Hello I thought I'd start a thread where we can build up the excitement for tomorrow 😂

I'm enjoying the English Country/ family vibe I'm getting from the setting and wedding prep.

Fox Gloves in the flowers 💕

I'm looking forward to seeing Harriet's dress, she's a very attractive women, but the flowers are always of special interst to me.

Who do we think will be bridesmaids? Peters P's and Harriet's daughters presumably? Zara's kids?

I read that Philip and Zara have a half sister who will be attending, I didn't kow about her!

I also read that Peters first wedding to Autumn was sold to Hello and criticised for this. Very tacky. It looks like he's learned and is not cashing in this time, so hopefully we'll get a good look at evryone.

I really liked Sophie's dress , the bag was a bit Claire's Accessories though. Zara and Catherine looked lovely and Anne's somewhat eccentric look made me smile. I like the style of Beatrice's dress just not the pattern. The bride looked so happy and while it wouldn't be my choice of dress, she looked beautiful.

lol. First of all you clearly still weren’t destitute, otherwise you’d prioritised something else and not private school; two, if you have grandparents who can contribute to private schooling you do come from a well off family.
I also bet “no holidays” doesn’t mean “no visiting family or friends in their big country houses”.

and lastly the bride in question is clearly not living on the NHS nurse salary. Even from looking at what she was wearing when they were dating

Sorry to disappoint, no large houses. I have been destitute at times, I was disowned when I married my first husband. But that is another story and he was truly horrible anyway. My family, though ancient, has been remarkably unsuccessful for a very long time, hilariously so in fact 😆

Teakettletrio · Today 18:52

This might have already been asked further back in the the thread, but what is stuck to the bride’s tiara in the post ceremony pictures? It looks like a white sticking plaster or something.

santamole · Today 18:53

Well there's one thing I learned from today's so called Royal/society wedding, and it is that no one should fret about what to wear to ANY wedding. Having seen the gear on most of the guests today I was just so underwhelmed. Most of it was dull, creased, boring, nondescript, too short, too long, but with one or two notable exceptions. Anything goes as long as the fabric is expensive it seems!

On another note, I had a vision of the Mother of Bride and Father of Groom hiding behind one of those white flowered bushes at the back of the church having a sneaky fag and a hip flask slug of G+T. Cos they weren't to be seen anywhere else!

I love Kate's dress.

Not sure about the bride. I was expecting a a less obviously bridal dress but it is a pretty dress.

The bridesmaids's dresses remind me of India Hicks's wedding dress by the same designer,

Edited

India Hicks was a mature bride, and her dress was very elegant.

I wouldn't dare tell Anne to loose the black accessories!

I liked Snowden's girlfriends dress! (Apparently her name is Isabelle de la Bruyère)

She's the only guest that I've seen who looked in any way chic imo

Seriously, sort yourself out.

Really? Why do you love it? It's really nothing to write home about, when you compare it to many of the lovely outfits she's worn in the past. It's beige and boring in both style and colour. I truly think she wore something nondescript so as not to outshine the bride.

I loved Kate’s outfit and think it well judged - spot on for the occasion. It is beautifully cut which is what distinguishes it from cheaper garments and the fabric looks rich. It’s not really possible to judge the colour from a photo but I suspect it is a bit darker in tone than it appears. I think that it flatters her anyway.

It is elegant and flattering whilst not attention seeking or taking away from the bride in any way. I also like the neckline - personally I loathe high necks.

The bridal party looked lovely.

All guests looked suitably attired. It’s always nice to see a church wedding where guests are not dressed as though attending a night club with boobs and legs everywhere and girls tottering along in heels that they can’t walk in.

santamole · Today 19:08

I love an unstructured look in a silk (ish) dress. It is just so elegant. (like Isabelle's).

I've come to the conclusion that patterns are awful, but block colour, draped style mid calf length dresses are gorgeous. The rest of them can go to Vinted.

dapsnotplimsolls · Today 19:10

I've just caught up - agree with PP about Sarah Chatto's outfit - very dull. I also hope the bridesmaids had a change of shoes - those shoes would have been soggy by the time they got to the reception!

I agree entirely. Patterns and florals look frumpy on everyone. Pashminas are never not terrible. Also fascinators and Tudor headbands.

A very interesting summary indeed.

I still think three inches off the length would sort out the exaggerated visual imbalance between the top and bottom halves of the outfit, but I often think that about those almost-ankle-length skirts.

Clearly, Mumsnetters need to get together and be Kate's dressmakers! 🤣

Most skirts these days seem to be very short or very long. Whatever happened to an inch or two below the knee? After all, most women aren't that tall and are drowned in long skirts.

An inch or two below the knee looks very old fashioned to me now and to be avoided if you’re middle aged but don’t want to look too matronly! A bit longer is more flattering to my eye, particularly because you want to avoid the skirt ending on and hitting the fatter part of the leg.

It reminds me of Kate's dress at her sister's wedding.

Hopefully they each got a box fresh pair of whatever the coolest new trainers are!

I’ll be interested to see what the bride wears. I think she’s very stylish but I hope she’s not ‘full bridal’ as I think it’s a bit daft for second marriages and in middle age.

Her wedding, her choice! She’s the bride, and if she wants to go full bridal, she should!

santamole · Today 19:14

Ok, so now I'd love to know what the reception would be like.

Champagne and canapes, followed by elegant lunch or is there a hiatus until dinner. Then will they all kick off their shoes, get hammered and dance the night away. Or will it be very hushed tones and civilised, all departing for 8 oclock or something.

My guess is a civilised session up to the end of the meal, then mayhem.

Would anyone know? And how do they all get home, in a carriage that awaits, or a fleet of buses, or taxis, or chauffeurs, or their own cars (no drinkies, boo hiss), or what?

I suppose at the end of the day they are just like the rest of us about everything really!

I agree on all counts! 😂

OublietteBravo · Today 19:19

I can’t get away from thinking the bride’s dress is a bit dated. This is because it is almost identical to the one my mother wore in 1969 (sadly, I don’t have a photo).

Allseeingallknowing · Today 19:19

Why did Anne need that Pashmina over her jacket? It made her outfit look messy.

straight into trainers I bet.

StrawberryWasp · Today 19:20

Were the younger Tindall children there?
Why weren't William and Kates children there?

I get not bringing toddlers to church but children over the age of 5 should be able to sit through a church service imo.

I find this excluding of children from weddings sad. Weddings create family cohesion and teach children so much about what families value.

They also look cute and usually have a great time and create key memories.

Yes she oozes elegance, fab dress.

StrawberryWasp · Today 19:22

I liked Harriets look more when she exited the church with the veil off her face.

She's very pretty and looked very happy.
I bet she'll look great later when it's a chic evening style column dress.
