again".

A lot of them simply seem to be saying that M shagged about a bit before she married H. Personally I don't think this is a big deal. Who cares? I don't. If it's even true, then surely any shame should be on the horrible US casting system in the entertainment industry. So I just want to get that out there - and make the point that it's American/US 'blinds' that are pushing the misogyny, not a talk board from the UK.

I am, however, bothered about HaM's appalling behaviour as a duo since meeting each other; and also any illegalities of H's during his adult life and his misogyny while enjoying royal privileges. I am particularly pissed of by their current shenanigans and attempts at PR spin that once again makes the UK out to be an awful country that's just not good enough for them.

Agree with all this.

As we're discussing the blinds again, one reason I dislike them, apart from the fact that they alter the basis of conversation (which here is usually factual reporting), is that they usually contain unpleasant and unprovable allegations against one or other of the Sussexes, mostly Meghan.

This opens the thread up to easy accusations from Sussex supporters that we are all horrible, racist gossipmongers, when we normally have quite a civilised conversation with genuine references for our discussion.

If we must have the blinds, I would prefer them to be put as links, rather than cut and pasted to the thread.
I'm sorry if that comes across as thread policing.

At this point, I'm fairly convinced that they're pushing Charles for a reaction and want a home on royal property along with fully restored security for the children and themselves.

I only hope he doesn't give in, because the reaction is going to be a pretty strong one from the public. These two are toxic, unstoppable and just going to cause more and more chaos for the RF.

Choux · 16/09/2026 13:33

An old video from March 2019 showing the problems keeping HAM in check when they were working Royals. The event is the 50th anniversary of Charles investiture as PoW and there are press and microphones in the room. The exhibition was supposed to be viewed only by HMTQ, Charles as PoW and W and C as next PoW. The Sussexes and other royals were supposed to be waiting in the room to the right where a reception was being held. But HAM tried to muscle into the exhibition viewing group and had to be ushered away by equerries. At one point M seems to want to chat and walk in with Charles who is accompanying his mother breaching the seniority protocol. Harry seems to be nervously turning his wedding ring but he accompanies M to wait where they should not be.

They seem to be mostly ignored by the senior royals but if you turn the sound up you can actually hear William say to Camilla ‘he just wants the attention. But we should look at the pictures’ 😮

I think so but it will blow up for the RF. HAM will be happy for a while then get bored, kick off again

Could you imagine the scandal if they tried to enrol their kids and were refused ! I think they would blow the school out of the water if that happened.

Given the chaos they cause I could easily imagine schools refusing them, Thedom, but though they'd no doubt try I can't see them being able to damage a school because of it

More likely most wouldn't blame them in the least

This is an episode of a BBC podcast, When It Hits the Fan, about PR.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002yl2w

This episode discusses the tendency of both PH and Farage to play the victim. It's presented by an ex-editor of the Sun and a PR consultant, and they aren't really pulling any punches.

David Yelland and Farzana Baduel discuss why powerful people often play the victim card.

IF - and it’s a big IF - HAM are awarded taxpayer funded security could RAVEC advise ( instruct) them to keep a lower profile , stay off SM etc ?

RAVEC assesses the risk and determines the need for security.

The Metropolitan Police Royalty and Special Protection (RaSP) section are then the operative force which carries out the determined security provision.

I am sure that part of the provision would be advice on general security measures - I linked yesterday to the National Crime Agency advice, and assume that the Met would have something similar which could then be tailored.

Unfortunately none of that means that the Sussexes would listen. Whether they could be required to follow something at the risk of removal of security provision, if that provision had been deemed necessary, is another matter again. I suspect not, and can't see many people wanting to stand in court defending it.

I don’t remember if it was in this thread or another but someone asked about what the security team is doing while the children are in school, in the actual classroom.

This is just anecdotical but (I’m originally Spanish) my cousin met the now King Felipe while at university, reading Law. Back then a group of students was selected to join the then Crown Prince in an ad-hoc Law programme covering also Politics and Economics. So basically they were classmates for a few years.

Felipe had a security team who waited for him outside the classroom and the buildings but one of them would always sit at the back of the classroom. They worked shifts so it was a different guy every day.

Halfway during the first year one of these guys told his bosses he was actually interested in the subjects being taught and discussed so asked to do more shifts and the university agreed to him joining the class. In the end he “worked” all shifts ;-)

This security guy graduated with them a few years later.

Edited

I love this story.

@bluegreygreen 💐 I think by and large these threads ( this one in particular ) are pretty good natured , there will be "gossip" but largely about what H&M have put out into the public domain or related to that. And points of fact ( thank you for the Ravec posts) . And sometimes - just downright funny

How would moving to the UK help?

Compare and contrast, PleasantGreenPorcupine
If there was any suggestion of a prosecution coming up and he remained in America, the protections he might hope to enjoy within the UK wouldn't apply, and if any case was brought using the US system there might even be some inclined to give a spoiled British prince a hiding

Hence why I wouldn't expect Andrew to be going to the US anytime soon either; why risk it when - as with Burrell - the courts over here (the monarch's courts, don't forget) can be more easily manipulated?

Frankly, @Puzzledandpissedoff, I prefer the UK system of an independent judiciary to the US system of politically appointed Supreme Court justices.

I’m no royal or expert but I have to agree with you here !
an example, I wasn’t actually on the class WhatsApp for my son’s class because I had no idea it existed for years!!! , you can’t just add yourself…you need to know someone on there and be invited to join….you need to know someone’s number or give your number to someone to add ……so Meghan would have to have spoken to these “mums “ before to be on that chat!! …….im calling bullshit or a setup .

I’m on the class WhatsApp groups for some of my grandchildren because I have parental rights when my son is flying and it’s the school admin who add us at the start of every school year. Once into the school year it’s the class mum who adds people. No one else is permitted to.

I sometimes think these blinds are made up by people who don't understand what a Constitutional Monarch can or can't do, they talk as if KC is some sort of 18thC Absolute Monarch!

A lot of people don't understand how the monarchy works.

We've never really had an absolutist monarchy in England. The one who came closest was Charles I, and that didn't end well.

No indeed! Don't take on Parliament 🪓

Very much agree, and like you I do think it's highly suspicious that some of the claims weren't removed during the editing process.

This has always puzzled me too. I would have expected lawyers to have asked for the removal of confidential information that could lead to the publisher being sued by the Army.

Hang on - are you saying that the UK justice system is corrupt? That there is privilege for a prince and.... that a monarch could or would intervene?
Strong claims indeed.
See what happened to King John, and Charles I .
