The DM is struggling to keep up with the BP fiasco; screenshot shows two breaking news items in complete contradiction.

I tried to add this photo to my previous post via edit but was unable to do that.

Meanwhile, not a peep about the actual purpose of his visit.
IG need to dump this bozo before any further damage is done.

Well it’s all going swimmingly isn’t it!!!
a cynical part of me thinks this current pr spinning cock up is to provide Harry with an excuse to stay home , to avoid the ANL verdict! 🤷‍♀️

Charles and Diana were absent parents, typical of the aristocracy.

Diana would have preferred to be more the sort of parent that Catherine and William have been, but she was the outsider who married in and couldn't take the change that far at that time. She still managed to make substantial changes such as taking baby William with them on overseas trips, which at the time was a major departure - generally RF members left their children for years when it suited them (see HMTLQ leaving Charles to go off and live the life of an officer's wife with Philip in Malta. No wonder Charles is messed up...)

With the help of the Middleton model, and the precedences set by his mother, William has taken parenting to a far more functional level.

You could be on to something there. No where to stay.

All we need is Megs riding into town on a Donkey.

Dopsicle · Today 10:14

All this fake drama and uncertainty and leaving things to the last minute. Harry doesn't seem to know whether he's on his head or his arse. Of course he didn't consider the staff in all this - they are just minions who can be turned on and off like a tap.

If I travel somewhere then I tend to arrange my accommodation there BEFORE getting on the plane. It's part of being an adult.

I think Diana was quite happy to pursue her love life at the expense of her Sons. .

Edit to remove rogue apostrophe.

No. She was an aristocrat to her fingertips. The model she chose was nannies, a nursery suite on a different floor and boarding school.
Both her sons were at boarding school and when they broke up, that last summer, she spent weeks on a yacht with her boyfriend. Not with them. She was the absent parent.
Hands on mother she was not. Her choice. She was nothing like William and Catherine.

This is SUCH a good point!

Harry understands Royal protocol – he knows you can't just rock up at Buck Palace with a few hours' notice and expect to be waited on, especially if no other family members are in residence and there's a skeleton staff in place.

If what HIS spokesman says is true and they've all known about the ANL verdict since Thursday, then, yes, this new twist could be contrived by the Sussex camp. They formally rejected the invite to stay on Saturday knowing that they could make it look on Monday morning like it's the Palace rejecting him because of the ANL verdict. With no other arrangements in place now, he'll have stay where he is at Sir Elton's gaff in Nice. So, so manipulative – and very much in the HAM playbook.

I don't think any of those things were things she would have chosen. They were expected because her husband was the future King. Her sons were at Balmoral most of the Summer so she was left to her own devices. She didn't want things to be that way.

I feel for PW. This nonsense will follow him into his ascension to the throne unfortunately

I think - and hope - that PW will nip it, pronto.

Whilst HAM reckon they are savvy, they are actually sadly lacking in that department. William and Catherine are in fact the savvy ones. They saw the American adventuress coming a mile off, that's why they were so concerned for Harry and tried to warn him, as documented by Harry himself. I suspect William won't have any of the nonsense that his father has effectively fallen for. There won't be any invitations to stay in Royal residences because William will be able to see that such approaches would be either manipulated by his brother or fall into complete farce. I imagine William sat with his team right now watching this melodrama play out saying "I said exactly this would happen."

I can see him being quite a radical king generally. He's very occasionally done pieces to camera, such as over the Panorama scandal - and I can see him doing that again, if he thought it was called for. He and Catherine very successfully tread the incredibly fine line between regality and relatability. I think they'll continue to nail it, and leave HAM looking even more like ridiculous relics from a past era.

I agree. Diana was in a system, and she carved out what she could for herself and her children within it, knowing that at any moment she could effectively lose them just as her mother had done with her and her siblings. Her parents custody battle was horrific and forever haunted her. She would never have rocked the boat to the point that Frances did. But despite that she tried her best to bring her children up as normally as was possible in that era and in that culture. Her success is in William taking it to the next level.

It's 100% negative though. MM won't like that.

Exactly, we all know that Harry's got paper thin skin when it comes to even the slightest criticism of him or his wife, he's shown that many times.

What a tool.

OctopusFriend · Today 10:28

I don't really want to turn this into a Diana thread, but hands on Mum she was not. She could have seen her sons in July and August, and for more than a couple of days.
The glamour of the Fayed yacht was preferable.
Post mortem, Diana seems to be infantilised as much as Harry is.
She was a very wealthy and very powerful woman. She could have taken her sons away somewhere private for a few weeks, but like her younger son, the lure of media attention was preferable.
Her choice.

Do we know when he’s supposed to be arriving?

I assumed it was today, as the first event is tomorrow I think?

If he isn’t going to appear it’s got to come out very soon surely.
