Here we go, another article about that 'quiet faith' that has been completely silent until now!

As one of the btl comments suggests, is there some rebranding going on???

Surely not!

Presumably part of lining William up to become king (and also head of the Church of England) ?

BoxingHare · 25/03/2026 10:42

Here's the first article about this Forever (but just very quiet) Faith...

Prince William confirms ‘quiet faith’ and new commitment to Church https://share.google/wcRGy7YZ5AaL17QrX

Indeed.

Wondering if they're priming us for it being a sooner than they're leading us to believe scenario...

I think it’s pretty widely understood that the king isn’t expected to live that much longer isn’t it - with so much preparation to be done involving lots of people, that kind of information does tend to get out.

damelza · 25/03/2026 13:30

I'm not a cynic but......

AnnaMagnani · 25/03/2026 13:32

William has been preparing us for the imminent death of the King for at least a year now, probably longer.

Still isn't dead and appears to be doing business as usual.

That's an interesting take. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you - have you got some examples?

CathyorClaire · 25/03/2026 20:01

Hmm. Yet another piece telling us what W plans for his reign and softening us up to accept an heir who can't really be arsed with the basics.

We've had royalling with a small 'r', the dropping of patronages wholesale and now a monarch- in- waiting with a 'quiet faith' handily meaning he doesn't have to explain his lack of regular hassock bothering.

Is there anything at all this bloke does want to do other than trousering dosh?

He’s also happy to attend football matches. So exhausting for the poor love…

Yes, he is fond of footie but mainly matches that don't involve the wimmin and their lady world cup.

Just as well he can balance the workload out with every school holiday off and rests in-between.

damelza · 25/03/2026 21:11

They're all heathens, pretending to be Christians. I bet W would never enter a church if it wasn't a requirement of his role. And I wonder what's the difference between a loud and a quiet Christian anway!

That's why I am cynical.

TravellingSomewhere · 25/03/2026 21:41

I find it hard to fathom how much training is really required, we hear they are training for the role since a young age but seriously why? Why can't they be kept away from it all until 21yrs old allowing them to develop skills to go on and have careers or jobs especially for the spares.

Of course there is a small risk the current monarch may suddenly pass away but realistically the Queen lived long, so is the King right now. Who needs almost 30+yrs of training. If they start from 20yrs old even that is still 20yrs of training.

I do have a feeling this is his new crisis manager at work and clapping back at all the negative comments made about him.

SecretBather · 25/03/2026 21:50

Agree that Charles’ prognosis can’t be good.

Fwiw I think William will be a good king and will be able to move the RF towards a more streamlined and modern model.

AnnaMagnani · 25/03/2026 22:49

On what basis is his prognosis poor? It's already 2 years since his diagnosis.

TheKittenswithMittens · 25/03/2026 23:21

Is it worth keeping the coins then?

Perhaps he's going to remove the 140 or was it 150 exemptions to our laws that his grandmother required . Perhaps we'll be able to read eg what Prince Philip put in his will ( must be pretty damning to his reputation if he was granted a special dispensation to keep it hidden for a hundred years). Or maybe, a long shot I know, as the Head of the Church he's actually going to take to heart the teachings of Jesus Christ. You know, the one about 'it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven' so he'll be announcing his repudiation of all/some of his £billions? One wonders how he sleeps at night knowing he will meet his close relations in Hell...? Or does he not believe a word of it.......!

I don't like Charles but I also don't think it's fair to speculate on his health. The way us being paved for William but that doesn't mean Charles is extremely ill with little time left.

ShetlandishMum · 26/03/2026 04:21

Can't read the articles but good for him preparing for his job.

What is the definition of a “good” king? 🙄 I’m sure I’d make a great queen - I’m very good at eating dinners, shaking hands and cutting ribbons. I might apply for the job. Oh no, wait, I can’t can I? 🙄

You can't make someone believe in the god stuff if they simply don't. You can have values that align with Christianity without being an actual god botherer.

CurlewKate · 26/03/2026 05:11

He can’t possibly fit going to Church into his schedule- he has 3 children to look after!

ZenNudist · 26/03/2026 07:50

Can't read the article. Does he go to church?

Here’s an archive link for those willing to read The Telegraph’s hornswoggle for a few minutes

archive.is/2026.03.25-074135/www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2026/03/25/prince-william-christian-journey/

You’ll have to copy and paste it. MN keeps stripping out the archive link otherwise.

TravellingSomewhere · 26/03/2026 08:45

Was this before or after it came out and there was public pressure?

Goldfsh · 26/03/2026 08:51

As a practising anglican I feel quite an unchristian rage with William. He's shown absolutely zero leadership in this space and I can't think I could identify any of his values in life other than avoiding difficult things.

Even as a young man Charles took his role very seriously, and was very much a game-changer in his own way. He intervened a lot with things he was passionate about: the church, faith inclusion, the build environment, ecology. He was always getting slagged off for over-stepping!

William has done nothing as far as I can see. At a time when we need clear leadership (and contrary leaders) he just seems to want to take a back seat. I get that's his personality. But it's not what you want from a leader of the church! And certainly he has demonstrated absolutely no interest in church or liturgy - nevermind any actual real faith in the whole shebang.
