Only payday in sight is Meghan's memoir and/or a Kardashian type reality tv series.

@Dameputtingonabraveface I think I am largely with you on your views . 😊💐

And of course thank you @OctopusFriend

Either would be 👌

@BasiliskStare, they are the gift that keeps on giving. I know it is not big or clever, but I am from the generation when Heat magazine was a thing and their earnest bollocks/total lack of any insight keeps me entertained . They have had the luxury of lots of advice and PR which I assume they have chosen to ignore. Therfore, I refuse to feel bad about enjoying the car crash. I would not even hang out my pants on the line for discussion. They have invited the world in 😁

I can’t imagine that Harry and Meghan wanted to skip July 4th this year in the States as the kids are an age where they will probably remember it and it is a big one.

So just more hot air on Harry’s media what’s app group.

Good excuse for them not to be at the wedding of the year though (Taylor Swift for posters who aren't following that story) if they're out of the country. Plus they hardly ever seem to organise their movements around what the kids would like or enjoy. Even the Disney visit centred Meghan wearing Mickey ears and grinning.

I dip into these threads. I am not really a royalist, but not a republican either. As I have become older, I realise that I have a lot of respect in many ways for the soft power that the is afforded by the Royal Family. When QE2 died, I felt weirdly un-anchored, for want of a better term. Not so significantly that it impacted my day to day life, but that she had always been there. There were (sometimes considerable) mis-steps, but it is hard to argue that she did not put her duty and loyalty to her role and the British public and empire before everything else. It is a rather dated viewpoint in many ways, but I think one people either openly or on some level grudgingly respected.

I also am quite fond of King Charles. He spent years waiting to take on the job in his 70s, was lampooned for his beliefs in regard to the environment (ahead of his time) and the Princes Trust has achieved some great things (saying this as someone who has worked with vulnerable people for years).

I am old enough to remember the whole Diana fairy tale marriage, the optics during the marriage, the divorce and the early death. Whilst very sad, there has been a lot of poetic re-imagining over the years! I remain perturbed by those who remain anti Camilla to this day. I think she would be the first member of the Royal Family I would like to join for a drink, and is very good for Charles.

So in summary, I thing the British Royal Family is in quite a good place. I came onto the forum to see if there was any discussion about the DoC just wandering about at Wimbledon today and the joyful photos of Louise graduating with her parents, the Edinburgh's being there to support their daughter. The optics are changing which makes HaMs grandiose behavior even more laughable.

I do not hate Harry and Meghan, but I love cleb gossip. This is where they sit in the world now. They are the gift that keeps on giving. Whilst the slimmed down working royals are championing causes such as osteoporosis, the use of rape as a war crime, early years intervention, domestic violence etc I remain confused as to what they do, except their self proclaimed philanthropy and some half arsed crap about the impact of social media on children. This is whilst posting their children constantly on social media. They really do invite it all the criticism they receive.

This is a great post . I loved seeing Catherine wandering around SW19 and sitting with Andy and Tim watching the tennis , clearly enjoying herself surrounded by “ ordinary “ people.
Can anyone honestly see Meghan doing that ?

No way have H & M been invited to the big wedding...if they had we'd have gotten a 'sneak peek' of outfits or something along those lines...

Honestly, they are both just too dull for a reality show and a memoir would be deluded, nonsensical bollix full of "her truth "

Great post, @Dameputtingonabraveface- I think your summary probably reflects the way that many of us feel. Well put. 👍

@PullTheBricksDown, I do not think anyone believes they would have been invited to this wedding. I cannot recall they have actually been invited to any event for years? They may have attended (invited themselves) to some z list events, but when was the last time they were known to be at an event amongst the A list? The last event I can remember was the disastrous Kardashian party photo? Whilst well known, they are reality stars. Not the Clooney and Obama proximity that was touted in the early days..

Starryfifty · 02/07/2026 22:19

Something is definitely off. If they were in Portugal, she'd be posting photos of back of kids' heads on the beach etc ....she has been very quiet

Dameputtingonabraveface · 02/07/2026 22:20

@OctopusFriend and everyone else. Thank you so much for your kindness, I may occasionally now venture here to post! Keep up the good work. I am not that arsed about ex- HRH over-privileged arsehole and The Most Trolled Woman in the Universe (Trade Mark). You are keeping me entertained during a particularly difficult time. Unmumsnetty hugs to you all 😘

Well we know Meghan DIDNT do it did she -when she turned up inappropriately dressed for the Royal Box and then insisted many people were removed so she didn’t have anyone sat near her.
The funniest thing about that day was when her security approached a man who was seated in the front row, about 2 rows ahead of Meghan re him filming her to discover he was doing a ‘selfie’ of the court and he didn’t give a damn about her.

Here’s the daily mail article about it from the time (2019] which amusingly contains a quote from Piers Morgan who said “If you want to live privately go back to America “. Little did we know in 6 months -she would!

Seems from reading the article that her PPO team were embarrassed by her behaviour. The red flags were flying weren’t they!!

Wimbledon spectator blasted by Meghan's aides was taking selfie

Photos have revealed a Wimbledon fan who was stopped from taking photos near the Duchess of Sussex last week by a bodyguard was actually taking a selfie.

Red flags were everywhere. But the biggest one was their wedding. One member of her family. No close friends and celebrities she never met. Madness

3-2-1

and the Sussexes will put out a statement saying they are far too busy preparing for their (faux) royal tour to make the time to attend Taylor Swift's wedding
😂😂😂

With very low key security given the crowds - no need to clear whole seating stands for her and in the less secure outside courts rather than the VIP experience of the royal box (although I'm sure we'll see that too for finals)

(and her "Diana-esque" earrings being priced up at £50 in the DM 😂)

Sussexist tame journalists in the Liam McGuire ‘ship of fools’ WhatsApp group now seem likely to include:

Alison Boshoff, Daily Mail
Chris Ship, ITV
Daniela Relph, BBC
Tom Sykes, Daily Beast
Tom Bradby et al from previous uncritical interviews

All now trying to bail out from the ignominy.

IMHO, the broader issue is the enablers beginning with KC3 and including Invictus leadership (in particular Chair Lord Allen and CEO Rob Owen).

Instead of disciplining H, KC3 chose to protect his second son from consequences. H's lived experience is that a long, loud temper tantrum gets him what he wants, so H is executing a strategy that succeeded for the first thirty-five years of his life.

Lord Allen cannot credibly state that H is a net positive for Invictus from a fund-raising and reputational standpoint. As for CEO Rob Owen, if someone with rudimentary accounting knowledge can look at the redacted Invictus information and raise their eyebrows...I find it hard to believe that Owen is unaware of the numerous financial red flags.

Sophie Chandauka stood up to H and withstood his huffing and puffing, as well as the vitriol unleased by the vicious squad. The fact that none of these three men, who are in a far stronger position than SC, have taken any steps to protect the veterans from H makes me side-eye all three.

Once again, blaming KC for Harry's behaviour.
Harry is a 41 year old father of two. He's not an adolescent. He makes his own choices about his behaviour, attitude and actions.
Many of us have had less than perfect parenting. You know what? We still have to make our way in the adult world.
KC isn't the only father in this story, and it's time Harry started acting in a better way for his children.

Agree with octopus here. KC may not have been perfect but he certainly wasn't an absolute shit of a father. H also had another parent, fair enough he was young when she passed. H is also a father and I would go out on a limb and say he's far from a perfect father. Hysterically crying, venting because he's not getting his way? Denying his young children fruitful relationships with grandparents, cousins, allowing his wife to post daft, embarrassing photos of them
