Dan Wootton obsessed with H &M

BeverleyMakka · 22/07/2026 15:16

Why is Dan Wootton so obsessed and full of hatred for Harry & Meghan?

i recently listened to Spare on audible - purely because it was free and I was interested to see what he had to say. ( most of it was boring self indulgent crap imo)
predictably the algorithms have filled my YouTube with H &M stuff!

it seems there is a daily barrage of videos from DW about them, such vitriol from this man. It’s unhinged!
I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m no fan of theirs at all but Jesus he acts like they murdered his granny.
He’ll post a picture of one of them literally smiling and turn it into a massive conspiracy theory about smirking at the Queen on her deathbed or some utter nonsense

rant over!!!

@LifeIsTooShort247 I don’t mind this line of discussion but just want to warn you that @LipglossAndLies may take umbrage as it may come across to them as derail to shift of focus to other posters feelings instead of Dan Wooten and his alleged obsession with Harry and Meghan.

Edited

This is such a strange dynamic ! Someone else’s opinion is being pre-announced before they’ve even had the chance to give it. 😂 Are we 5 years old, or can people just speak for themselves?

Turning a discussion into speculation about another poster and dragging them into it feels less like conversation and more like drama for the sake of it. If you want to respond to my comments, respond to my comments. Don’t bring unnecessary side drama my way.

I don't see this as a social club. I’m here to comment and discuss things, not participate in playground politics.

AnAutumnCrow · 30/07/2026 14:21

Anyway, I don't know if this is significant or not but I just looked at the viewing figures for when Dan Wootton does guest spots to talk about HaM on some of the 'big name' YouTubers' shows in the US.

Megyn Kelly put up 'Meghan Markle's Disastrous MasterChef Appearance' with Dan Wootton last night and it already has nearly 180,000 views. That's a heck of a lot for a YouTube video of two people talking about HaM for 12 miniutes, and Kelly must know Wootton's a good draw. And the number's only going to keep going up.

'Megyn Kelly is joined by Dan Wootton, host of "Dan Wootton Outspoken," to discuss Meghan Markle's awkward appearance on MasterChef Australia, Meghan and Harry exploiting Princess Diana's legacy to rehabilitate their public image, and more.'

She'll also flog you some gold if you like at the end.

I don't know if I'll watch it. Such Niveaultrauer!

“Turning a discussion into speculation about another poster”

I do agree with this and would like to get back to the topic rather than the armchair psychology and speculation about how others should feel.

adragoncalledaudrey · 30/07/2026 15:26

If we are here to discuss and comment on DW, let us do so.

Some of us have responded to your comment re schadenfreude and why we may disagree with your opinion and hold the opinion we do.

I’ve never been sure about karma but if we were living in ancient times, some would be whispering behind columns and wondering why they’d angered the gods and why their house appears to be tumbling down.

For example, I see that DW has commented on the Masterchef appearance. I may look. I’m intrigued at the childhood meal recollections as I stated earlier.

That is what piques my interest. The misremberings, the embellishments, the elevating.

And I suppose also what DW and his guests have to say about that. More so seeing that DW and indeed PM have been on the other end of their displeasure and embellishments.

I’m interested in discussing why people choose to change important details they’ve already thrown out there. There is form for it and I think it is a pity that they can’t just be themselves and recount what actually happened instead of what they wish had been the case.

I’m certain DW will be wanting to chat about the court case. As will PM.

I think I can forgive them that. And any pleasure or financial recompense they get in doing so.

Bobbbb · 30/07/2026 16:14

Mythomania and pseudologia fantastica are the terms used to describe these behaviours - the mis-rememberings, embellishments etc.

Waryandwearyfactorten · 30/07/2026 16:17

Bobbbb · 30/07/2026 10:27

I think there is an important nuance here. It’s about seeing karma come for the couple who have been actively, intentionally and persistently cruel, malicious and duplicitous to so many staff, family, friends and colleagues. It’s satisfying to see them get their comeuppance - especially when it’s by their own crack-handed words and actions - that moves it on to pure entertainment comedy gold.

I’m all for nuance but I take a different view entirely.

I think “intentionally and persistently cruel, malicious and duplicitous” is over-egging the pudding somewhat!

I don’t agree with everything they have done by any means, or how they have done it, but I don’t think H&M’s supposed crimes amount to anything near the hyperbolic description above.

I understand that initially it was disappointing for some loyal Royal supporters to see them go and over time that morphed in to resentment that “the UK obviously wasn’t good enough for M “ as some critics saw it.

I have lived abroad in quite a few different countries and I understand how difficult it is, especially when young dc come on the scene, and you are away from your mum and everything that is familiar. It also must have been difficult for an independent older bride with a job, to leave all autonomy behind. All while pregnancy hormones were raging. So I have some sympathy for M too; especially as she has said very little recently and is still being hammered by criticism.

I think the narrative against H&M has played in to the hands of BP who welcomed a distraction from AMW And it’s been repeatedly stoked and inflated by multi global media outlets for €€€€ and ££££££. It suits many people to keep this rhetoric churning.

