Hello I thought I'd start a thread where we can build up the excitement for tomorrow 😂

I'm enjoying the English Country/ family vibe I'm getting from the setting and wedding prep.

Fox Gloves in the flowers 💕

I'm looking forward to seeing Harriet's dress, she's a very attractive women, but the flowers are always of special interst to me.

Who do we think will be bridesmaids? Peters P's and Harriet's daughters presumably? Zara's kids?

I read that Philip and Zara have a half sister who will be attending, I didn't kow about her!

I also read that Peters first wedding to Autumn was sold to Hello and criticised for this. Very tacky. It looks like he's learned and is not cashing in this time, so hopefully we'll get a good look at evryone.

I thought she wouldn't do a veil.

A veil is very virgin bridesque.

If you are older and previously married I'd have thought it wouldn't be the look you'd choose. (Fashion look based not moral judgement.)
I was expecting something more pared back, but with a more English country vibe.
Flowers in her hair would have been beautiful.

She also looks a bit severe with her hair tight and up. Duchess of Westminster did this and she's also a beautiful women but it created a severe aging look.
Soft waves and flowers would have been lovely.
All imo obvs.

I think people are more relaxed about bridal wear in general. The idea that you have to be a virgin to wear a white bridal dress is very outdated.

Charles must have given dispensation as Head of CofE for the two divorcees to marry in a CofE church. He couldn't manage that for himself, or maybe Mama wouldn't do it for him! I'm being tongue in cheek here before I'm annihilated. Anyway I think the vicar can allow it these days.

Love Beatrice's dress, really suits her and lovely cut.

Kate's is a bit dull but I expect that's deliberate.

Again she’s very reglious. I suspect the hair will come down and the lace part will come off after the ceremony

How come two divorced people are getting married in Church . Thought only Church of Scotland allowed it which was why Anne got married there . And Charles and Camilla couldn't get married in a church .And bridal white . At least Camilla didn't try that . I think Camilla outfit at her wedding with headpiece was fabulous.

Nice to know the Scots are good for something....😆

BasiliskStare · Yesterday 14:01

I thought Camilla's Register office outfit was lovely ( and she's reworn it - I refuse to speak about recycling clothes when what you are just doing is wearing it again 😂 ) The outfit she wore for the blessing I thought was utterly lovely. But I do think Camilla mainly hits the mark for formal & Queenly dressing.

And yes that Dior cape dress with the sapphires in France was absolutely lovely.

People seem to be unaware that the association of brides with virginal purity was a very sexist one?
Or they are aware but think it should continue?

Of course you don't have to.
Everyone can do what they like.
And she has.

Lovely.

But we're a thread for idle gossip and opinions on fashion, flowers and anything wedding related.
So there will be a variety of superficial musings on veils and dresses.

I thought the bride and bridesmaids were sublime - must have been very stressful choosing a dress knowing you'd be all over the media in it.

I think Kate went very understated so not to take attention from Harriet.

Looks like they are going for an English country garden vibe as I see Lupins and Peonies as well

(Where I live it is illegal to plant Lupins)

Why is that? What’s wrong with lupins?

Chimneyissues · Yesterday 14:04

I like Zara’s shoes. Kate always manages to look nice but not showy.

I think people are focused on the wrong thing, they need to remember she is deeply religious and getting married in church, it’s clear that is a dress of two parts, she will wear the lace, veil for the ceremony and she will look very different for the wedding breakfast.

A little story. Camilla's hat(s) for her wedding to C were made and designed by Philip Treacy. His brother lives near my friend who lives in Dublin now. I met the brother and heard some great stories. Nothing about the RF of course. 😊

It's totally in the gift of the local vicar.

Randomchat · Yesterday 14:06

I'm not a fan of the bridesmaids outfits. I also think they would be better suited to much younger kids.

Whichever sister is wearing the green print dress, I really like it.

I'm also itching at the thought of all that lace round my neck but we're all different.

I hope they have a lovely day.

Yes, but was that in place for C+C wedding or is it a recent thing?

Camilla's wedding outfit was perfect. It's my favourite of her outfits, along with the midnight blue Dior cape gown she wore at Versailles a few years ago.

I do think full bridal veil and train is a bit OTT for a previously married woman in her 40s, but obviously it's not for me to decide!

I agree. Camilla pitched it just right. I loved her wedding dress and head-piece. Classy and age appropriate. Harriet looks faintly ridiculous for her age.

Anyone know what’s happening with the live feed please

Am obviously old and grumpy (I’m same age as Peter Philips) but I’m not a fan of the full bridal regalia for second weddings.

Allseeingallknowing · Yesterday 14:10

Some of these very ordinary dresses were probably very expensive, designer dresses, but they looked no better than those at Next, M&S, which is fine but at this kind of society wedding I’d expect exceptional outfits.

I think I'd go for something a bit lower key for a second wedding.

Haven't had one though, so who knows!

I can't see a pic of Camilla ...

SqueakyDinosaur · Yesterday 14:11

White dresses have only been a big thing since Queen Victoria got married in one in I think 1839.

And it has literally only just occurred to me that the bride and groom share the names of my favourite literary couple (Vane and Wimsey).

He always goes for the same women. They all look similar.

I've just google imaged his first wife and you're not wrong!
