Tha k you for the advice, I'll do that from now on. Easier than expressing an opinion on it 👍

You are very welcome 😅

A depressingly predictable outcome of giving these fucknuggets an inch.

So true!! , you were right in your predictions!

You do know there is video evidence of Meghan curtsying when she took ballet lessons ?
Perhaps protocol was a bit bemusing but she was certainly not mocking herself and she knew how to curtsy .
I have never seen evidence of her being self deprecating but rather she takes herself very seriously .
Interesting to welcome new people to the discussion who are obviously prepared to overlook blatant lies , misogyny, drug taking , bullying etc.

Yes I do! I don’t think this was about the curtsey per se.

She was talking about how one curtsies on first meeting the queen, her surprise that these formalities exist behind closed doors, not just in public on formal occasions, but when the family greeted one another in a private setting. and she sent herself up as she overdid it like someone curtseying in a medieval drama I think were her words.

Watch it again and keep watching! It’s all there.

My point being that this isn’t in any way “proof” of her disrespect. It’s genuine bewilderment at archaic practices coming from someone who is used to very modern, informal, relaxed, social interaction.

I have experience of this myself when in a professional capacity we invited US interns out for formal dinners. I don’t mean any disrespect to any Americans reading this thread btw bc it wasn’t just Americans who needed coaching by any means, Brits too, but we had to advise many of them on what to wear, not to turn up in trainers, how to handle the cutlery placing on the table, which was the water glass etc.

Similarly, M was making a point about etiquette and how she felt like a fish out of water, And we have all read the reports of Balmoral (for example, I forget where the curtseying incident took place) being a “test” for visitors.

The late Queen may have been willing to drink from a finger bowl to put a flustered ambassador at ease, but would she extend the same courtesy to a relatively young, divorced, American, mixed race girlfriend of her grandson? I doubt it! I doubt very much that they quite understood Meghan, or she them.

Well the leaking will damage them. They were (I'm sure) asked not to and they did

Indianrollerbird · 15/07/2026 16:06

Starryfifty · 15/07/2026 15:47

Well they are leaking all over the place so it's a good excuse for KC to refuse them at Xmas

Harry’s been accused of trying to drug a woman. Charles should not be inviting Harry to anything other than an interview with the police.

And as for those who continue to defend him knowing that he’s a would be date drugger , go and check your moral compass.

It’s a pattern they are unable to stop ! Self destruction, seems the only thing they are good at! 🤷‍♀️

Thedom · 15/07/2026 15:51

Okay, I guess that is you told then 🙂. but taking it to a very basic level, there is no one I know who would allow their kids mock someone in cultural traditional dress, for example, or mock someone setting up a prayer mat to pray, or mock any cultural tradition or practice.

Thats actually what Meghan did, she made a public mockery of a cultural Royal tradition, whether she agreed with it or not. Even my kids would know better than to do something like that.

Agree @Thedom.

As I've said before, most families have ways of showing respect to elders (in ours we stand up when the grandparents arrive, and hug or shake hands depending on the individual).

People generally understand that, and understand what it is to mock respected family members. That is why most people disliked the scene, not the simple 'curtsey'.

In my opinion, it is also why so many people disliked the whole Oprah/Netflix/Spare saga. Most people don't disrespect family in public (don't 'wash family linen' in public), and it gradually became clear that there was no major issue to warrant the saga, just a series of minor grievances.

Nothing screams "modern, informal, relaxed, social interaction" more than insisting on being introduced by your empty British peerage titles to an empty room in New York, does it?

And Meghan was quite happy to have 'archaic' titles imposed on her children. And to insist on using hers at all times. She's benefited massively by all these 'archaic' traditions.

And of course she was mocking the Queen. Even her dim husband could see that. Come on.

Cheers @BigWillyLittleTodger . No doubt you will be treated to further long essays about curtsying, to detract from a would be date druggist telling the plebeians they need to learn some resilience.

Starryfifty · 15/07/2026 16:10

Well H had a sit down with KC after he accused a Judge of misconduct and CG revealed about the drug incident so it seems KC isn't too bothered

If we take it to its most basic…. Meghan mocked Harry’s very elderly grandmother on the world stage! And for what? , she was only ever welcoming to her! .

