It is only for discussing Jewels.
No discussions of current members of the RF, no de railing by talking about tax or ownership of certain pieces.

I meant to say I agree with @Not2identifying - some of the European royals have good tiara selections (and seem to be better at having tiara events than we are).

Mary Queen of Denmark has some corkers. She did very well with him.

If we are going to get into European ones at some point then the Swedish and the Dutch have great ones IMHO.

The Swedish and Danish RFs have some great jewellery. The Swedish RF get in a lot of tiara wearing 👍

It was said to be the ring he proposed with - so maybe it’s just intended as a proposal ring to be followed by a more conventional jewelled engagement ring in due course.

I was gutted, GUTTED that it wasn’t tiara-ville for the Coronation. Catherine’s thingy was nice but she’s a gold not a silver. I liked that Charlotte had a little one, but all the same, they could have gone full on Diadem.

If we are hoping for stomachers to make a return then this is the one for Catherine.
Its long, glitters like crazy but so delicate and has quite a few ‘en tremblant’ set diamonds so the flashes as it catches the light would be magnificent.
Stomachers first became popular in the 15th century. They were designed to cover the front of the bodice. As bodices changed shape so did the shape of stomachers which were re set and designed and adapted.
But in the 1920s the waist line all but disappeared- and so did the stomachers.
Queen Mary gave this stomacher to QEll as a wedding gift.
It seperates into 3 sections which can be worn as brooches.
It is late Victorian in design and is a whopping 8 inches, 24 m long.

Yes re the coronation. Surely the most appropriate occasion ever for full regalia!

I love the Royal jewellery - the history of them, the culture, the class, the fact they are actually real and meaningful.

I see why too - but in reality it meant they spent money commissioning new pieces instead of wearing something they already had.

Queen Mary very much collected jewels. She purchased Russian jewels after the 1817 revolution when they came up for sale and 3 Faberge eggs.

I love the Royal jewellery - the history of them, the culture, the class, the fact they are actually real and meaningful.

The craftsmanship and the fact that the things are seen out and about being worn as they were intended to be, not just sitting in a museum - or even in a vault where they are never seen.

She didn’t buy many of the Russian Jewels.
Apart from the Vladimir tiara the pieces she bought (at full market value) had a connection to the British Royal FamilY.
Like this piece which is fabulous.
It was a present to Princess Dagmar on the occasion of her marriage to the Tsarevich Alexander in 1866 from her sister and bother in law The Prince and Princess of Wales.
