The most interesting suggestion in that Times article was that it may be a tie in with another Netflix special. H&M take the UK, or similar. Which makes an awful lot of sense.

Yes that crossed my mind that they are pitching a Netflix "HAM return" series to make money

Baital · 20/08/2026 18:34

AtIusvue · 20/08/2026 16:45

I know. It’s beyond baffling.

I can just about believe Harry would have the brass neck to return. I cannot possibly imagine why Meg would agree.

It’s complete humiliation and I can’t see the type of personality that Meg has, would accept that.

I feel like there’s something we are missing??????

money is the main driver- but like you say, there’s so many other options to help mitigate their financial woes before they would have to return to the dreaded UK.

MH will also be a big one- Harry seems like hard work

But still nothing adds up to the solution being…..return to the Salty Isle

The perfect excuse to wind up her fruit spread and lifestyle presenting failure?

She has sacrificed her emerging business for her spouse and children, because nothing is more important than family.

And for both, the sale of the Montecito house isn't because their lifestyle exceeded their income, it's because their children are thriving in the (racist) UK.

Even if they can't go barefoot.

Lunde · 20/08/2026 18:35

IIRC Harry stayed in hotels near Ascot for a couple of his UK trips. Ascot is also not far from Windsor and also close to Harry's old prep school Ludgrove.

Could these have been scouting trips? Maybe that is why the MIGS acted so quickly to renovate Frogmore back into several residences!

Aprilfountain · 20/08/2026 18:37

What I don't understand is what exactly HAM plan to DO when they get back here? They're both relatively young, what are they going to do to fill their days, once they're settled in the new home and the kids' new school? It's been stated by BP that they won't do royal duties, so what else is there?

MyGreyLurker · 20/08/2026 18:40

Tom Sykes, the Royalist, on YouTube live at 8pm this evening should be interesting as he's got his sister, Plum Sykes, (a contributing Editor at Vogue) on. She lives in the Cotswolds and knows all the gossip there.

They didn’t do much in Montecito either so not much different! However as I said upthread they will be busy setting up their own faux royal court, their PR will be working overtime to get the new patronages, hospital visits etc. there will be tv appearances, brand deals a plenty, constant pap walks, polo matches, theatre trips etc. they will be far busier than Montecito, it’s going to be wall to wall Markles for the foreseeable future.

I wouldn't say Camilla is particularly loved, I'd say the public tolerate her more than anything.

I think she is respected, not tolerated. Someone who doesn't chase the headlines, but does a solid job of supporting her chosen causes and supporting KC3.

No big headlines or charisma, but puts the work in, and turns up. Valuable qualities these days.

BasiliskStare · 20/08/2026 18:50

I do feel sorry for W&C . I hope KC will be supportive of them and not try to force any reconciliation on W or awkward occasions when they feel obliged to meet.

The DM btw has 92% of people not pleased to see HAM returning to the UK. I think there will be many polls with many varying answers depending on pollster, demographics , degree of self selection , sample size etc . See eg below , big % , relatively small no. of voters. (this is the DM).

  • Yes 8% 1336 votes
  • No 92% 15171 votes

We'll see. I don't think their brand is strong here. If anything their brand is over promise and under deliver, and tone deaf moaning about how badly done by they are.

Plus, of course, how awful the Uak is

Agree.

The whole point of As ever….is that she was selling the California girl lifestyle. The previous iteration was American Rivera Orchard

With Love Meghan, she said was a love letter to California and you see lots of different locations to show off the produce.

If As ever isn’t in California…. Then it’s nowhere.

Youre right, this gives her the perfect excuse. It’s clearly going nowhere….otherwise she wouldn't be leaving Cali and we would have never ending press pieces about how successful it is - but we’ve heard pretty much nothing for nearly a year now. The business style podcasts/interviews last year was the last we heard of her ambition for As ever and she’s been phoning it in for a long time now.

