I’m with Kate on this. I’m not a big royalist but it must be horrible to hear your young kids getting booed.

Maybe she’s just practicing her resting bitch face for when she’s queen? The late queen had a memorable one.

simpsonthecat · 16/06/2026 10:10

I think it's good for the children and Kate to know we are not all sycophantic fans of the Monarchy
Even Royal children have life lessons to learn. Perhaps if they realise that only 64% of the population support them (meaning 20 million adults in the UK do not support a monarchy) when George's time comes along, he can do better

I think Kate knows that!

MarieAntoinetteQueenOfFrance · 16/06/2026 10:29

If that's the best she can do, then she needs a lot more practice.

As for the kids, a reality check in the form of non violent protest can only be a good thing. George and Charlotte are definitely old enough to understand their privilege and where it comes from. Who knows, it might all be taken away one day...
I think Louis is still young, but even he can see that this is free speech in action. Nothing wrong with it.
I hope this is taken as a discussion/ learning opportunity for the children.

Folk have the right to protest against this overpriviledged band of billionaires bankrolled by the public.

This.

ThatAvidViewer · 16/06/2026 10:57

I can't stop laughing at some of these comments and the media coverage.

One well-known anti-Wales commentator and obsessive Sussex supporter makes an X post claiming Catherine was "glaring" and that the children were upset.

In reality, Catherine and the children simply looked towards the noise, and they even waved. Somehow, that is now being interpreted as her glaring. She wasn't glaring at all.

People really do see what they want to see.

Allseeingallknowing · 15/06/2026 19:50

The Trump’s what?

Parasites.

Ukisgaslit · 16/06/2026 13:40

People have every right to protest the Windsor Andrew protectors.
They are lucky it was only a few boos .
They should be chanting - ‘what do you know about Epstein? How long have you known it ?

Here’s an idea - maybe don’t use children as PR props . There is no need for them to be anywhere near these pantomimes.

Kate did glare and it was another misstep .
We are told she is made of ‘steel’ . Yeah
we get it . We get that William is mostly incandescent too.

I agree. It was really no more than a glance, and certainly not any kind of glare!

Ukisgaslit · 16/06/2026 14:32

Allseeingallknowing · 15/06/2026 18:35

She’s obviously glaring, and so is Charlotte! It was mean to use an occasion like this to boo at the family.

When is a good time to boo the royals in your opinion?

noonames · 16/06/2026 14:40

Can someone post a link to or pic of the glare because I have had a look and can only see photos of a neutral expression or a sort of half smile. (The article in the OP does contain a photo with a more serious expression but in the wrong outfit, so not at this year's Trooping.)

Gettingbysomehow · 16/06/2026 14:50

I'm not a monarchist by any standards so I just don't attend or watch any of their shenanigans. I wouldn't bother to start waving placards and screaming.
I think they have all behaved very badly from Edward V111 onwards and apart from the Queen most of them suck.
Andrew was the last straw.

Ukisgaslit · 16/06/2026 14:56

I don’t think many do watch their pantomimes but people have a right to protest and it’s important that the yellow of Republic is seen .

It was only a matter of a few years ago that Republic members were arrested before a protest - despite having previous meetings and agreements in place .

Remember the vicar who was arrested for shouting ‘who elected him?’ At Charles’s ridiculous ‘proclamation’
People were arrested for holding up a blank page !
Remember Rory who was set upon for calling Andrew a sick old man ?!

I saw that the republic banners were removed at the trooping protest .

The Windsors should not be using their children as PR in the first place . Hasn’t Kate’s bumper early years file got a section for this ?

THisbackwithavengeance · 16/06/2026 15:02

I find it very strange that people who dislike the Royal Family would take time out of their busy day to come to London to protest against a family that has no particular bearing or influence on their lives.

If the RF were disbanded do people really think that Windsor Castle etc would be sold off and the proceeds divvied up between the starving masses?

I’m not surprised she glared. I’d’ve shouted fuck off you jealous cunts. Or done a loadsamoney impression at them. But Kate handled herself with her usual dignity.

Ukisgaslit · 16/06/2026 15:13

When the tax payer funded billionaire head of state family have covered up close links with Epstein - and more - I believe that has a very great bearing on our lives.

I find it odd that you think people dislike them personally when in fact it is the institution that they are protesting against

Huge bearing on our democracy, it shapes how are country is governed and appoints Prime ministers and dissolves parliaments. How you can say it has no bearing on us as a country baffles me.

Being a monarch is an hereditary privilege, which contradicts democratic principles. No influence? You are joking. What about the kings consent which allows Charles to tweak or cancel any laws he doesn't like the look of

Arjan · 16/06/2026 15:57

Basically it’s as simple as fans and anti-fans and the fans outnumbered the anti fans by probably at least 1000 to 1.

I honestly don’t’ think Catherine gives a shit, she is doing her thing for the RF and a few boos from a few stragglers in the crowd probably barely registered with her.

I agree with those who say the Republican org need to up their game, get a few influential and articulate members who can put forward a worthwhile argument that resonates with people.

noonames · 16/06/2026 16:07

Can someone post a snip of the glare in question?

Scroll through this article, it contains a video. It’s a crock of shit that she’s “glaring”.

I don't think she's 'glaring'. Looks like a fairly neutral, perhaps mildly stern, expression. Not really 'glaring'.

And it's a public event so peaceful protests are, and should be, permitted. That said, the 'not my King' chant makes my teeth itch. Republic need to come up with something better, because that's not winning them any friends.

Stop the reign on an umbrella was pretty good!

I'd glare if someone booed any young children, never mind my own.

#not a royalist.

The video when she looks over with a neutral expression and then waves? That's what I found when I googled - I thought they must have taken the photos down or something. Why is everyone discussing an imaginary glare 😂

Because she did glare!

Never, it’s rude and ignorant behaviour.

One commenter on X, who is a well-known Sussex supporter, claimed Catherine was "glaring," and the post started going viral. Instead of verifying it, parts of the media simply turned it into a story, and then other outlets followed. That's the state of the media nowadays.

She didn't glare. At most, she had a neutral expression — I would even say there was a slight smile on her face. And moments later, she waved. People are seeing what they want to see rather than what actually happened.

Because she looked a bunch of republicans in the eye while they were yelling at her and her children, remained gracious, waived, and because she’s popular, they need to portray her as a bitch trying to scare them off. Nobody’s denying them the right to protest. But apparently, they are scared of being looked at by a woman and 3 children.
