I just want to say that my ire towards H&M for exploiting their children on social media, extends to all the parents who do this.

All parents who are mining their children's childhoods for content, using their children to build a brand and to promote themselves.

I think there should be widespread condemnation and shame heaped on these people.

And I find the doing it but hiding their face crowd the most offensive because they pretend they are protecting their children whilst at the same time continuing to exploit them. It's false virtue signalling while you continue to be a shit selfish parent.

I actually find those who just post the kids without the pretense of shielding them at least most honest in what they're doing. They are declaring: yes this is our kids lives and we think it's fine to share it with the world.

They are wrong, it's not fine it's dark exploitation of your own children.

But at least it's clear what they are doing.

@bluegreygreen i use a lot of Becky recipes as I’m gluten free. Her mini Easter eggs cheesecake is to die for.

I’m off to Fortnums for tea in a couple of weeks, as was a birthday gift, so was just checking their menus and saw their recipe and thought was quite apt!

My husband is coeliac so when I bake it's GF and I tend to think of it when anyone posts recipes, hence the link. Wasn't expecting that you would also be GF 😊

I have also made some of the Loopy Whisk's simpler recipes, which have been good (the ones using a commercial flour blend) and have her first book. At some point I plan to buy her second book (The Elements of Baking), which as well as new recipes tells you how to convert any recipe to being GF.

I agree Meghan wants us to discuss her family. I also think she deliberately posts inconsistent photos, or photos completely out of any chronology that may or may not be her actual children (their size and height varies widely from photo to photo).

This could be to safeguard her actual children’s privacy (though if so, I side-eye using other people’s children to garner goodwill for yourself and your commercial brand while pretending they are your own, not to mention essentially practising a deceit on her fans) or just to stir up controversy.

Yes also youngest partner, is coeliac, his mum was so happy that I’m gluten free (triggers my RA) and she was relieved that he wouldn’t be poisoned in our home) 😆 and that I already knew all about it and didn’t need it explained to me.

Also my excuse now is that i buy/make stuff ostensibly for him that I wouldn’t just for me so it’s a win win!

If Meghan wants to safeguard her children's privacy, she could just not post photos of them. Ever. We don't need to see them. Not the backs of their heads, not random limbs, nothing. She should try it. People far more famous than her manage it perfectly well.

Amusing article in The Mail today. I couldn't read it because it's behind the paywall, but from the comments the writer is suggesting that because the Wales children don't have birthday portraits in bare feet they are to be pitied compared to Lilibet.

Obviously the writer would have us believe the Wales children spend all day in collars and ties and never run in the garden. It is quite the reach to say the least.

Obviously the writer has never looked at any of the Wales' birthday content because if she had - she would have seen barefoot playing in the sand, barefoot beach cricket, barefoot jumping in the sea and playing with their dogs. Also William and Catherine seem post photos for their children's birthdays without putting themselves in the pictures at all.

In contrast the Sussex photos are almost painfully posed and staged - I guess they can't be natural as they need to avoid inadvertently revealing faces. Also Harry and/or Meghan mostly include themselves in the picture

Just look at the furore last night around Nancy Sidley and Meghan's Mole. Look at some of the YouTube comments. The Sidley Twins both seem to be cracking up and frankly need to take a very long break from the internet.

I haven't been following this could you say what's going on?

I was up late (couldn't sleep) and was flicking through YouTube and saw a Sidley Twins 'Live' starting, so watched the first part. (NB: the twins are Nancy and Stephanie Sidley.)

A few days ago Nancy had posted a 'video short' in tears and distress, saying that her 'boyfriend' of ten years had broken up with her and she wouldn't be back for a while. There was an outpouring of sympathy for her from their YouTube followers.

Apparently it was all a ruse to try to smoke out a fellow online commenter known as 'Meghan's Mole', who had been mean to her about her and her boyfriend. (Yeah, I know ... 🙄) and to see if M Mole would make a video about it. (Something to do with whether or not the boyf of ten years is/was married or not.) Apparently M Mole did make the video. And Nancy then said the boyf's name. (I'd never heard of him - he's a minor actor.)

So last night Nancy decided to somewhat chaotically come clean. It was a car crash of an 'explanation' and 'apology'. Apparently she fooled the fans, fooled Stephanie, fooled The Whole Online Space (as the kids say), was 'having a breakdown' ... and the comments started flying and I turned it off as the twins started arguing and it was becoming more and more cringeworthy.

All this follows on from a few weeks ago where Stephanie had appeared on air being very 'out of it' and argumentative (more so that usual), apparently on medication or simply drunk (or both). A lot of their followers defended her then, and were sympathetic, which was heartening to see as that actually did look like some sort of mental crisis waiting to happen.

But taken in the round, I think the Sidley Twins have got close to drinking the well of sympathy dry, and need to have a big old rethink about their engagement styles with their 'fans'. It's bizarre, frankly, and unnerving to watch. They're way too long in the tooth for this shit. It's not critique; it's juvenile.

I also find it vaguely creepy. It's one thing if a parent wants to post occasional photos of their family life without revealing the children's faces. But Meghan posts photos of her children, mostly Lili, on a nearly weekly basis for no reason at all. What was even worse were those photos from Disneyland where the children were facing the camera. God forbid we see their royal faces, so flower emojis were plonked over their faces instead. It looked a bit sinister. Just don't post the photo at all! It's not difficult!

And don't get me started on those videos she posts with the children's voices emerging from outside the frame. Just weird.
