Meghan has been offered a part in series 3 of The Gentleman, by Guy Ritchie?

None of it matters.
She's not "resuming her career". I'll be surprised if she gets this part in "Gentlemen" or whatever, but I'd be bloody amazed if she did anything else.
This is all "Don't watch that - watch this!" flummery to distract from the real reason they've returned - money and possibly visa problems.
It was so unsubtle announcing their return at the same time as Harry hears about his court costs.
They must think we're really distractable if they... Ooh! Shiny thing! ✨️

Oh, no.
Wasn't a crown or an emerald tiara after all. Sad face.

Of course people had heard of her.... Suits was a hugely popular and successful series.

She became globally much more famous for marrying Harry, of course she did. But she was known before that...

I had never heard of Suits or MM before she took up with Harry but then I don't watch that kind of American type TV. Yes Meghan did the route that many did - got a boob job , posed in sexy photos, was a suitcase girl, played the hot girl, used her looks etc to get on. That was her choice. She didn't HAVE to do it. The images are still out there of her doing these things and her social activities sitting on old men's knees. I guess she used what she had as she's hardly accomplished. Your past lives on.

Yes. It's all like the face of Dior.

It still remains true that she had an active career.

Other women are just just weirdly obsessed with putting down other women... Determined to ignore all the evidence in front of their eyes.

Whether you like the woman or not. Whether you think she's a good actress or not. Whether you think she has a future in acting or not.

She had a acting career before meeting Harry. And people are bringing up the fact that she's in lingerie at some sort of weird proof that she didn't have a career? And trying to belittle her roles. As if thousands of actors haven't had bitt parts. As if successful actors haven't had similar bit parts. As if no other actress has ever been shown in her bra and knickers before.

It's not 'American type', it is American TV Wink

I wonder if they'll be any strategically placed jars of jam featuring.
Gentleman Jam😁

HoraceCope · 23/08/2026 06:30

Apparently she is not joining The Gentleman

Now I didn't watch it.
I never even saw it advertised, so it couldn't have been that "massive"!

It was big to be fair. I watched all of it, and enjoyed it, long before Megan had even met Harry.

I never watched Stranger Things .... Can't be that popular

Never saw Game of Thrones advertised...so probably wasn't massive.

🤣🤣🤣

Those two shows were massive though.

Suits wasn't.

It was a successful basic cable show, and Meghan did well to get a role on it. But it's her only acting credit of any note, and in the decade since she gave up acting, she's shown no interest in resuming her career. Acting seemed like more of a means to an end than a real passion for her.

To claim it's just some little show and you've never heard of it, therefore it's not popular is just showing ignorance 🤷

She had plenty of roles., more than a whole lot of actors. So what if they weren't mega shows?

so what if she hasn't done anything for ten years? Is she now not allowed? Is there some sort of law about it?

So what if she hasn't got the passion and it's a means to an end...I'd bet 90% of people aren't passionate about their jobs and see it as a means to an end.

At the time it was released it was a smaller show. It gained a wider audience during lockdown. I think two statements can be true at the same times. It's entirely possible very few here saw Meghan in Suits, (was it on Peacock or Dave, I can't remember) and didn't know who she was at the time of the engagement. It's also the case that it got a far wider viewership later on Netflix.

Yes. agreed.

But this all stems from someone saying she never had an acting career (Which she did...) and somehow that other more deserving people should get roles above her.... That she isn't passionate about acting etc....

EmpressSisi · 23/08/2026 09:17

Let’s not rewrite history here.

Suits was a modestly successful programme when it first aired. Its first season performed reasonably well, averaging around 4.2 million viewers, but those figures dropped fairly quickly, falling to around 2 million after a few seasons and ending at just under 1 million by the time the show finished.

I know exactly one person (my sister) who watched it when it originally aired. At the time, it was seen as quite a niche show in the UK. I remember seeing adverts for it on Dave but I don’t specifically remember Meghan from them. Meghan wasn’t the main character, nor was she the female lead. She was the love interest. She was a competent actress, but her screen time was relatively limited.

Meghan herself was well aware that Suits was her last shot of becoming a successful actress. She was also very aware that when the series came to an end, her options were limited, which was why she began networking in the UK and exploring opportunities around footballers and reality TV shows (she was linked to Made in Chelsea at one point) and then met a certain Prince.

