Meghan has been offered a part in series 3 of The Gentleman, by Guy Ritchie?

Although I personally thought The Gentleman was a bit shit - typical Guy Ritchie ‘posh guy’s gangster fantasy’ hackneyed shite.

Eastenders would be SO much better. Meg as landlady at the Vic would be worth a watch 😆

I've seen Meghan in a few things over the years, mostly as a guest star in series I follow. In the competitive world of acting landing a series regular role, even once, makes you a successful actor. Meghan was successful and I always found her a competent performer when I've seen her on screen, which frankly elevated her above a lot of actors.

However I don't think she had that special something, star quality, that causes an actor to stand out, like Bradley Cooper in the early seasons of Alias. This isn't criticism, none of the leads in Suits have gone onto greater success than they had when they went in. They were a good ensemble cast but none of them launched out of the series into individual stardom.

The problem for Meghan going forward is that she is now bigger than the role, any role. She isn't a 'first on the call sheet' level actor and her celebrity will overwhelm a lot of parts. Bridgerton is one place where it could work to her advantage and The Gentlemen, from what little I've seen of it, could also contain a role that doesn't shy away from her real life but subverts it for drama. Time will tell.

I watched Suits from the very start - gave up about S6 as it was getting very repetitive.

I thought Meghan was a competent actress in the role she had - was usually in each episode for at least couple of mins (sometimes longer). She wasn't a main lead, and not as memorable a character as Donna or Louis - but good enough for what the role required.
But absolutely, getting a regular role on a cable show was a success, many actors never get that.

But I agree, no one on Suits had "it". And also with your last point. I've never watched Bridgerton or The Gentlemen so can't speak to whether she could pull it off, but she's not an actress actress, she really needs something where the celebrity name and playing herself (which is pretty much what she did in Suits) will work.

Aye and all were low rent. She was a z list actress who was just getting to the age where she would no longer pick up parts. She was never going to be a "star" that was never an option because she was never a great actress.

Confused, I thought series 2 of the Gentlemen was coming out this September?

Is this the same Guy Ritchie besties with Vinnie Jones and David Beckham! The Cotswolds geezer club. Vinnie is outspoken monarchist and Beckham doesn't like hams. D list actresses are 10 a penny. Of course, there’s acting … and acting.
TLQ gave her the patronage of the National Theatre back in 2019 but that all seemed to fizzle out.
I’ve never seen any evidence of Meghan showing any interest in theatre or high-calibre productions. I therefore would assume she won’t ever go down that path and I’m not sure that her CV of appearances on a range of US series would qualify her either.

I think the phrase someone earlier used is apt - she was a jobbing actress on a cable show. Not movies. Not a lead. Not theatre.

I cant imagine M in the Gentleman, but as Mr Ritchie owns the rights, being in talks with Netflix doesnt mean much. They are probably on the hook to Netflix anyway, after their flopped shows.

I doubt very much they haved uprooted themselves and the dc on the strength of being in talks. Who would do that, for a possible unconfirmed part in a niche 2 series ? And to a country they left gleefully, and insulted so openly.

And Britain isnt Hollywood. Surely she would have had more opportunities there than here. She must know loads of people in the US acting industry.

Whatever it is, she won't have been hired for her past career. Women find it hard to return to work after a break and get hired, acting must be harder.

Well, she’s no Meryl Streep or Dame Judi, is she? But then, few are.
However, her performances will be subject to intense scrutiny and there will undoubtedly be a lot of criticism, possibly unfairly so.

I agree. Which is not to say she shouldn't try. I just don't believe an acting role is a substantive part of their reasons for coming back to the UK. Two separate things I think.

I don't feel strongly either way about m&h , but I think this is what they should've done in the first place, step back from royal life of it isn't working for you, and get jobs. She was an actress before so makes sense for her to do that. Mike tindall does just fine without doing anything officially royal. The problem was the big exposés, Oprah, his books etc which were all in quite poor taste given the discussion of personal family matters.
