Thanks for the link. So we have Harry very happy both before the meeting and today (suggesting he wasn't in receipt of a bollocking). Harry's flying monkeys already out there briefing about how happy he is, and how his attack on the judiciary just shows how "principled" he is and won't stop him building bridges with his father. Briefing from BP that they don't approve of that stuff, but nevertheless agreed to meet him. Lining us up to expect a further family visit in September. Drag the Waleses into it for being intransigent on reconciliation (whilst "wise" Harry accepts his fate with his brother). Spin, spin, spin.

That should be briefings from friends of BP.

Of course, we all see the meeting and its meaning in different ways, and I hope my disagreement with the majority view on this thread has not been impolite. We all still have the common goal of wanting to see the Sussexes get their just desserts and/or bugger off into obscurity.

Catching up so late to add this but I agree with you @Indianrollerbird. if it’s any consolation, Shauna Kay has just put out a video outlining a similar position. She’s thoroughly brassed off with what she sees as a reward for H and MM’s appalling behaviour, and the gaslighting from BP.

I’be been defending Charles for a while but I cannot see any defence for this. It is so clearly (to me) an engineered plan, leaked to the media to see how the public responds to H and MM being brought back into service, on their terms.

There is no way this was a “private” family occasion. No way on earth.

One thing I think is that H hasn't really moved on. Look at his IG event , Scotty's Little soldiers , he still trying to play the cheeky young chap curated by the MIGs. He is 41. He is a director of African Parks - have we heard anything from him about that? - He's a director not just a patron - he has extra responsibilities. He seems to me to be comfortable playing the clown & delivering his patronising speeches because no-one serious will pull him up on it . He's doing what he did as a younger man in the WRF. But that was a long time ago. In so many ways I don't think H has grown up & is just regressing to where he is comfortable. I may very well be wrong.

It’s all a bit Timmy Mallet isn’t it?

I'm curious, what did JK Rowling's child overhear?

A mother was reading Harry Potter to her child and doing the voices really well.
Repeated back to JKR who gave the mother a shout out.

I admit I sometimes feel a bit defensive when I see how isolated their kids are because they dont have cousins as my kids only have one cousin and we dont speak to my siblings (who don't have kids anyway) so when I see people say the Sussex kids will be isolated with no family, I think will mine be too and somehow miss out as they dont have these experiences?

And then I have to remember no. We have our cousins children's who we are building bonds with and plenty of family friends as well plus my kids aren't sheltered away in some massive mansion brought up by the staff.

Sorry I've probably derailed the thread but it had been playing on my mind (and I'm absolutely not having a go at anyone on here!)

I don't mean to cause anyone to feel defensive because they don't have a huge family! Lots of people have small families these days. My children don't have much contact with their cousins due to them all being 10-20 years older. But our children (and yours surely) aren't locked away in a mansion, not going out to public events, I don't think they even go to Church or carol services. A lonely trip to Disney land, with all public cleared out of the way? That's just creepy frankly.

Last night Catherine took George and Charlotte to a performance by the Royal Ballet School, sitting in the public seating area. (Actually I think it must be Charlotte and Louis from the photo or maybe all three. The person posting hasn't been overly intrusive with photos of the children).

Charles went to a performance of The Tempest at the RSC in Stratford, sitting in the stalls, recently.

A lack of extended family doesn't mean a child misses out on the normal social events of life with friends and public activities.

I had to google to remind myself of Timmy Mallet to check I knew who you were talking about. Apparently he is now a somewhat accomplished artist and sells paintings and does long distance cycling to raise money for charity , in memory of his brother and other causes .

So I agree but I would venture more- H isn't even Timmy Mallet. (No disrespect to TM intended there, he sounds like he is doing very very worthwhile things. ) 😊

JSMill · 11/07/2026 19:24

I do feel the events of this show ‘Megxit’ to have been a failure. They lost so much and gained little. M insisted her time in the UK and the RF left her close to suicide and H insisted on an apology for her from her family. Yet headlines this week indicate H was desperate for the children to come to the UK and meet his awful family. M’s non appearance at Invictus is either from concern that she will be booed or them finally listening to those who question why she is involved at all. Meanwhile, nothing they have launched has been a success. God knows what the future holds for them. M has gone from posting random crap on Instagram to radio silence.
I never thought M would allow her dcs back in the UK but now I am wondering if they would send them to schools in the UK to gaij access to rich and/or aristocratic social circles.

He has clearly evolved from the Wide Awake Club, I don’t think Harry is capable of that so he will stay stuck in his Timmy Mallet era for ever more, arrested development indeed.

