When they come back should we just judge them by their future behaviour, not the past and try to be positive.

After the events of the last few days with Jason Arday it might help the RF if the media and social media allowed them to get on with things in a positive way. Frankly the only person who should be aggrieved is the Princess of Wales and maybe the King but he clearly want peace now what with his illness.

Let’s see if they can be positive and an asset to the UK and the RF.

The BBC have just shown the clip of Harry saying that he couldn't bring his wife and children to be UK because it's not safe. That was May 2025.

A clean slate requires an apology to the people they hurt. They need to at least retract their comments about the UK not being safe.

Considering what they’ve said during the last few years, I can’t imagine everyone who deserves an apology getting one.

When it comes to the media, they are good fodder to sell papers so there won’t be a clean slate.
As for the public, probably not - although most people seem to fall into the camp of finding them mildly irritating more than anything else and hoping them just go away quietly.

I often wondered if Camilla would be given a bit of redemption by the public - but she still seems hated after all these years, so it seems the public have a long memory for this stuff.

My first thought was they need to squeeze in as many photo ops with Charles as they can to really drive home their royal connections, so this is a bit of future proofing for their business careers in LA.

They know once Willy gets on the throne they won’t get a look in much less an invite to his coronation. So we all need to prepare ourselves for Harry and Meg clinging to Charles’ coat tails - wonder if they’re hoping for Christmas at Sandringham.

@Nihongoit is amazing how some people have held onto hatred for Camilla. I was really unhappy when C and C got married but as I matured, I understood that people make mistakes and unhappy marriages are very lonely places. C and C look very happy and easy in each other’s company. C just smiles, does her duty and quietly does amazing charity work.

If it’s because they started Archie at school in the US and decided they’d prefer a British education, also fine.

I understand your position for, say, a politician, a corporate fraudster or someone else who has broken the law - but this is not your fight and it's weird that you and all the other obsessives think it is.

So many genuine injustices in the world to get angry about - it's really depressing that so many people choose this drama to focus on.

And even if you were personally involved - you are the Duchess of Kent, let's say - it still wouldn't be your job to decide whether a man, however crappy, can be accepted back into the family because his father is dying.

We can only hope they intend to live quietly and keep out of the public eye.

Enrol their dcs in school, have a nanny do school run so no need to have “Megan does the school gate”, and both find something private to do.

If however, they are going to be cringefully embarrassing, the least they could do is stay in California.

Thinking about the op's question...I suppose it depends what happens next. Are they going to settle quietly into living their lives under the radar or are they going to be courting publicity, smirking at celebrity photoshoots and dishing out fatuous word salads to whatever crowd is sucked into inviting them? If they knuckle down and put some time and effort into those charities they supposedly support then yes, I could quite easily ignore what's happened in the past and let them crack on. No posed visits to children's hospitals, no red carpet shenanigans, no soap opera antics. A sort of don't-speak-until-spoken-to sort of life. Yup. Let's see.

Other royals do school runs and don't get papped (most notably William and Catherine). I think she'll be ok.

I don't for one second think that wider family will welcome this. Their behaviour around the late Prince Phillip and then the late Queen was inexcusable. They're crawling back on bended knees before William takes over and boots them firmly into outer space, nothing more. And I think King Charles is very naive thinking that the public will welcome both.

I really doubt it after how they have behaved.

There was an interview she did for "The Cut" magazine in which Meghan claimed she couldn't have her children educated in the UK because they'd be surrounded and hounded by paps.
I wonder what's changed her mind?
