The royal family

Why does Prince Edward garner less interest from the press and public compared to the other senior royals?

Is it partly because he's QEII's youngest child, and also that he hasn't really done anything controversial during his life? I'm too young to remember his childhood and formative years - did he get more attention back then?

I thought there was a chance he might assume greater prominence as one of the most senior royals, particularly with the events of the last few years - his nephew the Duke of Sussex departing as a working royal, both his parents passing away, KC struggling with cancer, and AMW now completely ostracised from the family. That doesn't appear to have happened though.

Is this a suit?

Looks like jeans and a casual top to me.
Do you understand the "hello mummy, hello Granny" reference?

He and Sophie keep themselves to themselves, don't go out "attention seeking", and their children are likewise pretty anonymous. Other than a bit of media attention at the start of their relationship (topless picture of Sophie with Chris Tarrant if I remember rightly) and a brief foray into an unsuccessful TV production firm, they've basically done nothing to attract the attention of the media. At the same time, they are "working Royals" to an extent, work hard in the background for their charities etc.

Lots of other minor "slebs" could learn a lot from them - there's no need to be constantly hounded by the media - people always seeking attention need to understand the consequences and that you can't "turn off" the paparazzi etc once you've gone down the attention seeking road!

Sophie was on The Archers recently. Playing herself. She was absolutely brilliant.

They also do quite a few of the overseas diplomatic trips each year.

I respect Sophie for her work promoting support for victims of sexual violence in war zones.
The report of her visit to Sudan, talking to women who were victims, was absolutely harrowing to read.

A friend of mine was at Cambridge with him. One day she was reading a notice board and was aware of someone standing next to her wearing a suit. It was PE. Poor guy still had to wear suits as part of his royal image even as a student. He was there with a protection officer, he read the board and then ambled off.

Allegedly allegedly someone I also knew was at a party with him who said that everyone had to leave the room for a few moments so that he could do something privately. Still, at least he didn’t say “Hello Mummy” afterwards.

My son is a dead ringer for PE’s son, James Wessex. Do you think there are career opportunities as a royal look a like these days? PS I would say that I haven’t met PE but actually I have but it was during the day and Sophie was there who led the show and was utterly delightful. PE, I think, grew up in the spotlight, is socially awkward so he puts on a show to literally act out his royal duties.

I was also watching an interview with an ex royal butler who said that PE had private rooms in. Buckingham Palace so he did. It intermingle with his parents very much, ie no nightly family dinner. The butler would deliver PE’s evening meal to him and during the stint with the Royal Marines, he would often find PE asleep on the sofa with his feet bleeding. The marines was a ridiculous choice for him, I don’t know why he didn’t stick with the regular army or go into the RAF.

I was up at Cambridge at the same time as PE, and he came to a party I gave with a couple of others. There were no special arrangements, he wore jeans and a shirt, no-one had to leave the room. He had a protection officer with him (also not in a suit).

Fair enough! I just wondered what it meant and no-one seems to be able to explain!
I don't want to Google it, just in case it's something disgusting.

Toohot4aduvet · Today 14:46

It isn’t disgusting.

What is it?

OlympicWomen · Today 14:52

So anyway, at least we know that Edward always wearing a suit at Cambridge is a load of nonsense.

adragoncalledaudrey · Today 16:12

There was only one person who banged on about Mummy.

Some could argue that it was disgusting.

And it wasn’t PE.

What do you mean, "shame on you"? Who are you talking to? What is the shame?
Why do we need to twist £10 notes?
I actually don't know why I'm asking because I don't suppose there will be a lucid answer.

CrocusesFlowering · Today 17:04

@Toohot4aduvet
Are you suggesting Edward had the room cleared so he could have a wank in private? Or what?

adragoncalledaudrey · Today 17:12

You lot? Nice.

I don’t think it is us coming out with a lot of scurrilous nonsense and twisting stuff. Don’t be coming the hurt feelings and throwing ‘take the shame’ about.

This is alleged to work on knobs.

It might also help with your ruffled sensibilities.

What awful people you both are. You have derailed this thread and made it tawdry with your unnecessary obsession.

Oh my god! I was wondering what @Toohot4aduvet was going on about.
Disgusting.

JacknDiane · Today 17:24

I like Sophie

adragoncalledaudrey · Today 17:32

Did I come out with a veiled, scurrilous and tawdry allegation?

I did not.

Be gone with the twister nonsense. You are not Helen Hunt.

I’m just gettting hot air and wind.