(And why doesn’t AMW regularly attract this same level of negativity I wonder? Yes he has attracted a lot of criticism but not to the same level and yet his “crimes” are allegedly much worse. This simply doesn’t make sense by any objective measure. )

I also don’t see how people cannot grasp the racial undertones present in not all, but definitely some, of the negativity. It definitely ruffled some feathers that a mixed race woman , who was older, divorced and an American actress, was not suitably “humble” or “grateful” in some people’s eyes when joining a traditionally white ancient institution.

All these reports of her being a bully; they haven’t been proven and M seemed to work well on a collaborative show like Suits for many years. What if she is just difficult and exacting and people don’t like it? Even if she is terrifying; does that justify the hideous things repeatedly said about her in the press and on-line and her “mock” pregnancy and her parenting skills?

How would any of us like waking up to that barrage of nastiness every day?

There is also a definite double standard at play because being demanding is often seen as a good quality in a man.

On a simple human level , I also have some sympathy for Harry who impetuously and naively laid out all of his “sins” in a book, many of them committed when he was young, so that the press would leave him alone, only to find that they just repeat and amplify them year after year. Ker-ching!

And Harry badly over-estimated the love that his family had for him, as he assumed they would make a greater effort to keep him in the fold than they did. Very sad.

We also know from Patrick Jephson (and this has been confirmed by many press articles since) that the Palace previously paid for “strategic” PR help to rehabilitate Camilla which went a little too far and unfortunately led to other members of the RF, such as Diana, becoming collateral damage. There was a whole heap of gas-lighting and misogyny involved in that too when she was described as “mad” and basically described as a harlot while Charles who regularly bedded a variety of married women emerged as the respectable, sound, partner. So I am inclined to agree with Harry about being bull-dozed by certain spun stories.

And shoot me but I also don’t find it completely beyond the realms of credibility that William felt a bit threatened by the popularity of his younger brother and new wife when H&M were first married and how many younger, black and mixed race supporters they attracted.

It’s such a shame - again on a simply human level - that both brothers couldn’t work together and in many family feuds like this both sides are often at fault.

Also, outside of the protection of the Palace PR , with its substantial budget and considerable far-reaching influence, you have little chance of opposition. We know from Lownie that BP have endless resources, often use NDAs and other legal means to suppress stories or confer honours to maintain silence. They also employ former journalists and ministers who know things using a poacher turned gamekeeper approach to keep all the not so good stories about them quiet. We know this from the debacle surrounding AMW which has been covered up for years.

I am not saying that M&H haven’t made some dumb moves, but equally, returning to nuance, I don’t buy the rhetoric that everything KC & CC and W & C do is marvellous and saintly, whereas somehow H&M are bordering on evil! It’s ridiculous and I hope the debate returns to some level of objectivity soon, but I doubt it will because too much money is involved.

Imho, if I were Charles’s PR operative, I would advise him to sell off a spare privately- owned Caravaggio, or castle, quietly pay off H’s court fees, fund his lifestyle out of their vast private income, pretend to have a close relationship, and pierce the bubble that constantly over-inflates the “feud” story in the first place!

And the only reason they don’t do this I reckon is that flak for H&M is diverting people’s attention away from a great deal of focus on AMW and that is very useful to BP currently.

BemusedAmerican · 30/07/2026 16:44

Harry is over forty. He inherited enough money to keep a sensible person comfortable for a lifetime. He also likes to sue.

If my adult child started a lawsuit that he not only lost but possibly shouldn't have started, I would not give him the millions to settle it because he will not learn from the experience.

I'm not going to rehash the Sussex Squad actions of the last three years but I think William is acting sensibly to protect his wife and children.

adragoncalledaudrey · 30/07/2026 16:47

Racism? I would argue that I have encountered more dismissiveness about racist comments because of their allegations to the wind and then H excusing it as unconscious bias. If M did experience racism, then H dismissed it. And if a person I loved dismissed it for optics, then I’d be raging.

Nastiness? I wonder how Camilla felt about the criticisms and nastiness about her. Catherine too.

It was relentless.

They didn’t try and succeed in getting people fired.

They didn’t lie about the little bits of life and then change her story afterwards to suit the occasion.

I adore my siblings but if they went telling the world personal things and stood back and didn’t call off so called supporters questioning a loved one’s cancer? They’d be quietly left to their nastiness and bitterness.

It is a shame but a shame of H’s making. They may both be at fault but H made it so that a return to a close relationship is terrifically difficult to contemplate. Or even want.

No one has said here that everyone else in the RF is perfect - and I am nigh on sure most everyone would agree that AMW is a sleazy disgrace.

But it isn’t about them on this thread is it? It is about DW and his ‘hatred for H&M’ and the behaviour that has brought about that ‘hatred’. Not whataboutery.

Evil is as evil does. Interfering with folks’ livelihoods because they are calling out x,y or z behaviour and not following the shiny/victim/neu royale narrative is not the work of good people.

I’d argue that has an element of evil. And in accordance with this thread, I understand why DW is hell bent on saying his piece. PM too.

