GBNews are reporting that Harry and Megan are moving back to the UK at the end of August.

I won't believe it until I hear it on the BBC.

No idea, I don't really follow the royals, not very interested apart from being totally perplexed by the obsessive ire and hatred that H and M seem to generate. I skim read threads like this in an attempt to understand why people are so invested. There will now be endless podcasts, videos, panel discussions about their return, the Mail, Express and GB news will be in meltdown

Not really. I am seeing a large percentage of people obsessed with a royal family and I am wondering why anybody is that invested, and defends them when wrongdoing is exposed.

Paying off £11K to bin off a grooming claim but still adoring them is strange behaviour.

I really don’t see that. Ok I’m on the RF board rn, as are you, but generally I don’t hear about them irl or consume media on them. You might be your own enemy on all this.

Try to foster other engagement.

Most Irish people I know love London. We love visiting. I was delighted to be back with my daughter and due to it being a short visit stayed in Covent Garden rather than with family. She said she’d love to go to university in the U.K.as an option.

What I just expanded on. Eye opening that a large majority adore a collective group of normal humans who use taxpayers' money to bin off grooming scandals and defend racism.

Where do you live that you're around so many people obsessed with the royal family? I'm in the UK and IRL they're barely mentioned. If I started talking about them to friends or colleagues they would think I'd lost the plot.

No one has to, like no one has to worship a God. It’s a choice that other people make. Do you have an issue with choice ?

@AoifeRua id engaged with you in genuine faith, my dual citizenship EU country is now part of the commonwealth and had been part of the British empire and had freedom fighters/terrorists to liberate them. What’s the point of harking back to the past? Learn from history and move on.

I care little, bar the fact that human nature evidently has lost the plot by geneflecting to a family who were unelected.

I think the only things King has to do appointing the Prime Minister, give Royal Assent to parliamnetary bills, do the State Opening of Parliament and State Paper Reviews.

Then there some Ceremonial and National Roles they tend to do - Head of State Representation, Bestowing Honours, Church and Military Ties - head of church of england and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces - and being symbol on passports and stamps.

The charity stuff of ribbon cutting and garden parties is a very recent thing and is all PR driven - and is not required at all.

The wider RF isn't needed - it's just the direct line and having someone in that constitutional space we have.

I replied to somebody about the history they brought up about the RF.

I pointed out the true and accurate history of that history and that it isn't taught in UK schools.

But no-one is genuflecting. It really seems like you're fighting battles that exist only in your own head. I have no idea why you seem so upset, apart from the fact that you clearly hate the UK and living here, but that's your issue to deal with.

Oh and apart from my cousin’s husband who is a priest and all the bishops and archbishops, I come across (plenty) as it happens, including the patriarch, I’ve never genuflected to anyone, certainly not royalty. And only the church lot, because my aunties, would even from their graves, would haunt me to high heaven or rather hell and I’d rather not risk it.

They get read about in newspapers and are just general background noise in all parts of the UK I've lived.

I've seen USA you tubers surpised by this and how we don't tend to notice the post boxes with their sybols on or stamps or money they just there rarely interesting till there's some event when when crowds come out.

Being Irish, you were far more at risk from your local priest than Prince Andrew.

I think it sounds a bit self-inflicted but not to be too tough it can be hard if it’s loneliness in a new country causing issues.
