Why is Dan Wootton so obsessed and full of hatred for Harry & Meghan?

i recently listened to Spare on audible - purely because it was free and I was interested to see what he had to say. ( most of it was boring self indulgent crap imo)
predictably the algorithms have filled my YouTube with H &M stuff!

it seems there is a daily barrage of videos from DW about them, such vitriol from this man. It’s unhinged!
I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m no fan of theirs at all but Jesus he acts like they murdered his granny.
He’ll post a picture of one of them literally smiling and turn it into a massive conspiracy theory about smirking at the Queen on her deathbed or some utter nonsense

Yes, Dolan’s taking the piss, showing how easy it is to wind up the Sussexes, and in turn merch off them and their hypocrisy.

He’s acting a role, I would say.

This is definitely a time for the Sussexes to step back and not play chess with pigeons, not with the Sentebale case looming.

They really should! , however they seem incapable of not handing their critics mountains of material! , they are obviously unaware of how unintentionally hilarious and easy to mock they are.🤷‍♀️

Mark Dolan must be clicking his heels together in delight knowing that not only do the HAMs tune into him, but that his opinion has a direct effect on them so much so that they have to release an “official “ statement, they have basically advertised Mark Dolan and his channel for free and at the same time generated him more money through clicks, they really are a pair of thick chumps.

You would have thought South Park all those years ago would have given them pause, but no, they never ever learn.

Well, now a bunch of YouTubers like Dan Wootton have new(ish) material to broadcast out of this ‘clapback’ saga and will probably talk about Mark Dolan, interview Mark Dolan, and interview each other about Mark Dolan.

And on it goes, the amplification of others by HaM. And still there’s no money in it for the Sussex machine. Just a dreary tawdriness.

Any podcaster knows the Sussex’s can’t resist clapping back, they are very silly.

This is why they are so fascinating to me.

At various points along the last six years there have been so many ways they could have turned this around and improved how they are perceived - which in turn would help their bottom line in terms of opportunities.

I’ve been watching a lot of promotional videos over the summer with Matt Damon and Ryan Gosling promoting their respective movies. They both come across so well because they are both very good at not making it about themselves.

They praise and give credit as much as possible to everyone else. It might just be good acting but they come across as grounded and egoless.

I’ve never seen or read an interview with Meghan where she doesn’t make it all about referencing her own experience and feelings above everything else - and at times in quite a shockingly obtuse way.

I relate to this. I don’t actually enjoy their missteps and am disappointed and sad to see them doing the same stupid things repeatedly.

Because they are so self absorbed, self serving and self righteous….totally jarring - zero social skills.

Think of that Africa interview where she said ‘no one asks me if I am okay’ - she had the perfect opportunity to say something like:

I’ve found it really hard - there’s a lot of pressures on new Mums that isn’t acknowledged.

However this tour has really put things in perspective - yesterday I met a very inspiring, strong young mother who has to cope with everything that motherhood throws at her alongside dealing with an HIV diagnosis and the grief of losing her first child.

I hope highlighting the wonderful work the charity mothers2mothers is doing will lead to more support for vulnerable women here, and also to encourage more help
and support for any women struggling postpartum.

I wonder how different things might have been if she said that instead…

Was that the start of the trumpeting of the ‘me’ in Meghan? I can’t recall any more. I do remember fuss it created.

Nearly every big misstep could have been tweaked slightly to their advantage.

There’s been loads of times they could have turned stuff around - I think now it’s going to take a huge lifestyle change and at least 2-3 years of very quiet, modest living to do it.

The alternative of course is to lean into the storm and go full celeb style crazy like the Kardashians.

I agree. I kept thinking that if they had stepped away from the spotlight, lived quietly for a few years, and focused on genuine, hands on charity work, they might have been able to rebuild some goodwill. But I think that opportunity has passed now.

The whole Sophie Chandauka situation, along with losing so decisively to ANL, seems to have further damaged the remaining goodwill (particularly around him). At the same time, she’ll soon be in her 50s at the exact same time the Wales children will be reaching adulthood and naturally attracting more attention and interest.

I think this is why they are now focusing on branding their kids.

I think a year or two ago there would have been more of a chance of a retreat, some quiet time, followed by a return to good works and an acceptance.

I can’t help but feel they are somewhat of a poisoned chalice now and it is going to take a long, long time for people to forget the gaffes and the mis-steps.

It is a bit of a skill to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory every time. I don’t know how they do it but they manage it. There is always something that feels a bit grubby.

It seems to me that they were (are?) of the opinion that they always knew best and their reluctance to take advice and march to their own beat has not served them well.

Him more so. She at least has tried. If she had been authentic she would have been successful I think. Maybe not global but successful locally. It just didn’t feel real.

I agree in that they seem to be slowly building up the kids - Lil more so. I wonder if they will rebel and seek freedom too.

I’ll give her this: she has worked incredibly hard and has clearly put in the effort. However, I don’t think she has natural star power, and many people struggle to warm to her because they perceive her as inauthentic.

He can come across as lazy and entitled, but he does have a certain charisma.

Unfortunately, I think she struggles to stand on her own without him, which may be why he often features in the background of her projects.

He seems to believe that people should automatically want to be associated with him because of who he is, and that sense of entitlement shapes the way he approaches things. But it makes him do stupid things that make people dislike him.

She tries extremely hard, but she hasn’t been able to break through that barrier because she is too serious and tries too hard and is so controlled that it comes across as inauthentic.

With him, it feels like many people wanted to like him, but his own choices and actions have worked against him and caused some to turn against him. This was especially noticeable once he stepped outside the protection and image management of the institution and the “men in grey suits” who had previously helped shape his public reputation.

I feel we need a gif to lighten the experience!!