I've just read about the Disney visit. Absolutely bonkers. You do worry about these children as they grow up. Growing up with this level of paranoia and hysteria can't be healthy.

Ferryl · 11/07/2026 19:51

I’m with @Indianrollerbird and @BigWillyLittleTodger on this. I’ve long had a soft spot for Charles but right now I feel frustrated that, apparently, H is not suffering the consequences of his behaviour, and Charles is letting him away with not-quite murder.

I say “apparently” because of course none of us know what went on in that meeting, but the optics are not good. It looks like H can behave like the loose cannon he is, and suffer no sanctions.

If I was W & C, no matter what I said in public, in private I would be hurt and angry. And evidently Camilla agreed to meet with the Sussexes but I don’t imagine for a second it was something she actively wanted to do. How they (the Sussexes) had the nerve to face her after all that’s been said I don’t know.

And as a total aside, years ago I used to go to weight watchers with Timmy Mallet’s wife. If ever there was a couple who personified the saying “opposites attract”, they were it!

BasiliskStare · 11/07/2026 20:12

Here's my take on this week. (and it's just my take ) BP 1 Sussex 0

H lost his ANL case and the media won't let him forget this
H & M threw out a lot of sound and fury about KC not giving H a bed for the night at BP - which some understand the reasons behind - I think by and large BP have put their case better
The "will they won't they" turn up , or unless H gets what he wants has been shown to be ludicrous and tedious
H has been able to traverse the UK quietly and without incident despite his Ravec waaaaaagh
H&M and A&L have been able to meet his father quietly ( and my goodness shouldn't they be grateful for his - KC's - and Camilla's calm grace in doing this)
It looks like W wants no part of all this reconciliation

I do understand the argument that H should have a very public slap down and that meeting KC and C was a "give". But It is clear - (and reported ) that this was a private family meeting. No further details , no photographs. I don't think that implies KC is going to pay H's ANL costs, is trying to get H&M back into the WRF , none of that. (Clearly I was not there and don't know what was said) Less than two hours with tea and a turn around the garden doesn't mean H will be welcomed back into the WRF.

That said - I would have liked to see that little goat at the Scotty's Little soldiers event butt H in the gentlemanly parts. What an end to the week that would have been. (this does not reflect well on me , I know )

ETA - I think no photographs is a sanction. I think KC has the measure of them.

Lol are you serious? You only see a handful of pictures of the children and where they were and what they are doing, this does not equate to them not going out and doing lots of things, you just haven't heard about them all.

We only see the Wales children a handful of times should we therefore equate that to them having no friends not going to birthday parties or doing other activities and therefore are being locked up only to be let out for a few ballet/sports and public events with their parents.

I do agree though that families are smaller as its unaffordable to have lots of children for one thing, some families aren't close due to toxic behaviour, some drift apart living far away that its hard to maintain close relationships and so yes it doesn't mean children miss out. You create your own family even if they are not blood related.

From that article I think Harry is reading far more into a brief visit with his Father than the palace are. It reminds me of the previous statement that he mistook tea and scones for the Treaty of Versailles. Nice for Grandad to meet his grandkids.

Thank you, I will have a look at SK’s video. I can imagine her disappointment. She’s extremely thorough and encyclopaedic on how the Meghan/Sussex saga has been spun through the media over these last 12 years (even pre the official Harry years).

I can’t wait to see her reaction to the Times article posted above. Harry saw KC yesterday, and already by today his friends have briefed the Times on his state of mind. They didn’t even wait to go back to Montecito to start blabbing. Meanwhile I have seen a lot of anger today on SM towards Charles, and I think your observation that it’s been a testing of the public’s response is an accurate one, because we have a “friend” of Charles and a royal aide already talking to the Times about how he is doing his very best as a grandfather and head of state - diddums! Don’t be mean to Charles!

For the record, I have always supported Charles, never liked Diana, never thought he should carry the can for his idiot son and brother. But he’s lost me now.

I really do agree with this. He’s a horrible, sinister, overgrown child. I feel so uncomfortable seeing him around other people’s kids. Especially after this week’s revelations. I don’t know why these orgs stay loyal to him.

Oh I have no doubt Harry has his minions out there making much more of this than it was. But, for me, that’s the problem. Charles should have known this would happen if he met him. And now what? The palace have to say, no it wasn’t anything like that, through a “friend” or “source close to”. Tiresome rival briefings until the next time? Or will he finally do something to shut them up and show them he isn’t playing anymore?

Yeh, that makes no sense.

He has armed security in the US, yet the kids don’t get involved in any public events…at all.

So there’s no way they would be involved in events here. Just more rubbish they are putting out.
