I find the time scales and the distances Harry and family have been travelling dizzying. Harry (+ Meghan and children presumably) Birmingham to Highgrove and then Highgrove to Althorp. A lot of travelling for the children.

Also I would expect that either Charles or Camilla or both would have put in an appearance at the special embroidery award event, bit of a shame if they were unable to due to H&M turning up.

I must say I'm amazed Charles Spencer seems to be hosting them for several days. I hope this doesn't mean he will be collaborating with their proposed Netflix Diana special.

*Thanks for new thread @BigWillyLittleTodger

Yes I've been thinking about that too. When my kids were small long car journeys followed by introductions to unknown relatives would not bring out the best in them.

Plus jet lag or not depending on who you believe as to where they have been. Poor little buggers having to perform for uncle spencer and grandad charles. However nice the adults are being to them, it will be a very different and strange environment. Somehow I doubt that anyone except perhaps the paid staff are considering what's best for them.

They do. Perhaps they also have opinions. You have, as does everyone who is logged in and commenting.
Looking at it logically, Meghan is someone who enjoys publicity and having status, royal status. That's very apparent from how she has lived/is living her life. There's nothing wrong with that, lots of people seek the limelight, put themselves out there, share their lives on social media, share film of themselves in the kitchen and picking flowers. However, it's possible to question why there is a lull? We have no idea.
Perhaps she's just having a break from the fame game. Perhaps she's enjoying being A list royal adjacent again?
All conjecture.

I should of been much more clearer about my point, it was those people who make specific comments about wanting her to be shut up and be quiet and when she is then comment where is she? Why has she gone quiet.

I don't necessarily agree, but Mumsnet is playing up for me at the moment and between all the threads I'm getting confused. What specifically did The Times article say from Charles end that has people worried? Could you remind me here?

I'm still of the opinion that, whilst I think Charles has hope for a relationship with his son and grandchildren, that is separate and irrelevant to the monarchy and William. But it is hard to know which sources are genuine and which are made up.

It was the tone of the article and the timing, within 24 hours a PR puff piece appears with both “friends” of KC and H briefing on what was supposed to be a private visit.

Isn't he a bit long in the tooth and thin at the top to be still doing the 'cheeky chappie' thing?

We have learned over the last 6 years that the cheeky chappy was all an act carefully managed by MIGS. We have seen the real h since and it isn't nice. Vengeful, jealous, spoilt, drunk, inappropriate, looks unwashed, sweaty and smelly.
I hope ANL spank him hard. I hope SC and sentabale really hand him some truth, where I suspect we will see an even nastier side of him, I bet her accusations of misogynoir
have receipts.
All this invinctus flannel along with all the other fuckwittery in the press is insulting after all the shit he has caused. The last few weeks of constant ham has been too much. It was once amusing it is now an assault on my senses.
While I am at it KC can fuck off as well... namaste 🙏

Ok. Perhaps specifically challenge those posters
PS; sorry to be a pedant, but it's "should have" , plenty of people make that mistake, but it's useful to know the correct usage.

I think the grey rock approach has consistently given HAM scope to show who they really are.
I think next time we see Meghan she will be very demure and Royal and say 'I can't talk about my husband's family but everything is wonderful.'

Wasn't it inevitable though that"friends" would crawl out of the woodwork and comment? The chance for multiple articles is irresistable for the papers. Unless we get a statement from the palace that indicates a change in status I tend to enjoy but not put much store in PR fluff. The very fact that Harry's side are trying to create a ridt between the King and William indicates that no such rift exists

Always works brilliantly if you engage (‘wrestle with the pig’) it becomes a spectator sport of a battle between two opponents in conflict. If you put in the silence and distance and give them the stage it just becomes a spectacle of a ranting loon winding himself up screaming into the abyss. Very undignified but amusing to watch the ignorant fool fall into the trap, time and time again. Never get in their way.

bluegreygreen · 12/07/2026 10:30

The sad thing is that Harry is really good at being the cheeky chappie larking around with athletes at Invictus or with children.

He is mostly good with children, @MrsLeonFarrell, but even with them he is competitive and has to win (I'm thinking of the video last year where he was fencing with balloon swords with a girl in a wheelchair; fencing stance and wouldn't let her get near him to land any blows).

