She's been absolutely radiant recently. Red really is her colour.

She has. Now that really is resilience! Take note, Harry!

BasiliskStare · 11/07/2026 16:33

@Indianrollerbird - your views are not impolite at all and this is why I enjoy these threads where people (mostly) put forward their opinion calmly and thoughtfully. No-one will ever fully agree with everything , otherwise it would be an echo chamber not a discussion. <whispers> I do agree with your view of the common goal 😊💐

She is, poor little girl. They called her Princess Lilibet Diana and I do hope that isn't a millstone round her neck.

Pretty sure when they announced her name they said she would be known as Lily. Then when the Princess title was adopted Lilibet seemed to creep in though Meghan has referred to her as Lily when talking about the children.

No. Lilibet didn't "creep in". That's the child's given name.

It is. The full name was announced from the off. Though they did also say she'd be known as Lili. Having it both ways as usual

Meanwhile at Wimbledon...

Meghan must be spitting edible sprinkles at this. Here's Catherine, looking fabulous in red at Wimbledon with Meghan in the UK without so much as a pair of socks to try flog on her clothing website.

Mylovelygreendress · 11/07/2026 16:44

I cannot believe that Meghan will not try to monetise this visit in some way .

Yes, it seems the kids go from one large estate to another….without seeing the world inbetween.

I mean, really what’s the difference between spending your time in a mansion in California, a mansion in the south of France, a mansion in southern England? It’s all the same, no?

They know nothing about the cultures of these places because they are completely shuttered away. Even on occasion where we see them ‘out’ - the pumpkin farm, Waterskiing, skiing…..it’s closed off to the public.

These kids will have a seriously strange view of what it is to live in a community, what it is to be part of a family etc.

Today Harry is at some family festival ….literally the perfect place to take the kids. Even if he didn’t want them photographed, I’m sure they could have arranged that. Instead they are away from kids their own age, learning about the British culture Harry seems to want to pass on. There would have been kids from all round the country there, all the different accents. There would have been summer picnics …..scotch eggs and all! But they miss even these tiny parts of culture because their mother and father keep them hidden away in huge mansions.

Instead what they will be doing today, is going on a boat ride to chat to their dead granny…..rather than actual real life people!

It's completely bizarre. They're having more sheltered lives than any of the royals in recent years, there are arguments against sending children to boarding school age 8 but I definitely think that's a better option than locked up at Montecito towers. Plus they don't appear to get the social interactions that the other royal children have always had, holidays with cousins at Balmoral etc. for instance. Diana had the boys queuing with the crowd at Thorpe park or wherever she took them.
JKRowling's children are adult/young adult now, but she tweeted something about what one of them overheard on the London/Edinburgh train recently, which suggested they weren't tucked away in first class. Other celebrities manage to bring up their children and have them live normal lives. I really wonder how these poor children will turn out.

Catherine was welcomed to the royal box with a standing ovation and round of applause too.

Whereas Meghan is hid somewhere in the midlands for fear that someone might sneak a pic at her children's faces?

AI obviously but too funny.

They got the crumpled clothing spot on 😂

HurrahforHollywood · 11/07/2026 15:52

No, but he might struggle to pay the court costs.

I see Harry left Althorp this morning so that must be where he has been staying. I thought he'd gone home.

@HurrahforHollywood My guess is that the lawyers will negotiate a lower settlement than $50 million and Sir Elton will pay it. And perhaps not have much to do with Harry going forward.

Yes I remember them saying she'd be known as Lili

Bit like Henry/Harry

I admit I sometimes feel a bit defensive when I see how isolated their kids are because they dont have cousins as my kids only have one cousin and we dont speak to my siblings (who don't have kids anyway) so when I see people say the Sussex kids will be isolated with no family, I think will mine be too and somehow miss out as they dont have these experiences?

And then I have to remember no. We have our cousins children's who we are building bonds with and plenty of family friends as well plus my kids aren't sheltered away in some massive mansion brought up by the staff.

Sorry I've probably derailed the thread but it had been playing on my mind (and I'm absolutely not having a go at anyone on here!)

This has absolutely allowed them to call her the shorter version while trading off the longer one. They knew media outlets would refer to both. As an example I went back and reread the latest People story. It starts out mentioning 'Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet' then later on shifts to 'Archie and Lili'. Hey presto, the HAM work is done!

However, their naming strategy also gives the game away. All they had to do was announce her name to be Lilibet Diana Doria to dispel the idea that they choose names for mercenary value not family ties. They couldn't even do that!

They're gonna go back to Cali thinking all Englishmen are called Charles and live in big houses.

I'm curious, what did JK Rowling's child overhear?

To be fair, it isn't unusual to have a formal and used name. Prince Henry/Harry for instance. Countless Thomases, Edwards, Williams, Rebeccas, Elizabeths, Katherines in english speaking countries are known by derivatives with the formal version on their birth certificate.

That's not my point.

One thing I think is that H hasn't really moved on. Look at his IG event , Scotty's Little soldiers , he still trying to play the cheeky young chap curated by the MIGs. He is 41. He is a director of African Parks - have we heard anything from him about that? - He's a director not just a patron - he has extra responsibilities. He seems to me to be comfortable playing the clown & delivering his patronising speeches because no-one serious will pull him up on it . He's doing what he did as a younger man in the WRF. But that was a long time ago. In so many ways I don't think H has grown up & is just regressing to where he is comfortable. I may very well be wrong.

Thanks for the link. So we have Harry very happy both before the meeting and today (suggesting he wasn't in receipt of a bollocking). Harry's flying monkeys already out there briefing about how happy he is, and how his attack on the judiciary just shows how "principled" he is and won't stop him building bridges with his father. Briefing from BP that they don't approve of that stuff, but nevertheless agreed to meet him. Lining us up to expect a further family visit in September. Drag the Waleses into it for being intransigent on reconciliation (whilst "wise" Harry accepts his fate with his brother). Spin, spin, spin.
