Here’s an example of a woman playing ‘The Game’

www.reddit.com/r/TheHermesGame/s/nVX83VqD5s

I’ve a friend with a fair few Hermes bags & a coveted Birkin in orange. We all almost popped when we saw it and tried to play cool. I failed.

Sorry I’ve got to say it. That woman is the antithesis of Hermes chic. All those tattoos and that (probably very expensive) thin cotton dress. Jane Birkin she isn’t. Obviously I had no idea about “The Game”. I assumed you won the lottery and wandered into Hermes to treat yourself to a statement bag. On the other hand, reading the post about “The Game” I assumed they’d honour people who fitted their image with the option to spend ££££ on one of their bags. But apparently a tattooed weirdo fits the bill. Maybe “The Game” is just about convincing anyone who they judge to have the wherewithal that they are very honoured to be given the opportunity to buy a bag. Maybe she really is a lottery winner.

I've read through the blurb and comments under the photo of tattoo woman and that dress is actually leather! Shock

I'm being a bit naughty here & I know H&M have a different way of doing things & they aren't WRF - it was supposedly about Invictus

But re State visits , faux Royal tours - exercise for the student - Compare and contrast

I think it had to be pointed out in words of almost one syllable M&H's visit was nothing to do with the RF.

I do think they could , if they had been of a different mindset done some good for the RF. But that's their choice.

Meghan sports backless dress as she joins Harry in Nigeria

The Duchess of Sussex , 42, looked effortlessly elegant as she bared her back in a sleeveless peach-coloured frock as she and Prince Harry kicked off their 72-hour whistlestop tour of Nigeria.

Yes, I remember these comments not long after the Sussex visit to Nigeria ...

i really enjoy watching an insta page called Love Luxury, it’s where people resell their Hermes bags as well as buy them because they didn’t want to go to Hermes for it. It’s another world.

Recklessismymiddlename · 19/03/2026 10:00

Omg @CreamolaFoam26 just been on there. 😧 I’d no idea at those prices. A different world.

bluegreygreen · 19/03/2026 10:45

There was just all this jam ...

@Recklessismymiddlename I don’t even know how I came across it but I soon got sucked in. The owner had a very traumatic and difficult childhood and it’s heartening to see how she’s got on in life with her husband.

A lot of the skits they do are of course made up with supposed customers but they make me laugh
because at some stage they must have had people like that through their door and they’ve decided to use the background story once some time has passed.

Oh and a wee bit of gossip - Carole Middleton was at the races this week and on one of the days the Hermes bag she was carrying cost 50k. It was commented on in the press but I’ve forgotten which model it was. It made me wonder if she had to do what others do to get any kind of bag or if she just said “open sesame” and the doors to Hermes swung open for her.

corblimeyguvnr · 19/03/2026 10:56

Maybe she rented it for the occasion @CreamolaFoam26. People do this with bags and outfits now.

indeed , of course she may well have borrowed it from her daughter ( pippa ) or a friend 🤷‍♀️

Id much rather she owned it. In fact I hope she has a few of them in different colours.

She could have, just as she was wearing a hat she’d borrowed from the POW.

Id much rather she owned it though. I like people having nice things.

Perhaps she does , some people are shoes and handbag collectors!
I was in my youth, however I’m not actually keen on Hermes bags! 🤷‍♀️

CreamolaFoam26 · 19/03/2026 11:11

I just googled it. It was a Birkin in Ostrich skin and the waiting list for it is 2 years long. I hope though that she didn’t have to go through the usual rigmarole to get it and the doors of Hermes did indeed swing open for her given who’s mum she is and if she got a bit of discount in it as well then I hope she spent it on a matching card holder at least.

It's nice to have lovely things but as you get older you do appreciate them less in favour of time with people and experiences - with the exception of diamonds 😂

I don’t like Hermes either but I do like handbags and shoes. Nothing fancy handbag wise, I mostly have Coach but shoes are something I love given I have a uk size 10 feet. My rule of thumb is if people are going to look at my big feet I’ll at least give them (me also) a lovely pair of shoes to look at as

CreamolaFoam26 · 19/03/2026 11:19

@corblimeyguvnr I agree. I’m 68 in a few weeks and whilst my family have always been what mattered most to me, the older I get the more profound the feeling is.

Eta - I'm not even a jewellery wearer to the extent I rarely wear my wedding ring. I do like my Pandora bracelet though and my little wristwatch.

I did actually overspend on a red ostrich skin bag not long ago 😱 , I saw it in the window of a local boutique shop, no price ( as usual in this shop but not normally that pricey!) loved it took it to the till and then it was too late! 🤣

edit to add !! No it wasn’t thaaat pricey ! But more than I normally spend on a handbag , normally anything above 50 pounds is pricey to me! 🤣 this one was 90 pounds!

Oh dear! How embarrassing for you.

CreamolaFoam26 · 19/03/2026 11:37

I had decided not to mention the issue with the Party goods business going bankrupt because for all we know the bag could have been bought years before the bankruptcy.

And I’ll take the mention of what family have supposedly given them by way of help with a pinch of salt as people can make anything up if they have a mind to

How they went about offloading the business did leave a nasty taste in my mouth though.

I imagine it wasn’t as nasty as the taste you experienced from h and m’s continued behaviour.

Enjoy your bag!

And I just want to say - any handbag I buy is bought in the sale. I’m never happy to pay full price for anything but I do t haggle which is what people do here. I see something I like and go back to the shop when the sales are on, if I’m lucky and it’s on sale then I’ll buy it but if not I’ll do without.

Unfortunately it’s been in the cupboard for years now! 🤣 , I’ve lost my taste for handbags and shoes now , rather spend the money on my children instead.