DJPJ · 12/07/2026 10:41

I wonder when PH will erupt once the penny drops that his ‘reconciliation’ is just the RF ‘managing’ him and there is no bail out money to pay ANL, no royal adjacency opportunities to monetise and no real actual family bonding for his extra special DCs and that him dangling / emotionally blackmailing KC3 with them won’t work again. There is no trust there. PH has shown his reactive and dangerously destructive side a hundred times over in full close up, in amplified detail over the past few weeks. Maybe his worst behaviour yet.

StartupRepair · 12/07/2026 10:46

The thing about the Thaw is that they were not just spiteful about almost all Harry's family but about their staff with specific slurs in Spare. The staff are even less able to respond to the insults.
How will they feel if he Is swaggering about the Royal Palaces again?:

That’s my reading of it all too. The various media outlets love royal stories to generate revenue. Of course they are hanging on for any little tidbits of information, and there will always be some people who are only too happy to share. But for now at least, it’s tiny crumbs.

My popcorn stash and I are mostly looking forward to “reformed” Meghan in the coming months. She can wear the costume, but can she keep up the behaviour? I’m sure people magazine will remain a source of entertainment.

desperatehazzer · 12/07/2026 10:47

I sincerely hope Charles isn't being an old fool here with Harry. Harry is seeking to create even more division in the RF by his recent actions. I feel for William and Catherine who have stood by Charles and helped him to his current position of popularity. The Sussexes are slime and should be treated as such. Charles needs to think about his role as the monarch and the future of it as opposed to pandering to the weasel.

Jiggy16 · 12/07/2026 10:49

Can I ask who people listen to for info? I get most of my knowledge from this thread and I love coming on to read what people think of the articles that are put out- but who do people trust most for info? Ive watched some of kinsey schofields videos and some of Neil Sean, but im taking everything as just speculation. Also news sources, I naively tend to go to bbc, tho I hear more and more people say they dont trust them anymore, in general.

Any suggestions welcome!

bluegreygreen · 12/07/2026 10:54

The Guardian article about 'The prince and the professional liar' is interesting but is itself misleading.

Although Nicklin did not assert that Johnson and Harris had set out to mislead the court, he noted inconsistencies in their evidence and ruled that it should be approached with caution. Harry and the other claimants may be entitled to wonder why they were trusted with the bungled attempt to bring Fleet Street’s biggest beast to heel.

Judge Nicklin specifically censured Harris in his judgement, calling him dishonest in regard to his proposal to use Bylines to obscure the timeline when the claimants knew of a potential claim.

Honestly? It's difficult to know. However, KC isn't a complete fool, and the monarchy is important to him. Perhaps it's a balance between still being a decent father and grandfather, and not being a bottomless pit of money and support.

How do we know it is BP briefing the press?
Saying a 'source close to the king' could mean anything

We don't know, @Recollectionsmayvary; as with the utter nonsense about will they/won't they come, the press make things up for clicks, relying on their readership to stampede onto the next thing and forget it when they've got things wrong

And thanks for the new thread, @BigWillyLittleTodger

He knew, even before his diagnosis, that this was not going to be a long reign. Errors over AMW will be sharply in his mind. Whatever claims are made, he does work closely with William, and there has been a lot of future planning. He knows that H&M are disruptive, he's got a measure, they can't manipulate him.

W and C are well respected by the public. More importantly, they can afford to play the long game.

I think "sources" are often "someone making an educated guess and building on it.

Years ago, on a thread about the royals before there was a royal board, I made a joke that I had got information and could give the following predictions. And I gave three very open comments along the lines of "Charlotte will wear a dress when we next see her", "William and Kate will be at an event that involves sport next week" and "Charles will take afternoon tea at a later time than usual on Wednesday due to an important engagement earlier".
Three really silly things that were totally plucked out of the blue.

I got, I think it was, 2 PMs from people desperate to know more information. When I replied that I was just messing around, those people got very huffy and told me that collecting from sources was an important role and I shouldn't be making fun of it. They were very insulted that I had suggested that it could be made up, but they also had fallen totally for what I'd said and clearly believed it.

That told me the strength of those "sources" that they were using. If they'd only used truly trustable sources then they would not have been interested in someone spouting silly things on the internet.

This doesn't surprise me at all, @MargaretThursday; I once mentioned on a RF thread that I knew Mountbatten's valet personally, and ended up with someone wanting to put me in touch with Lownie for his book

Nothing wrong with that in theory, though several issues over Lownie led me to decline, but though I was telling the truth there's no way someone could actually know that

Sometimes people make things up for effect, and that includes journalists
