I didn't comment on the medals. That's not my area of expertise.
My issue is someone who has chosen to step away from Royal responsibilities, cashing in on it, yet participating in a military occasion which is according him some sort of status.
All because he is a Prince.

Yes, although they very kindly broke those rules for him at the late Queen's funeral.

That's my point..

Some posters seem to be thinking medals must= gallantry awards..they are not.

Some medals were awarded for e.g. being in the Mil during one of the Jubilees, there have been Coronation medals, and there have been medals awarded to many in the Mil for serving for example in a active conflict area whilst the conflict was ongoing (e.g. the South Atlantic medal).

As long as H isn't going around wearing awards for gallantry the medals aren't automatically the problem some posters think they are.

If it's post a flight (maybe having gone via a lounge to freshen up/change) and is heading direct to an event where medals were to be worn I don't see the problem.

If he's just arrived at LHR enroute to a bit of shopping in the West end that's another matter.

Go into London on Remembrance Day and you'll sometimes see vets on the tube with their medals up...

I'm really not sure his medal wearing is the problem some think it is.

It's a chat forum. They are high profile attention seekers so of course attract scrutiny and criticism.
We don't need to be bffs with anyone to point out their hypocrisy and many shortcomings.

The fact that Australia has rolled out the red carpet really highlights, for me, the fact that America hasn't done that

While I agree, @Not2identifying, I wouldn't have expected America to.
For obvious historical reasons their endless insistence on using titles may actually act against them, which just leaves the usual American respect for those who make a success of themselves or genuinely offer something to the community

As the high-powered couple took a commercial flight this time, I wonder if any of the flight crew knelt before the Princess? I recall vaguely an anecdote of someone doing so on a previous trip.

Save that this trip is a commercial venture. I don't think you can just separate bits of it out - this is all about them shoring up their commercial viability/visability as royals for sale. And the Sandringham agreement prevents him from using his medals for commercial purposes. It's very telling that most of his medals (all but one I think) relate to royal jubilees and the like. Medals he received for being a member of the RF and for no other reason. He's utterly crass to be parading himself around like the big hero, wearing medals from a family he despises and has betrayed.

Oh heck, I can't even to begin to imagine the pushback they'd get from a typical Qantas crew if they even hinted that their status required the crew to behave in such a manner...

I don’t think he has done anything he isn’t allowed to in wearing his medals, but maybe that isn’t the point. As many pp have pointed out, he isn’t wearing any medals he is not entitled to wear. The problem is that when someone sees a person they know is ex military wearing medals, they will
often assume that they are gallantry medals rather than campaign or commemorative ones. The King and William will also have these types
of medal that they are entitled to wear, but I don’t recall seeing either of them rocking up from a flight wearing any. So Harry just looks a bit dickish imo 🤷‍♀️

If the pic of H showed him coming through the aircraft door off a commercial flight, yes, it's maybe dickish..but it's not showing that as far as I can tell.

It could have been taken, for example, of him post flight leaving a VIP lounge at LHR/wherever on the way to a service related event

I'll sure as heck call H out on many things but that picture without context doesn't tell us anything.

We are in the lead up to ANZAC Day in Australia and New Zealand. Veterans do wear their medals on their suits. Harry is a veteran.

Veterans from allied countries are welcome to wear their medals too.

We often do things differently here.

FWIW Veterans in the UK can and do wear medals with suits on appropriate occasions and it's entirely iaw Royal British Legion protocol.

It's maybe time for those who haven't served to stop going down this particular rabbit hole, there are plenty other options for kicking H but his medal wearing isn't one of them.

I really don't see where any big money could be made from this 'tour'.

1st class flights to Oz will have cost well into the 5 figures. They presumably won't have been paid for the 'charity' visits. Maybe a fee for the Masterchef appearance and the 'girls' weekend' but hardly vast amounts. I don't see how Meghan is going to make much from commission on clothes either. She's been trying that for a while but doesn't seem to have had much success. Australia is a hell of a long way to go to merch a dress.

Maybe not as such, @IcedPurple, but given the emphasis on veterans' appearances I'm another who's wondering if Invictus have stumped up for any of the costs

And it won't have cost quite so much to go that far to merch outfits if someone else is paying ...
