Why did they go to Colombia?

"Royal" tour.

This is how I feel. IF they had to say something, much better to be appreciative of the clarity of the statement, express delight to be home, looking forward to new projects, and catching up with family and friends privately.

That would have been great, but I'd have settled for just keeping quiet.

There's a lot made about whether they should have security paid for. I think we should be talking about whether they should have some good advisors paid for. It's pretty clear the only instruction Harry gets is from his wife, and she still has no idea what the rules of the game are for the royal family.

Harpsichord23 · 09/09/2026 16:44

I think they are not very bright but do not listen when they are given good advice, as they think they know best.

I would argue that many of us hold Harry in far higher disgust than Meghan, they were his family, he grew up in the Monarchy, if he didn’t understand the rules how could she?
and finally as much as her behaviour is toxic, I certainly don’t subscribe to the sexist trope that the woman is to blame.

Harry is a dumb fool. Markle is marginally more clever and a poisonous woman, the fact that she has manipulated her husband and lied is a well established fact, it is not sexism to say so
I suggest that you as a man should not bother trying to teach a woman, who has lived long enough to have experienced and fought real sexism, to suck eggs

Lomonald · 09/09/2026 13:44

If they really did think that, they really are clutching at straws
.I think it just boils down to Prince Harry doesn't know how to live a life without his status and privilege they really need to find another way to live, i know he is the kings son but maybe should take a look at how Zara Tindell and Peter Phillips manage their lives.

Edited

@Lomonald Exactly, his cousins appear to have found a happy balance, why can't he? In future, his children could be similar to Princess Margaret's children, i.e. they mainly stay under the radar getting on with their very comfortable lives.

I’m not a man!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve been here years , every one in the royal boards know I’m a middle aged woman with children! , I also frequent fwr on occasion! So you can take that comment and suck it with your eggs!

I think he is contracted for a 3 book deal with Spare being book 1. I doubt he has much of interest sine Spare was published so perhaps moving to the UK is an attempt to get material for the next book…

Tom Bower cover the Soros foundation's funding of the Colombia trip in Betrayal

I think they are not very bright but do not listen when they are given good advice, as they think they know best.

That is SO much of their problem. No-one can tell them anything - not royal advisers, the late Queen, Prince Charles as he was, their own staff. They know best.

Will they ever learn?

Rhaidimiddim · 09/09/2026 18:11

BunnyBunbunbun · 09/09/2026 08:37

Again, any actual evidence that Soros has ever given these two any money? Guesses aren't evidence.

If younread TB's book, he provides the evidence he has uncovered regarding the funding of the Colombia trip.

And Soros, I believe, set Wace up in his first business venture.

Rhaidimiddim · 09/09/2026 18:15

Autumngirl5 · 09/09/2026 11:39

I think you will find their names are Harry and Meghan. I think it is disrespectful to call people by silly nicknames when you don’t know them, whoever they are. I would not like being called by a nickname by someone who doesn’t even know me. It feels as though you are putting them down.

A SCOLDING! Oh, my!

How about Harry writing A Whole Book where he used silly names for himself and his brother?

Rhaidimiddim · 09/09/2026 18:18

BunnyBunbunbun · 09/09/2026 12:41

Actual facts, not suppositions.

I just looked up Bower's book. He doesn't even get the name of the foundation Soros set up correctly. He calls it "Open Society", when its actual name is the "Open Society Foundation". If you read carefully, he doesn't say that Soros gave any money to Harry and Meghan but that the Open Society [Foundation] gave money to Colombia and opposition politicians had claimed that the Colombian government was using some of the money provided by "Soros" (as if Soros himself sits there doling money out) to fund Harry and Meghan's trip. Bowers has seen no evidence for any of this himself and his references appear to be from an article written by an opposition politician. But the Open Society [Foundation] doesn't give money to governments for the general budget, it gives money for specific projects, e.g. reconstruction after an earthquake. If the Colombian government did siphon off some money that the Open Society [Foundation] had given for other projects and used it for Harry and Meghan's trip, then that's on the Colombian government, not the Open Society [Foundation], Soros or Harry and Meghan.

https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/newsroom/open-society-launches-1-5-million-earthquake-rebuilding-fund-in-colombia

It's a big step from allegations against the Colombian government by opposition politicians to "Harry and Meghan are being funded by shady billioinaires with nefarious ulterior motives". But Bowers can (just about) get away with it because he has cited a reference (an opposition politician with her own ulterior motives against the government).

