Why does Prince Edward garner less interest from the press and public compared to the other senior royals?

Is it partly because he's QEII's youngest child, and also that he hasn't really done anything controversial during his life? I'm too young to remember his childhood and formative years - did he get more attention back then?

I thought there was a chance he might assume greater prominence as one of the most senior royals, particularly with the events of the last few years - his nephew the Duke of Sussex departing as a working royal, both his parents passing away, KC struggling with cancer, and AMW now completely ostracised from the family. That doesn't appear to have happened though.

He is sensible and manages his life well. No drama.

A couple of years ago, I was sitting on a bench in Cambridge, looked up, to see a kind of familiar face, thought possibly someone I knew…to realise it was PE.

He was walking to the station. No fuss, alone except for one man (I assume security), beside him.

I'm sure his recent events have been exciting to the people involved.

I suppose the least we can say is that she didn't have to be asked if she wanted to fuck a prince...

Must be an actress thing to want to share.

Let’s face it ! Nobody under a certain age ( including me ) has any idea who she is , the only claim to fame she has , she is obviously using, as far as I’m concerned she’s no better than those women who contact the sun to “kiss and tell” 🤷‍♀️

Edward is increasingly popular. Sophie his wife is one of the most popular royals. They are quiet, discreet and genuinely interested in the people they meet as part of their work. They share lovely children and appear to be a happy family. They are the best examples of working royals. No one wants a soap opera. They want royals with genuine interest in charity work, helping young people and encouraging the well being of the nation’s institutions. Well done Edward, Sophie and family.

I’m saying it appears to be a paltry number of engagements for someone that’s supposedly a ‘working’ royal. Having said that, it’s a good thing that people aren’t very interested in Edward or Sophie or what they get up to. And they probably are the best of a bad bunch.

Do please list all the engagements that Sophie and Edward have done in the past year! , because I’m assuming that as they were not splashed across the front of a tabloid you are obviously confused!

They get very little coverage on MN. It's safe to assume that broadly speaking there is limited interest in them. Someone started a thread about Sophie's trip a few months ago - it fizzled out after a couple of pages.

He is not interesting enough. Very vanilla. Boring. Does 't mean he is not a safe pair of hands, or a nice person. Nothing about him is bleeding, so papers aren't going to kead with anything from him.

Quietly getting on with things will never generate mn or press interest in the same way that idiocy, scandal and self aggrandising will.

Let's not pretend they are free of the grifting instincts that are embedded in the RF though. The National Audit Office reported earlier this year that they pay a peppercorn rent to the Crown Estate for the 120 room Bagshot Hall and trousered a handy £130,000 per annum from privately renting out converted stables to a third party. They cannot keep their noses out of the public trough!

Wonder how many here would swap for the same perks?

So ’nose in trough’, ‘renting stables’ and a ‘peppercorn rent’ in exchange for folk saying they are vanilla, boring etc and being open to criticism by randoms on the internet. As well as actresses trading on liaisons decades ago/building liaisons to add to their profile, infiltrate certain circles by having it large and inviting the press to print their thoughts?

I think every last one is and has been capable of being an entitled monster.

The difference lies in those who have the additional ability to recognise their privilege and tailor their behaviour accordingly.

If Harry and Andrew, along with their off-spring, are removed from the line of succession then he will be much higher, William, his family, then Edward and his family! If for whatever reason George becomes King at a very young age then Edward would be a big part of his life.