It will be quietly forgotten, as she’s concentrating on settling the kids blah blah. Just like she dropped the podcasts because she was too busy blah blah. It’s all the same story.

The only job he has is Ingriftus. That was heading for disaster. It's in a much better place if Pa can be by H's side

Justdancevance · 20/08/2026 18:53

they won’t have a huge amount of money to set up any faux court. They have no royal relationships to milk.

Who would be stupid enough to fund them having seen how much they’ve wasted on jam& sprinkles, court cases and ego boosting security.

Their shows are shit, Meghan seems incapable of talking about anything else apart from herself. Harry is a balding angry forty something man.

ajandjjmum · 20/08/2026 18:54

I just wonder if KC knew they were in deep shit and needed a massive handout, so when he met Harry on his own, he handed him an agreement. He would pay for schooling (in the UK), they would get legal fees paid from his personal pot, and an agreed allowance/costs covered if they were back in the UK, and lived by his rules.

The call on Sunday was Harry saying yes we accept (have no money so have no option), and we'll be over before the end of the month.

All guesswork of course!

I think you are correct in this. It’s the only explanation that makes sense.

AutumnCrowsWhatsAppGroup · 20/08/2026 18:58

I want Meg to get a gig on Dragons’ Den and have to sit between Sara Davies and Deborah Meaden spouting on about being a Female Founder. Might as well get a laugh out of their incredulous faces, while the monarchy swirls and disappears down the pan.

I'm not sure. I don't think Charles would want them in Britain. It could create headaches with William, especially if they try any 'faux royalling' and start whining about 'security'. I think it's easier for him to have them in California.

Yes, I could see 'As Ever' being quietly wound up in the next few months.

As for the Montecito house, I think Meghan would really hate to part with it. It symbolises her 'arrival' among the California elite she so desperately wanted to be a part of it, and selling it would symbolise her failure. But financially, they may have little choice.

So he’s effectively running home so daddy can look after him.
What an unedifying thought.

Starryfifty · 20/08/2026 19:06

KC definitely funding them but what I don't get is, surely it's better for KC and RF if HAM and Hamlets are in US? HAM are quite obviously damaging to the RF. They despise the future monarch, his wife and family

But it's also a symbol of her failure to become part of the California elite.

She reinvents herself as rejecting the California elite (instead of admitting they rejected her) and becomes the Home Counties mother.

Also the BBC saying this isn’t permanent?
why uproot your kids like this to put them in a UK school (that Meg previously had said she would never do, because they’d be followed by the paps) to move them again?

BBC:

‘Is this a forever move?
Not at the moment but they are expecting to be in the UK for what has been described to me as "an extended period of time".’

Perhaps just enough time for some car chases through the streets of London or some middle aged fan/stalker who could be stopped with a restraining order from following them around Aldi. I don’t think they intended to leave without taxpayer funded security for them all.

Yet KC expects us to believe that this decision has come completely out of the blue on Sunday? That he and the MIGS had absolutely no idea that they’d be rocking up, accommodation, schooling etc all sorted in just like that?
I can’t imagine what W and C feel, it must be a real kick in the teeth, it clearly feels like the Prodigal Son returns and that H is the favourite son to me.
After every thing this awful pair have done and said it’s’Welcome home’
What a farce the last 6 years have been,
I presume this was the plan all along.

Yet KC expects us to believe that this decision has come completely out of the blue on Sunday? That he and the MIGS had absolutely no idea that they’d be rocking up, accommodation, schooling etc all sorted in just like that?

They do have form for making decisions with their family having little or no notice - such as their original announcement that they intended to leave.

Queen not told of Harry and Meghan's move

LifeAt60 · 20/08/2026 19:10

Maybe KC is doing the classic ‘keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer’. If HAM really are running out of money then this might be the only way he can attempt to keep them under control. ‘Behave yourselves and I’ll help you, step out of line and you’re on your own.’
