Eugenie gave birth to a daughter on Monday. She was born in Lisbon, Portugal.

The baby’s name has not been revealed yet.

If anyone cares.

I am now wondering if the angel wings on the suit and Edo's comment including an angel emoji are clues to the name?! If so my guess is Evangeline.

I hope not!

Sounds like a name you'd associate with the lady running the church fair somewhere in the American Deep South!

Twonewcats · 04/08/2026 22:58

It's her literal title

No-one is obliged to use it.

Shloopie · 05/08/2026 20:55

Seraphina also has an angel meaning.

Desperatelyseekinglazysusan · 05/08/2026 20:58

Angelina/Angelica?

I assume they are owned by the royal family. I actually don't know.
They might be not paying rent but presumably they have to pay the bills etc.
"Our" taxes aren't going to be paying for the gas, electric and council tax bills.

I expect this has already been answered but they are owned by the Crown Estate.

The royals derive an ever-spiralling income from the profits while doing their best to avoid boosting them from their own pockets.

EmpressSisi · 05/08/2026 21:13

Queen mum’s middle name was Angela??

Bit dated but so is Ernest 🤷🏼‍♀️

Will King Charles still have to give his approval of the name like they had to do with QE11 ?
Or is Eugenie so far down the line now it doesn't matter ?

And I assume your use of the term ‘PR’ is a joke re Victoria

But if it was anyone it was that impoverished unknown ‘Albert’ who used the family image to protect the grift . Who would know better than he how much of a grift it was?

Another impoverished marry in who died wealthy - just like Philip

Albert.

Ur- royal grifter.

HoraceCope · 05/08/2026 21:38

a lot of Angela's will be tickled pink

Do tax payers fund the Crown Estates?

Funchythesnowwoman · 05/08/2026 22:27

@Needmorelego
Profits from the Crown Estate go to the Treasury and are used in public spending. The less profits made, the less government spending.

What profits come from a residential property though?
(I am genuinely clueless about this)

errr rent? It would be thousands a week for an apartment at St James's place!

So tax payers aren't paying for the properties - just not making any money off them.

Cute. Eugenie shares her birthday and date with my cousin so I always look out for news about her. Why was she in Portugal? Does she live there now? (Clearly I don't look out for very much news about her if I don't even know what country she lives in)

They live half the year in Portugal, because her DH has a job flogging posh villas in a development on the coast south of Lisbon. Harry and Meghan have bought one.

Funchythesnowwoman · Yesterday 12:22

@Needmorelego
The rent from properties over and above maintenance costs is the profit.
The profit goes to the Treasury which pays for public services. Otherwise tax payers fund those public services. So yes tax payers are paying for their properties.

Ok but "not paying rent" doesn't mean they don't pay for any maintenance and the bills themselves.
Also they are tax payers themselves.
I actually have no clue.
To be honest.... I don't really care.
I just think it's a cute baby 👶

Another hanger-on for our taxes to support. If we must have a monarchy, only the heir and their direct descendants should receive funding by the taxpayer. Extended family should get nothing. No money. No houses. No trust funds. No titles. No privileges. If that means they end up working in Greggs, so be it.

Er, our taxes don't support Eugenie. The only royals who receive anything from our taxes are the few that do work that represents the state and only for that work. It's not as though, for example, the King gets a salary from our taxes.

We have had eleven Queen Elizabeths already?

Alberta!
I’m glad they announced it on Meghana birthday considering the baby announcement at Eugenies wedding

I think she’s too far out of the inner circle to get name approval.
But you’ve reminded me that back in the day in was heavily talked about that Andrew and Sarah wanted to use the name Victoria but the Queen wouldn’t approve, and it was nearly 2 weeks before they agreed on the name Beatrice. Apparently their first choice was Annabel, second choice Victoria, third choice Beatrice!

bizzey · Yesterday 19:09

@ContractorQuestion thanks .yes I do remember how long it took for their name as the Anabel story .
That is what got me thinking.

Yolanda, after the cleaner.

AustenitesUnite · Yesterday 19:16

I think the 2nd & 3rd names will be Celia & Elizabeth ~ Celia is from Jack's side of the family

I wonder if Eugenie will do what Beatrice has done and name her daughter after a city ~ if so, Florence is the one I would put my money on
