Is there a party at Althorp? Earl Spencer's new wife is a tough nut, she isn't going to tolerate any nonsense from H and M I suspect .

I think it's said to be a celebration of their recent wedding, HurrahforHollywood, in which case I'd wonder why they bothered considering this is wife number four ... or maybe they wanted to fit in it before it's time for number five? Confused

In the meantime, doesn't the discussion about "what it looks like" to host H&M miss the point that the RF aren't likely to care what the little people think?
They've oiled their way through so much appalling behaviour from various family members, and I though I think it a mistake to have publicised it I can't quite see that this brief visit counts for much in comparison

IcedPurple · 11/07/2026 13:09

The reality is that noone has a clue and we're all just guessing. Which just goes to prove that the Sussexes could easily come and go without anyone being any the wiser. Which is what many of us have been saying all along. If this visit has done one thing, it's shown that their overblown 'security fears' are a farce, as is the claim that they will be 'briefed against'. The only ones 'briefing' are them.

Exactly! Harrys whole spiel of "I can't see any world in which it would be safe to bring my family to the UK" is well just utter bollocks.

I wonder what there is left him for moan about though, or launch a lawsuit about?

bluegreygreen · 11/07/2026 13:25

I had understood that Althorp is closed for those 2 days in July every year.

If so, isn't it much more likely for an event for the twin daughters' birthday?

Oh he'll find something. He's a professional victim.
Probably the case against the DM.

I don't think the Earl has much of a relationship with his daughters. Wasn't he conspicuously absent from their weddings?

Mylovelychartreusedress · 11/07/2026 13:27

I like the wording in the bbc article - "visitors from California" - it feels like the fact that they're nowt to do with the RF is being underlined.

Some of the language used has been hilarious. He's 'desperately' looking for ways to bring the family'. They were guaranteed and then denied 'safe passage' as if he was fleeing a war zone instead of travelling by chauffeur driven car from airport to luxury hotel. He couldn't accept the offer to stay at BP because he was so absorbed in ensuring his family's safety.

When all along they had their plans sorted and knew very well they would be perfectly safe. It was just to generate headlines, and I guess it worked. Don't think it will the next time however.

I suspect it will, because the papers/news programmes still need to make money, and this is easy money.

They might throw a few more caveats in, though.

There isn't a single, non SS poster on these boards who has ever believed Harry's security fears had any credence (or that he would not be taken care of by RAVEC if there was a credible threat). And yes, I do believe they absolutely can come and go without anyone knowing, which is how their "private" family meetings should be and should always have been. Which is why I am dismayed at KC rewarding HAM with an audience when they have made, not just a fuss, but an absolute masterclass in DARVO against palace, judiciary and the UK public prior to the meeting.

Justdancevance · 11/07/2026 13:43

It gets headlines, but it won’t make the jam business successful as she’s still stuck on 4.7m IG followers.

i can’t imagine the pantomime will bring in any additional sponsors for Invictus, in fact, it could have the opposite effect

I normally sing from your hymn sheet but I don't agree with this.

He has taken the sting out of their argument, everything was on his terms.

I think a long with grey rock, offering private meetings has always been the plan- it's just now Ham is in the financial doldrums so they had to meet on KC terms.

If the media report on their charade next time the only people to blame are the people ua that click the links

Justdancevance · 11/07/2026 13:53

The public knows now about their what’s app briefings so if anything is mentioned, blame will be laid squarely at their door.

I’m guessing a large amount of the meeting was given over to Harry asking for money.

And all the hand wringing over how Charles could treat his 'child' so badly.

The 'child' is 41 years old and has two children of his own. Hardly a toddler, even if he acts like one sometimes.

Oh I know. So many people are still stuck in 1997 and still see Harry as a 13 year old boy. All "poor Harry" not seeming to understand that's he's 42 in a few months and a grown adult who is entirely responsible for his own actions. Why should Charles bend over backwards for him?

I too normally agree with you. & I see your point. In this one instance though , I don't.

I don't think H&M have been "rewarded" for their behaviour. I think KC has played the hand he was dealt as well as he could. Yes a meeting with his youngest child and the grandchildren & M. But BP got there first with the statement & said private no photos . So if these come to light , who will people be looking at. Maybe H is on a final warning ( yellow card may be more appropriate given current more important things 😂)

It's easy , well for me , because I think H has been behaving like a brat , to think , serve him right if KC doesn't agree to see him and his family. But that's not the better side of me. KC has been able to see his family ( ok he had to put up with M 😂) it was done as discreetly as possible , it has taken the wind out of H's sails about being unable to bring his family to the UK. Let us hope we hear less from H about this security nonsense in the future.

The very naughtiest side of me hopes that A&L were given a cream tea with Highgrove jam and said , "Mummy why can't your jam taste more like this? " But that is below the belt and I shall write a stern memo to self about cheap gags

I do too and unfortunately KC will cave as PH not paying latest costs is just too embarrassing

Alternatively , given that KC was against H pursuing this case and give the very bad publicity about HLMTQ largely funding PA's settlement , it is possible , and I hope , that KC will say - your decision H , you must live by it.
Do I ever think he will see his son bankrupt and on the streets ( I exaggerate for effect ) no I don't. But I think in either Bower's or Low's book - sorry from memory , don't have the reference haven't ) KC started not answering H's calls because all H was phoning for was money. & KC was bored of it. If it's private money we'll never know. I suspect Camilla and W may have an opinion.

I'm wondering about Archie and Lily - how strange it must be for them. They appear to spend most of their lives hidden away in the Montecito mansion, with just Doria and the nannies for company aside from the parents when they aren't in a heap on the floor. They have been whistled off to somewhere in Europe - ? Elton John's place? Possibly with Eugenie in Portugal which would be nice with cousins to play with but I'm not sure she isn't over here at KP, preparing for the birth of her baby. Then onto presumably a private jet to fly into London, I'm assuming Heathrow, bundled into a blacked out people carrier to head down the M4, better not need a loo break as I can't see an unscheduled stop at a service station being an option. Brief meeting with people they have either never met or were too young to remember meeting, quick run around the garden and loo break then back in the car to some other destination. (Althorp being two hours minimum). Meeting distant relatives and the few old friends who remain in contact with Harry. Probably bundled up to the nursery wing - I have a wealthy well connected relative and they definitely keep children out of the way in the nursery area. Then it'll be back to Heathrow and home to the gated seclusion of Montecito. I'm not sure they will have gained anything from the trip.

On the matter of security I wonder if either H or M have thought ahead to when the children are older and may expect to flee fly the nest. Maybe go to university or whatever, but forging their own lives, hanging around night clubs or the party circuit, or flying to the UK to visit relatives. Will H be on the hook for three times the security then? How does he think they will grow into independent people.
Will they even learn to drive? I think nearly all the Royals like to drive themselves, even if they have security with them. William and Harry were driving around soon after passing their tests, Diana used to, Charles still drives himself at times, I've seen him, with the security following on behind. Yet I get the impression Meghan never drives anywhere, having her security chauffeur her everywhere, and I'm not sure Harry drives much in the USA either. Such an odd upbringing those children are having.

FenellaFeldman · 11/07/2026 15:36

As pp have said, @ShamedBySiri, they called that child Princess Lilibet Diana for a reason.
That reason is money.

I think Charles realises that when Harry is short he becomes more and more troublesome in public too.
