Ok so my view on her outfit.

It was appropriate for the occasion and it was ok. But she could have styled it much better.

M has a tricky body shape in that (though slim) she has a square torso with an ill defined waist. I say this without meaning to be derogatory as my frame is very similar 😂.

It can be an absolute bugger of a shape to dress. If you get clothes that fit your shoulders/hips they are invariably too tight at the waist or if you fit to your waist you end up with clothes that just look oversized around your hips/shoulders and make you look much bigger than you are.

So you have to dress/style strategically. In terms of jackets, cropped jackets that end at the smallest part of the waist are a good option.

Another if you want to wear longer jackets is to fit to your shoulders and wear them unbuttoned (so they don’t pull at the waist as we see happening in the pictures of M).

The other option is to lean into the oversized “boyfriend” baggy blazer look where clothing deliberately isn’t cut to accommodate a waistline (M seems to do this quite a bit) but it often risks you looking totally shapeless and isn’t a very “polished” look for a formal occasion.

Of course you could get items tailored but that’s going to cost (but imho I’d argue if you are going to spend over £3k on a designer jacket then there’s no point in doing so unless it fits you properly or are prepared to wear in a flattering way).

IMHO she’d have looked great in the jacket and trousers if she’d paired them with a contrasting cream/ivory (or other colour) fitted shirt, a good belt to define her waist and left the button on the jacket open (the contrast shirt would have also addressed the issue of the different shades of black between the jacket and her top).

So no, imho it wasn’t so much an outfit catastrophe but rather a missed opportunity that could have been styled a lot better.

I defer to your superior knowledge, but I will say I think the outfit would have looked better with a plain white, crew necked shirt and as you say unbuttoned.

She’s a 🪭

I guess when superfans can't defend they resort to outright falsehoods.

All of the US news networks ran stories of the Princess of Wales going to Italy across the political spectrum. CNN sent a reporter to Italy as did various other networks.

Very few overseas news events make it to US mainstream news which is inwardly focused because all 50 states and 7 territories generate so much news that impacts people domestically, so it is hard for overseas news to meaningfully break through.

I wasn't baiting you - I just find a lot of these comments do prove the point she can do not right in some eyes.

Meghan's crass as fuck - and the pre photos show a lack thought frankly. She got an oufit right - a win by her poor previous standards - but the venom this generations here is absurd.

I think the world has seen how little she and Harry have to offer and how poor their behavior is. Is she good at fashion - no and there are many examples of this. She dressed appropriate for the occasion and looked good in some photos - shows she can do it which begs question why she gets it so wrong on so many other occaions to me rather than finding tinest things to bitch out here.

I find it interesting how badly these two have blown through every opportunity and how tone deaf they are but she will occaionally hit the low bar set and do okay at events. I don't see acknowledging that as dismissing all the actual problems she presents to the world - clearly for some everything she does means she evil - I think she a woman who has delusions of competence and the mismatch with reality is often amusing. But I do seem to be very out of step on here and with the prevaling attitude of burn the witch.

Actually your statement "Meghan's as crass as fuck" is the most venomous thing I've read on this thread.

Justdancevance · 18/05/2026 14:06

Meghan clothes looked better than normal but the tailoring wasn’t great as other have said.

After a long flight ber skin looked understandably dehydrated and the severe hairstyle showed poor blending from most angles (apart from front on), I’m guessing the WHO didn’t pay for a stylist, hairdresser and MUA to travel with her.

She really needs to think about using their kids on SM, as it jars with her message about kids not being on SM.

I’m really surprised you didn’t see anything about it in the media. There was a lot of coverage in the lead up to the trip because it was her first overseas visit since her diagnosis. The build up and the first day received extensive coverage but the second day didn’t seem to get as much attention.

The pasta making way Day 2, I think? That was all over the papers (broadsheets as well as tabloids) and the TV news (eg BBC, Channel 4). In fact, it was hugely covered to the point I thought it was a bit OTT!

My point exactly! @Rhaidimiddim🤷‍♀️ , I’m also suspicious of new names arriving and acting like they are longtime posters who are critical, say something negative then get upset about something inconsequential like criticism of an outfit!

