I’m with Kate on this. I’m not a big royalist but it must be horrible to hear your young kids getting booed.

People have no other way of expressing that they don’t support a monarchy. Perhaps we should have a referendum? It’s 2026, do we need such an archaic institution when UK citizens are struggling financially?

After the last referendum?! No thanks.

Off with their heads!😆

Because she looked a bunch of republicans in the eye while they were yelling at her and her children, remained gracious, waived, and because she’s popular, they need to portray her as a bitch trying to scare them off. Nobody’s denying them the right to protest. But apparently, they are scared of being looked at by a woman and 3 children.

There is another take on this

I would imagine she would think okay I will be gracious and put my hand up to you but at the moment there is nothing you can do we are here to stay

She has more decorum than to glare

Never, it’s rude and ignorant behaviour.

I see . ‘Rude and ignorant’
Is that your judgement of Rory shouting ‘Andrew you are a sick old man’ at Elizabeth’s funeral too ?

Yes

Ukisgaslit · 16/06/2026 19:23

Ok. Got it
Thanks

That’s where we differ .

Ukisgaslit · 16/06/2026 19:25

Mustn’t call out Epstein associates for fear of being thought ‘rude’ eh?

Yelling at someone from a crowd achieves nothing

They are human.
They didn’t necessarily choose the roles they’re in.
Most importantly children are involved. All children are vulnerable and should be protected.

its the royal family who should be protecting their children by not parading them around. But they absolutely do it. And yes they chose those roles everyday because of the privilege that comes with it. They can petition parliament o abolish the monarchy. And they can support those that choose to leave it

our model does work and at relatively low cost

Absolutely not

Ah yes.

The comparison of costs for European monarchies for 2023, which carefully omits that 2023 was the year of the Coronation in the UK.

Should we all just silently seethe at our exploitation instead?

But doesn't examine the eye-watering costs of said coro which included an awful lot of let's say special oil annointing behind specially commisioned screens unnecessary bells and whistles.

Please do prove otherwise, I'm all ears

Well it does really. Loads of articles on how annoyed Kate looked, from her horse drawn carriage. Loads of comparisons made between her families lifestyle and normal families in the UK.
Loads of discussion happening on the fairness of it all, and the cover ups being made by the Royal Family.....tax affairs, wills hidden, etc, never mind the disgrace that is pompous Andrew and his scum filled life.

So yes, id say shouting out from a crowd has achieved a lot in this context.

I really don't think it did. Most people said she didn't look annoyed at all. And even those who thought she did mostly said she was simply being a protective mother, which only made her more popular.

Most people also pointed out how few republic protesters were actually there, and many said they didn't agree with adults shouting at children.

So if anything, the reaction seemed to generate more sympathy for Catherine and the children rather than support for the protesters.

There is always discussion going on on the items you mentioned. Yelling at a Royal event doesn’t make them any more relevant.

I read a thing that said the papers were focussing on the glare and the demonstrators because there wasn’t much else exciting happening at the TOTC. No drama about who was on the balcony -only a few people and all of them well known, no new scandal, no outrageous frocks, no naughty Louis…. nothing front page worthy. So sun in her eyes had to do.
