Absolutely, they could have made a go of it. No need to say all those horrible things for money. Just a bit of dignity and determination to move forward would have been fine.

Guy Ritchie is a shrewd business man as well as a Creative - I cannot
imagine that he would knowingly damage his brand, reputation, future
audiences for the sake of finding work for an out of work actress as MM

Suits was a mid level cable show, it was never a network show.

It got a boost when NF aired it during COVID. But let's not pretend it was anywhere near the level of Seinfeld, Friends, SATC, E.R., LA Law, The Walking Dead or GoT.

I doubt anyone would have heard of her if she hadnt managed to meet and marry a prince. As it was, she was not a hollywood starlet, she was a divorced 36 year old jobbing actress in a cable show that was successful. Thats the blunt truth.

I should imagine she was quite relieved not to have to look for parts anymore and have her underwear on show, although she does still do that- the see through skirt pic in the papers with her dc was painfully deliberate. No wonder she pleased to give it up - she could quite easily carried on. No one was stopping her.

Of course people had heard of her.... Suits was a hugely popular and successful series.

She became globally much more famous for marrying Harry, of course she did. But she was known before that...

No. Because I'm not basing my opinion on whether I like her or not.

She has demonstrably had an acting career ...and yes, shock horror some parts are small, in background or whatever... Bit that's true if loads and loads of actors.... Including Timothy Chamolet, Idris Elba, Jennifer Aniston etc

Yes it was. I was watching it here in the UK from S1, long before she got together with Harry.

It was comparatively a big role, one many, many actresses would have been very happy with.

She was good, she wasn't great, but she wasn't bad, and I thought she had good chemistry with her co-stars. It wasn't a showy or stand out role though, not one where you could really show off comedic or acting chops. It was the attractive love interest role and struggling to prove herself role. As of about 4 seasons in, she had a lot to do.

I'm not a fan of MM, but I find it a shame that people want to scoff at and diminish a woman's achievement and reduce it to her being in her bra and pants, when that was a small percentage of the role (and very common for the sexist times).

I think it’s pretty accurate to say that most people wouldn’t have heard of her before Harry. She would have been recognisable as the actress from Suits to anyone that had watched it (far from everyone) but I don’t think many people would have actually of heard of her i.e. known her by name. I don’t mean that as an insult or anything, she was a very successful TV actress and those claiming otherwise are being ridiculous and honestly good for her if she’s going back to it, but I have no idea what her male costars are called and even in shows I watch now I don’t know the name of every single actor and sometimes struggle to place them if I see them in something else!

Exactly, because they’re acting. And sex scenes were more common years ago with women put under pressure to reveal more of their bodies. That doesn’t show Meghan in a bad light, only the men and industry itself. Nothing wrong with a sex scene anyway. There were a few in Suits. Harvey had plenty of sex. Sex is part of life for most people. I think some people’s misogyny is showing.

Some of the clothes were great. When we were younger and poorer, my friends and I used to be jealous. 😂 And most of our boyfriends fancied Meghan! 😂

Because she went looking for them to prove a point. If you just google MM Suits they don’t show up, you have to specifically be searching for sex scenes or similar key words.

Just like the tabloids went looking for them in 2016 , referencing season 3 which aired in 2013/2014. How fucked up is that?

When they first re-ran it in the USA post Megan marrying Harry, it broke American streaming records and outperformed every other original Netflix series ever.

Also, Suits was not a Netflix original. It was a fairly successful basic cable TV show, but hardly a cultural phenonemon. Unless you were a fan of the show, and maybe even then, you wouldn't know or care about the actors, none of whom have gone on to great things. The Suits reboot also flopped and got cancelled.

Why shouldn’t she dip her toe back in, especially for a cushty little gig down t’road? I would.

Wasn't she living down the road from Hollywood for several years? A bit strange to have to travel all the way to England to maybe get a part in a Netflix series.