Then came the 2023 resurgence. Netflix acquired the entire series and heavily promoted it on its homepage, prompting a new wave of interest (including the inevitable, “Oh, isn’t that Meghan Markle’s show?” curiosity). Once people started watching, they found an easy watching, bingeable series with story arcs that carried viewers through the seasons, and then they recommended it to their frienre.

That was what turned it into an enormous streaming success. This was long after the series ended, long after she became the Duchess of Sussex and long after Megxit.

EmpressSisi · 23/08/2026 09:18

TLDR: The first season of Suits was modestly successful but lost viewers quickly after the first few seasons. It was the resurgence 12 years after it first aired that made it one of the most streamed shows ever. Meghan wasn’t the lead or even the female lead, but she was a competent actor in it. This was her breakout role but due to her age she would have most likely struggled for future roles and was the reason she began networking in the UK and met a certain prince.

So it’s not unlikely that people had never heard of Suits before they had heard of Meghan Markle.

Mespher · 23/08/2026 09:23

I tried to watch Suits before I had heard of MM but I only managed a few episodes so I doubt I saw her in it anyway, I didn't find it good enough to carry on with it. I don't think she has had major roles in anything else

I managed about a season and a half. It was a decent series, but the formula got repetitive pretty quickly.

Lawsuit happens. Mike has to deal with it. Louis causes problems. Harvey believes in Mike. Some last minute piece of evidence turns up, usually involving Mike and Rachel having a late night rendezvous. The opposing lawyer gets one over on the team, only for Mike’s photographic memory to kick in and remember some obscure legal loophole that saves the day.

Rinse and repeat.

I can see why it was easy watching but it just wasn’t for me.

(I thought the same thing about Mad Men as well if I’m being honest)

I don't know why this keeps getting said.

According to the link you posted, it had a total of about 57 billion minutes watched. However, in the link I posted about, several shows had 4 or getting on for 5 times that figure. It doesn't even figure in NF's Top Ten. It was successful, but it doesn't hold any records.

Let's be real. She had one role of any note. Which as you say, is way more than many actors and definitely an achievement in a highly competitive field. But if she hasn't married Harry, the vast majority of people wouldn't have a clue who she is and she'd likely be competing for bit roles on daytime TV now.

so what if she hasn't done anything for ten years? Is she now not allowed? Is there some sort of law about it?

Oh, she's 'allowed'! Of course she's 'allowed'. But given that she's a mediocre actress who chose to peddle fruit spread rather than work on her craft while living down the road from the centre of the film industry, it's unlikely she'll get too many offers.

Dontevenlookatme · 23/08/2026 09:56

Suits is doing some heavy lifting here. It ran from 2011 to 2019, MM’s last episode was filmed in 2017. She’s nine years older and those parts are not available to her. She’d need to demonstrate more range than previously and that would mean acting classes, properly committing to the process. Can anyone really see that?

Why?

If someone wants to give her a role, what difference does it make now much experience etc she had?

No-one said it was the most popular... just one of the most streamed shows. More than Big Bang Theory for example and that's a massive show.

You have no idea what would have happened from Suits, she probably would have stayed to the end as she was only written out because if Harry.... and perhaps gone onto other things... You can't possibly know what would happen. And even if she was getting bit roles.... so what? That's what the vast majority of actors do to keep the money coming in. Not everyone can be mega stars.

Maybe she thought she could make a go of her businesses? She's allowed to fail isn't she? Don't the majority of businesses fail?

So what if she doesn't get any more acting roles? Does that make her a failed actor?

Honestly people hate this woman so much they're blinded to any success she has had, making childish comments like well, she's not as successful as some people or she's not deserving, hasn't committed, she only makes jam and can't even do that properly... as if they are successful jam makers themselves....wah wah wah.

If the papers are anything to go by, seems that the potential of The Gentlemen has been removed, if it was ever there in the first place, due to the UK’s negative response. I personally think it’s very murky, why would guy Richie, Kate’s relative and friend of both, give their SIL a job when she’s been so awful to W&K? I think it’s all smoke and mirrors from the Sussex camp personally trying to stir up more drama and clicks / column inches - pathetic