Bowers also claims that the Colombian politician who invited them even asked them to match Soros's (i.e. the OSF's) donation of $400 million! This whole story is more a case of Harry and Meghan being exploited by politicians in a country with politicial problems than anything deeply dubious. Of course King Charles is going to want to make it very well known that they do not represent the royal family in any way!

"Harry being exploited" was the starting point of this aspect of the duscussion. I'm glad we agree that he, is low-hanging fruit for anyone nefarious looking for a useful fool.

Nofeckingway · 09/09/2026 18:42

Firstly, Hazza and Megs is hilarious 🤣. And there is definitely a whiff of deja vue about this in similarity to Uncle David and his Duchess Wallis . He was a thorn in the side of BP , wanting to abdicate but then whining about a position worthy of him . It was good that they moved to California as life went on here with KC getting support with his cancer from the family . Even the wicked Queen . ( How do you ever get over him printing that ) And what happened to not wanting any titles for themselves or their kids . Don't even get started on calling their daughter Lilibet - the Queen was neither flattered or impressed . It is amusing for us plebs to watch and wait to see how fucked up these two will be . But I bet it's a nightmare for KC and the Wales .

I think they came back to work on getting back into the Royal sphere gradually by stealth in order to give their children a royal future. They would blur the lines by reconnecting with their various charities, then rekindling relationships with the outer royals and working inwards, then going to family events, and slowly building into roles that are royal by association. This from KC has thrown a big old spanner in the works.

Nailed it.

Soros is hardly Epstein! But he is a bogeyman name thrown around by people with a certain mindset.

Do you have any evidence of any connection between Harry/Meghan and Soros? In what way would he benefit from paying for them to go to Colombia and Ukraine? Does 96-year-old Soros even have any idea what Harry and Meghan are up to or even who they are?

Why would Harry and Meghan even need any external and unrelated person to fund them to go to Colombia and Ukraine when those trips were funded by the Colombian and Ukrainian governments? There may even be some Invictus funding, since those trips were broadly related to the Invictus Games, which could mean that the UK government is also indirectly funding part of them. You as a taxpayer paid for them! (For what it's worth, I think one target of the King's clarification letter about their non-royal status was Harry's activity with the Invictus Games, which are government sponsored and involve foreign governments and foreign ministries of defence as well as foreign militaries, which could lead to confusion around whether he is officially representing the British state - he isn't.)

Trying to implicate Soros is just daft conspiracy theory stuff, especially when there is no secret about the funding of these trips.

You are incorrect about the Colombian government funding the visit of H&M.

‘Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “financed their own trip” to Colombia during their recent “royal tour”, a government official from the South American nation has claimed.

The security bill for the Sussexes’ visit has been estimated to have cost Bogota about $2 million, including weapons of war like drones, a van equipped with a chemical biological nuclear response unit and a helicopter.

The final bill came in at just over $3.8million for their trip, and Colombian politicians balked at the price tag. Márquez told her government the cost to the country was only $59,360. She claimed the remaining cost was covered by "philanthropic sources" without going into detail.
^^
"That was a reference to Open Society, an international charity financed by George Soros, the billionaire fund manager,"

A time passes where I forget anything about them, and wonder what all the fuss is about. Then I see them do something so pointless like issue this ‘express of surprise’. It’s insufferable. And then I remember. And then the cycle repeats.

FuzzySlippers · 09/09/2026 20:36

Find it really odd that they wanted to draw any further public attention to the fact that the status quo remains the status quo. Assumed they would want to come back and kind of conveniently blur the line between being royal and being private people.
So it does make me think that maybe they are here gathering material because this is objectively such a non-story.