Justdancevance · 18/05/2026 14:10

I just find them interesting, how they always manage to snatch defeat from the arms of victory.

They have squandered so many opportunities. Most people never ‘get in the room’ They have been given so many chances. It’s fascinating

Perhaps it’s just that my news feed isn’t showing much about it. Lately, it’s been full of coverage on the local elections and now the Labour government and its leadership challenge. I don’t buy newspapers, so I wouldn’t see print headlines anyway, and when I think of 'the media,' I’m mainly referring to UK newspapers, as that’s where I’d usually expect to see this kind of coverage.

I also don’t watch the news and I don’t know many people who still do. Most of my friends tend to get their updates through social media or by checking news apps from time to time.

So from my perspective, I really haven’t seen much at all. I don’t actively look for news about the Royal Family either if something happens to be trending and I come across it on the platforms I use, I might take a look, like today on here where it was in trending news but that’s about it.

Thinking about it, I can’t actually remember the last time I had a conversation with friends or family about them it’s probably not since the Queen passed away.

Eh - I don’t get this - you’re saying you don’t understand why you didn’t see coverage of the trips and you’re “mainly referring to the UK newspapers” but then say that you don’t read them? I think there’s a clue in there that can solve this conundrum 🕵

If you don’t read the papers, don’t watch the news, don’t look for news about the RF and you don’t discuss the RF with friends, maybe it’s not that surprising that you don’t see stories about them? Individual feeds are driven by the articles and stories you click on, so your feed doesn’t tell you anything much about what the broadcast and print media are reporting.

My2cents1975 · 18/05/2026 14:11

A few of the not-well covered moments from various US networks. And that is not touching on the global coverage!

Indeed ! Not only were they “in the room “ but they went so far as to leave it , trash it , then set it on fire!
now they are complaining that they are no longer allowed in the house that the room was situated!

Are there photos showing the audience at the Geneva event? The only photos I've seen show the barriers next to and behind M and the optics are terrible. A few stray, disinterested people. It really shows her up as a nobody.

I just wondered if there is a large crowd in front I haven't seen in photos?

So you don’t look for royal news on social media, don’t buy newspapers and don’t watch tv news broadcasts. I’m puzzled as to exactly how you expect to discover whether or not these topics made the news in order to form your opinions, expressed so strongly here, that they were disappointing in terms of coverage? Do you think someone should knock on your door with a personal digest of what has been reported?

Anyway, here are some of the front pages of the Times in relation to the two events you said were disasters… (Charles was covered on the front page a couple of times before he left too, but I don’t feel I need to copy every one to illustrate the point).

why does she always have the opposite expression on her face to those around her?

I doubt there was a large crowd.

I don't think Meghan's presence at that exact event was known in advance and in any case, she's hardly a household name in Switzerland. Why would the Swiss care about the American wife of the younger son of the British king?

I think what's more telling is that this was basically a minor event on the periphery of the WHO conference. Which isn't to say it wasn't very meaningful to the parents of the children commemorated, but it wasn't a high level occasion. I can't imagine, say, Angelina Jolie flying all the way to Geneva and leaving her children at home yet again just to speak at this low key event. So unless Meghan has some other 'appearance' scheduled, this kind of reeks of desperation to me.

Saw this mylovely ! Not sure if it was the same day or not ( assuming it was?!) and then off home I think, she is not involved in the other events there.
wearing the lilac outfit! , I’m also surprised that this was reported by a fashion blog and not regular media! 🤷‍♀️

Oh look, jeff ... the guy alongside's engaging with whatever's being said and Meghan's contribution is a doe eyed stare into the nearest camera

Quelle surprise ...

I have just looked at a video for you ( sound off !) and what is very interesting is that there doesn’t appear to be any pictures of the people in front of her at all ! None ! , this is very odd ! And I assume it’s either to protect the families privacy ( strange because they are pictured with her later) or it’s because there wasn’t anyone there apart from them and the press!

There were rows of chairs set up in front of the lecture from which Meghan spoke - you can see them in this picture. I too presumed the rest of the attendees were not pictured, to protect their privacy. But you can see from this video, pre-arrival, that there were 40-45 chairs set out in total.
