My recollection is poor. Was someone actually opining that the coronation should not be held on the same day as the birthday of a person that would not be in attendance?

This reminds me that the US presidential inauguration always takes place on my birthday. I have PTSD as a result.

I expect they won’t be allowed to film anything in or around any royal property - and if KC3 insists on private meeting only - then they are totally scuppered for royal adjacency photo ops - unless they do a collab with Spencer on his estate / Diana island - but that would be a bit tasteless / morose - first reveal of A & L faces is ‘Daily Mail Sad Face’

Slight derail...The fictional Barlet administration had a "Big Block of Cheese" Day...

They can promise to STFU but who would believe them, they have a record for tale telling and have more twists than a curly wurly? I doubt other members of the RF will play their game either, can't see Aunt Zara giving them pony rides for example! As my late mother would have said 'Zara knows which side her bread's buttered on'.

There's also talk on X that Althorp is closed the weekend of 11/12 July (which I think coincides with Wimbledon finals), but some commenters have said it closes for that weekend every year (no idea why). Anyway, he surely wouldn't be having them all to stay a whole weekend?

They were very very limited as to the days they could pick.
The FA cup, May Day and spring back holiday are in May - also there were local elections and Eurovision in Liverpool, plus the G7 .
Pulling together hundreds of heads of state/royals/dignitaries for a specific date is no easy thing.
Policing is booked in advance and we only have a finite number of police officers.
All the PCSOs were used too (hello Penny Lancaster 👋)
The King didn’t pick that date. The Prime Minister along with the home& foreign secretary’s did plus the MET, Ml5/6 would be involved.
I suspect not one of them neither knew nor cared about the birthday of a kid who wasn’t even invited.

With the increased scrutiny of royal finances, there will be an outcry if they monetise any appearances with senior royals

There comes a point with awful behaviour like theirs where it's just "Oh god they're at it again", and they're so bereft of ideas that itr's just the same ugliness over and over again

Its good that Charles Spencer refused filming at Althorp. Can you imagine what they'd do? Backs of kids kneeling to put flowers on the grave type stuff.

Harry thinking his dad has a say on RAVEC and the date of the coronation makes me wonder how awful he must have been as a boy. "My dad's going to be the King and be in charge of the WORLD". Must've been nauseating for adults around him, such as teachers.

I know the Spencer’s still see Harry but I really don’t think they would allow that.
Meghan never knew Diana - the Spencer’s loved her and along with William will protect her memory.
I don’t think for one second that the Spencer’s are closer to Harry than William.
I know it’s not a competition but -who would you(coll) choose?!
The Spencer’s are loyal to the crown and will be incredibly proud that Diana is the mother of the future King.
