Harry understands Royal protocol – he knows you can't just rock up at Buck Palace with a few hours' notice and expect to be waited on, especially if no other family members are in residence and there's a skeleton staff in place.

I don't think Harry has ever given a second thought as to how things in the palace worked - he has just turned up, and everyone else has done the work to organise it around him.

The original Rebecca English article from last night (about the Royals keeping themselves busy and being fed up with the psychodrama) was very much what she's been saying over the past few weeks on Palace Confidential on YouTube, just now putting it in print.

Re the invitation being declined/refused, I personally would believe the Palace version over Harry's. The Palace has said consistently that they haven't had a response, so it fits that they finally got a refusal on Saturday morning, and then a (too late) acceptance later that day.
I also don't believe the Palace would be stupid enough to put in writing to Harry that they were withdrawing an offer to stay because of the ANL judgement timing.

Also, didn't Harry's 'statement' say that BP had known the outcome of the ANL case since Thursday? They aren't a party to the case so how would they know? Unless Harry told them?

Oh, go on. I still want to see you eating that hat 🤣

Do we know when he’s supposed to be arriving?

I assumed it was today, as the first event is tomorrow I think?

If he isn’t going to appear it’s got to come out very soon surely.

I suspect he's already here, elessar, and frankly the media carry-on with will he/won't he come is getting ridiculous

As for the latest "palace statement" - what statement? I can't see anything they've actually written or said and the only real reference is something about Chris Ship drivelling away on Twitter, which doesn't count

I was going to make this point too. And it explains the ridiculous stances he takes on every issue. He’s just been used to his every want and need being accommodated without any understanding of the management (and people) required to make them happen.

Whoever marketed and managed his royal image as a man of the people was an utter PR genius, as his staggeringly out of touch behaviour since shows how entitled he really is.

It is therefore disappointing that the offer has now been withdrawn, with Tuesday’s judgment in the Associated Newspapers Limited case cited as the reason. Buckingham Palace has, however, been aware of that judgment since last Thursday.

I don't know if he's saying they know the result (in which case he has broken the embargo) or that we discovered on Thursday that the judgement was due to be handed down on Tuesday.

bluegreygreen · Today 11:13

@Puzzledandpissedoff It's in this article (and probably elsewhere)

https://archive.is/oZ412

The Daily Mail understands that despite repeated requests for clarity, no formal response to the offer of accommodation at a Royal residence for the Duke and his family had been received by the necessary deadline at the end of last week.

While every effort had, it is understood, been made to facilitate the Duke’s stay, as a courtesy to staff and others involved, the Royal Household does require a minimum level of notice to ensure he could be hosted appropriately at a Royal residence.

Since this offer was first made, every indication from the Duke and his senior team has remained that the accommodation was deemed unsuitable, including in correspondence received on Saturday morning which formally declined The King’s offer.

While a belated request was subsequently received later in the day to accept this accommodation for the Duke for a limited period, the appropriate hospitality and staffing provision was no longer available.

Yeah could be that. Though we found out the judgement will be on July 7th on Wednesday, not Thursday.

Who knows with this clown? It would seem strange to rescind the offer because of a court judgement rather than, say, Harry not being arsed to give the required notice period. The whole thing is just dizzyingly stupid.

CrocsNotDocs · Today 11:14

This reminds me of an old Jeffrey Archer short story called Henry’s Hiccup. A rich man is taking his new bride to Paris for their honeymoon postwar and doesn’t have his servants anymore due to them still serving in the forces. He is shocked that all the things he took for granted- luggage management, first class tickets, fancy suites and dinner reservations no longer just miraculously happened. He thought they happened because of his greatness, not due to his frantic servants working behind the scenes.

The similarities to Harry’s situation are uncanny.

Edited

Not just his "team" but his "senior team!"

I take it they mean the Chief of Staff? Or the Global Press Secretary?

Or Rachel with the Hotmail?

HoldMyWine · Today 11:16

Harold has become
so very tedious. KC and PW should really now completely freeze him out. He is such a headache for them.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · Today 11:18

If only there was someone who has a freakish attention to detail who could help Harry organise himself…

DaisyDooley · Today 11:19

IF the family are in Europe why is it that they can fly in to an unspecified European country, stay (presumably without armed police and blue lights) somewhere without fanfare, with the children and without terrorists and paparazzi following them? If they can do that in (Portugal?) why can’t they do it here?
They could have flown in via private jet to an airfield, at night, straight to BP, enter via a side entrance, kids & Meghan in rooms in BP while Harry comes and goes doing his ‘stuff’ (with a footman outside the door to escort them to certain places), use the pool, gardens, have friends (what friends?!,) come to see them, see the King, leave in the same way they came. If they wanted to go to Althorp then employ the same nighttime journey.
Nobody would have known they were here. Nobody would care either.

Harry Kane is an English hero.
Prince Harry is an utter shameful knob. I would be happy if he never ever set foot here again.
When he runs out of money though the RF will have some control -if you want money you do as we say or the bank is shut.

Brilliant!
The thing is, if you're planning a visit to the UK for long standing engagements, knowing that the current situation is to not have enhanced security, you'd make arrangements months in advance.
Then if you get enhanced security, so much the better.
That's what normal people, without a grotesque sense of victimhood and entitlement, would do

Puzzledandpissedoff · Today 11:23

Many thanks for the link, @bluegreygreen, but yet again it's "the Mail understands that ...", which is hardly the same as a "palace statement"

Call me dense but I honestly can't see how this matters beyond making Harry look even more stupid, if that's possible. I'd say why not just wait to see what he does, but realise that won't suit the drive for clickbait

ShamedBySiri · Today 11:28

gishgalloping · Today 09:28

The Daily Mail just updated their earlier story to say the same thing - Harry left it too late to accept the offer. Always so much ridiculous drama with those two.

Earl Spencer should put out a similar statement re any proposed visit to Althorp.

JSMill · Today 11:30

Honestly this shit is really pathetic. It’s been going on since the Christmas before Megxit, when it was will they/ won’t they go to Sandringham. I really don’t why it even makes the headlines or merits as ‘breaking news’.

Isn't it only The Office of The Dook that put out a 'statement'?

I don't think BP have said anything on the record. Nor should they.

A very good comparison. I read similar about the deposed Empress of Persia, after the Iranian Revolution she went to live in Paris. She kept bumping into people in the street because she'd been so used to people stepping out of her way.

Harry Windsor the Whinger knocking Harry Kane the Hero off the front pages will never be forgiven. Some things are sacred and beating Mexico in the World Cup is one of them. He's gone too bloody far this time 😀

So what do we have now - Hazza currently circling in the stack over Heathrow with only the Croydon Travelodge available upon landing? 😄

notimagain · Today 11:39

jeffgoldblum · Today 10:58

I’m now wondering if it’s true he’s in France and the subtle hints about helicopters, was in fact him requesting a royal helicopter go and pick him up?!

If he's actually flying in from the West Coast he will be en-route now (assuming he wants to be in the UK tomorrow AM)

As far as biz jets go the limiter if this really is all a last minute rush will be probably be getting an aircraft, not the flight plans - they're admin, albeit important.

If he is in Europe rught now and wants's slum it he could do what has always been possible....into LHR commercially, perhaps in business class, then whisked through the relevant terminal by special services and onto BP or wherever by blacked out SUV.

Only the online pages. Tomorrow's print pages will still be all about King Kane.