I reckon a lot of people would be the same if they found themselves in the same position.

adragoncalledaudrey · 30/07/2026 17:01

AMW is relevant though I suppose.

Their cock and bull story about him being mistaken for the late Queen’s assistant? Just another example of their dance with truth.

A beauty. To go along with farm to table and sprouts.

Horse shit radish.

please explain how this behaviour is somehow blameable on people’s falsely accused racism!!

IndefatigableSusan · 30/07/2026 17:25

“And Harry badly over-estimated the love that his family had for him, as he assumed they would make a greater effort to keep him in the fold than they did. Very sad.”

“Love” is not the right choice of word. He overestimated his influence and power over his grandmother, his father and the institution. And if it’s true that his own comms team was responsible for briefing Wooten and the like, he went about trying to manipulate them via public opinion before the negotiations even began.

He is still using the same tactics and getting the same result, too. Leaking details about this trip, claiming it was someone else leaking, result: looking rather foolish.

IndefatigableSusan · 30/07/2026 17:32

“Imho, if I were Charles’s PR operative, I would advise him to sell off a spare privately- owned Caravaggio, or castle, quietly pay off H’s court fees, fund his lifestyle out of their vast private income, pretend to have a close relationship, and pierce the bubble that constantly over-inflates the “feud” story in the first place!

The reason he doesn’t do this is more likely that you don’t solve a problem by doing the same thing that created the problem in the first place. Harry was obviously indulged for a long time resulting in gross entitlement. Giving him money to shut up won’t shut him up, because he thinks he is a victim and has a wife that has clearly assisted in the fomentation of his identification as such.

Giving into him to make things look better would just result in more entitlement and more self-centered behavior. It’s a shocking suggestion given the current situation with the obviously over-indulged spare uncle, too!

adragoncalledaudrey · 30/07/2026 17:42

I often wonder how much shit people have to put up within their life before public opinion feels they no longer have to appease or pander to the wrongdoer.

‘Just take a couple more punches love. And don’t be taking all the money in the tea caddy because you should leave that for him if you are the one leaving. And you should be selling yourself down the harbour so that he has comfort going forward and doesn’t have to work.’

I’m not embarrassed, ashamed or any other adjective! , in my opinion knowingly false accusations should be illegal and face prosecution.

Yes I think the perpetrators of this should be prosecuted and face prison, I wonder if because the perpetrators are in the US DW can’t go for a criminal prosecution?

BigWillyLittleTodger · 30/07/2026 18:03

Karma or however we refer to it is slowly slowly getting them, their heinous behaviour has been covered up for a long time, and I very much include the Palace in that, but now the veil is lifting, losing the ANL case, the costs involved, Dr. Sophie Chandauka taking Harry to court just to name a couple of things, I applaud DW, PM, MK, MC and all the many many others calling out and highlighting their dreadful behaviour, you only have to look at the comments in the MSM to see what people truly think of the ghastly pair, they may cling on for a few years yet but when William is King, Catherine Queen and Prince George the young adult heir they are finished, not because William will strip them of their titles (though I think he will) but because they will be a pair of late middle aged talentless nothing to offer has beens who will be so far down the pecking order to be of interest when the shiny and new will be taking centre stage, it’s going to be the most bitter pill either of them will have to swallow.

I understand why DW and PM have and keep hitting back.

They aren’t interfering with anyone’s job or trying to get anyone sacked or dismissed or cancelled. H&M have no occupation or duty that I can see. So no, I don’t agree.

And even if one could class the appearances they do as a job? Their actions and hypocrisy do more damage to their brand than anyone could ever do.

All the likes of DW and PM are doing are reporting on it.

H&M choose to double down. They choose not to eat humble pie.

Although likely she would describe that as lobster and truffle pâte brisée going by recent efforts.

Well maybe she wouldn’t. Because that’s not a pie. It’s a tart.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 30/07/2026 19:25

@adragoncalledaudrey I don’t agree either, from what I can gather DW only apologised for getting involved and the language used, he wasn’t as far as I can tell apologising for the article which was upheld in a British court.

Mr Depp claimed that the article falsely accused him of assaulting Amber Heard, 37. However, The Sun and Mr Wootton insisted that the article was accurate.

In November of the same year, a judge ruled that The Sun had proven the article to be "substantially true", finding that 12 out of the 14 alleged incidents of domestic violence had taken place. Mr Depp then took legal action against Ms Heard in a separate US case over a 2018 opinion piece she wrote for the Washington Post, where she identified herself as a victim of abuse.

You say they're "just reporting", so what specific action by Meghan justified him promoting the surrogacy conspiracy? If there's no credible evidence for the claim, it isn't reporting her actions it's amplifying speculation. "Just reporting" isn't a defence if what's being reported is an unsubstantiated allegation.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 30/07/2026 19:38

I don’t think there is any law in reporting on rife online speculation, the whole worldwide “ where is Kate?”media frenzy which was widely reported on not only in the British mainstream media but also mainstream international media was fed purely on ridiculous online speculation, it’s the way of the modern media world, if someone puts it on X or wherever it spreads like wildfire true or not.