Yes, shockingly that is the impression Charles has left us with, either wittingly or unwittingly.

bluegreygreen · 15/07/2026 16:13

Similarly, M was making a point about etiquette and how she felt like a fish out of water,

Isn't it a shame she didn't avail herself of the many efforts to help her?

bluegreygreen · 15/07/2026 16:14

I've seen the 'date druggist' a few times now on the board.

Is there any suggestion he was on a date with CG? I thought they were 2 separate guests at a house party?

Gravelpit631loft8 · 15/07/2026 16:15

IcedPurple · 15/07/2026 15:54

Some of us who don’t give a toss about royal protocol weren’t horrified and could understand why someone who grew up in California would find it baffling why people would curtsey to one another in private (which I think was the point she was making at that particular moment). That’s perspective two.

Would someone who grew up in California also find it baffling to be announced to an empty room in New York by their British courtesy peerage title?

Because I certainly find it baffling. Why would anyone do that? You'd have to be really obsessed with perceived status and prestige.

Edited

I didn’t say she wasn’t an ambitious hustler!

But I don’t see that as a terrible sin.

The etiquette of not mentioning money and downplaying your titles is all very fine when you have pots of dosh and live in castles … and parade around in gold coaches and tiaras… and benefit from huge amounts of tax payers’ money!

It’s not my style but I wouldn’t judge anyone harshly who has had to work hard for a living in a competitive industry for grabbing every opportunity that comes their way. It may not be subtle but it’s not criminal!

Yes let’s not worry about a Prince trying to drug a female “civilian” no power imbalance at all, nothing to see here, let’s talk about curtsying instead.

They were! , however I think that makes it worse!! , it points to a perceived pattern of behaviour from Harry! , any woman is fair game!
how many times has he done this that he has a supply on his person should the need arise!! 😬

Ok, drugging a female guest with whom he’s having a flirtation. Is that somehow better?

bluegreygreen · 15/07/2026 16:19

No, I think it's horrendous.

Some nice goalpost shifting there.

Meghan lives in a huge house in one of the most exclusive areas of California. She didn't get that because of her amazing acting career. She got it because she married into the British royal family.

She absolutely loves her titles, empty though they are. She adores the prestige and status she thinks they give her. Having herself introduced by said title in New York as though she were in a 19th century novel, shows just how obsessed by British royal status she is.

Painting her as some laid back Socal girl is laughable. So carry on.

If getting a Hollywood star is as simple as paying a fee, why doesn’t Kim Kardashian have a star on the Walk of Fame?

She is a is a billionare. She could easily afford that fee a thousand times over, and she openly wanted a star for years.

By your logic, she should have just bought one. But she couldn't. Because the fee is only a part of the initial entry process it does not get you to the next step.

And in fact for the stsr you don't pay the fee first you pay it after they agree to it.

This ks how this and other things like the Emmy awards words, you submit, paying a fee to cover the costs and then you sre either accepted or rejected, money has no bearing on that decision.

But hey let's just ignore reality.

Are you this confrontational in RL.??

Everything people say you seem to have an issue with.
If you don’t like what people are saying on here why don’t you just scroll by instead of being argumentative . Or start your own thread and argue with yourself? It’s so boring.
I bet you don’t get many invites to summer parties.

Seen it a hundred times! She was mocking the queen! Even Harry noticed! And comparing it to medieval times?? , a cheesy American themed restaurant! Further supports the fact you are wrong.

never mind the old stuff that has already been done to death here, what are your opinions on the new revelations about Harry pushing white pills into non consenting women’s mouths??

Rhaidimiddim · 15/07/2026 16:22

Well quite!
i have now decided I’m too tired and too old to debate something that I have already debated 5 years ago and ongoing, just because someone wants to rock up now and debate it like it’s new!

Yeah, and not knowing whether the poster is genuine and going to be "ooh, thanks, I never knew that" or whether you're going to get roped into a game of pigeon chess.
